Very spacious. Great floor plan which allowed for group gatherings, but also enough space to get some privacy. Nice location along the lake - great views. Owner was very easy to deal with. All necessary amenities were included. Highly recommend.

Perfect Family Getaway In A Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

First of all this home is located in the center of everything in Fontana. The focal point of the house is the lake. The floor to ceiling windows in the main living areas frame a breathtaking view. My family of eight was more than comfortable in this sprawling pad. There was plenty of space for everyone and plenty to do within steps of the front door.

Gordy's next door is where we rented a boat and jetskis to tool around on during the day. We had a fun cocktail and lunch at their waterfront dining area and then everyone headed to Chuck's, the local watering hole at night. I'm 26 and I'm speaking on behalf of my parents and everyone else in the family when I say that this was the best vacation we've ever had together. Thank you so much to John the owner for being so accommodating. Every question my Dad had he handled in a timely and friendly manner. We'll be back next summer!

Disappointed in the preparation of the house, location is very nice, but the house was not ready.

  • 2 of 5

-The house was not ready for rental. It was not prepared and ready to go for the summer rental season.

-Cob webs on the outside of the house by the doors and windows.

-Outside furniture was not cleaned off and set out for usage.

-Air Conditioning did not work and was not working by the time we left on Sunday. The house was hot all weekend. -Ceiling fans did not cool the place down and there were no other fans to try to help.

-Window screens were missing on many of the windows thus bugs would come in if we opened them.

-Windows were not easy to open. -Windows were not clean, bugs and dirt in all the windows.

-Bugs in the tub of the main level bathroom and the drain was not working.

-Missing light bulbs and burnt-out light bulbs around the house.

-No towels in the bathroom to dry hands or take a shower.

-No extra toilet paper in the bathroom, very little on roll, and once it ran out we were on a search around the house to find some however the light bulbs were out so we had to dig flashlights out of the car to try to find some.

-Bathroom door in the master Bedroom would not stay closed for people taking a shower or going to the bathroom we had to put a shoe behind the door to keep it from opening.

-The screen door off the kitchen was torn with holes and without the air conditioning we had bugs flying in through the screen. -The porch and doors going in and out were not swept or clean.

-The lights on the house for the porch were missing bulbs and the lower level had nothing working for the porch or sitting area. -The lock box was not easy to understand and we were not able to get in on Friday right away however we did find an open door so we can get in. Initial texts and calls were not responded to.

-Very nice location but disappointed in the poor preparation and the limited response to fix it as well as the lack of customer service to offset some of the charge for lack of AC and other aspects which were expected to be in place per the listing. Pictures of the place should be updated because the pictures from 2009 are nicer than reality of today 2016. I was paying a high price and expected to get a very nice place in good working order, thus the fair rating. The price needs to be aligned with the working condition not just the location. I was expecting to get a discount or a refund of part of my payment due to the problems, however nothing was given when I requested some compromise.

BEWARE - Pay Up front to ensure no double booking

  • 1 of 5

We booked the house in February of this year (2016). The contract stated that we needed to make first payment 30 days before the rental which was set for Jun 17. We had correspondence with the owner where he confirmed our reservation via email in April (he was very hard to get a hold of) and then sent him a check per our phone conversation in early June. Although the check was sent less than 30 days before the rental all of our correspondence with the owner confirmed we still had the reservation.

Then 3 DAYS BEFORE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE the owner called and cancelled as he double booked the property. He stated he had a group book in March who paid in full - note that we booked in February and were not contractually obligated to make a payment until May.....AKA BEWARE! Make sure you pay in full but also note there is a clause on the contract that he can cancel at any time. Although he was hard to get a hold of, we did receive confirmation for our rental and tried to confirm payment many times (including as early as February) - he seemed disorganized and chalked it up to a clerical error.

NOTE: He did try to find us another rental and offered us his friend's home which is not normally used as a rental. He did try to do right by us, but the offering was not comparable to what we booked. I recognize that our payment was within the 30 day window, but based on his timeline he double booked on us already in March even though he confirmed we had the reservation in April.
