This is a very nice, clean, private home on a quiet dead-end street. This home is right on the Lake Freeman. There is a furnished, covered boathouse deck directly over the water. The boathouse is non-functioning. The water is 16 feet deep and includes a pier which is great for sunbathing and fishing. No diving. The backyard is fenced in so you can contain your pets or kids. There is no fence around the boathouse. Sandy swimming beaches are available within short distance by car or boat. Your boat can be launched about 1 mile away or you can rent a boat or jet ski's at nearby Lake Schafer. Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park is only 2 miles away. You can go-cart or play miniature golf with 2 miles. There's a wonderful, old drive-in theater located within 2 miles. You can hike along the beautiful Wabash River and visit the BattleGround Museum ,State Park, Wolf Park and horseback riding all within a 20 minute drive. There are several golf courses within a few miles.
Madame Carroll: The Madame Carroll is a large boat that holds 400 people. It rides exclusively around Lake Freeman on the weekends. There's a different band every weekend. Cost is $12.00 . You can stay on the boat for 2 or 4 hrs for the same price. They also offer dinner cruises.
There are 3 golf courses available within 5 miles of the cottage. 1. Tippecanoe Country Club, 2. Pine View Golf Course and 3. Hollow Acres on U.S. 421 S.
going here was a great idea. it was a last minute decision to 1) find a weekend getaway house 2) within 2 hours of Chicago 3) on water 4) and have it be a quality place my 8 month pregnant wife would be comfortable in.
this cabin did all four for us. beds were nice and firm and the air conditioning was rock solid. we grilled, fished, swam, but mostly hung out in the shade above the boat house and read.
if you are looking for a non-recreational lake (ie no water skiing, tubing, etc) this is not for you.
Our family of four (mom, dad, & 2 teenagers) enjoyed this western-themed home! We felt very comfortable on the property. The home was clean & well equiped. The beds & furniture were comfortable. We enjoyed fishing, swimming, floating, & soaking up the sun. We visited Indiana Beach, rented some jet skis, did some local shopping, & explored some local dining. The back yard was lovely with plants & flowers. The elevated deck was peaceful & the view of the lake was nice. It was awesome to be right on the water. Bob was easy to work with & kindly pointed out highlights of the town. Thank you for sharing your unique lake home with our family!
This wonderful lake cabin was the ideal place for our group of three couples meeting up from various parts of the state to celebrate a birthday and long-time friendships for the weekend. Even in the cold weather, we still thoroughly enjoyed the view of the lights shining off the lake at night and took in the stars from the back boat deck. The western and Native American decor and memorabilia was the icing on the cake - great place...truly hope to be back! -- The six
This vacation home was amazing. I've been to Cancun and Jamaica and I must say I had a way better vacation at this house on the lake. The sun rises were to die for. The views of the patio of the lake were incredible. They could easily be on a post card. This house is extremely comfortable, well equipped, and something your family will always remember. I loved the back yard because it was completely shaded in and if you wanted to be in the sun you could by walking down a couple steps by the water. The neighbors are great too, very nice and welcoming. The friends and family that stopped by to visit were blown away. They wanted to know how I found this spot and how they could rent it also. Honestly this place is to die for. I was kinda worried beforehand on how everything was going to be, what to bring, and if the description was accurate. upon arrival all my worries were put to rest. I would highly recommend this to anyone regardless to age. The owner of this property was extremely nice and pushes you to enjoy his home and your vacation. Which was fantastic!
We loved this gorgeous little cottage and had a fabulous time there this weekend. The descriptions given are very accurate and Bob and Maureen are easy to work with and accommodating. The cottage was very clean and the beds are really comfortable, which is sometimes hard to find in a rental. We loved being able to take our dogs with us, and they enjoyed the fenced yard. The fence to the north side of the home is really a low wall and our younger dog was capable of jumping it. I wouldn't leave pets unattended outdoors at any point, but the yard is most definitely contained enough to let your pets out after dark without much worry that they are going to wander off. The boathouse roof is just a fantastic place to hang out and relax and we truly spent most of our at home time out there. The Sportsman Inn had really good food and the people in the area were very friendly. If you are taking a boat, you need to be mindful of Bob's good advice and plan to take your boat out of the water at night or if you are tying up for really any length of time. The docks at this cottage cannot accommodate your boat overnight. A storm blew up while we were there and I can imagine your boat would be very damaged if it were tied up to the dock there.(Bob mentioned they don't own a boat so I'm trying to include boating details) Dodge Camp is close and convenient and it costs $10 to launch there. The kitchen is well equipped and you could cook just about anything. If you are finicky about measurements take your own measuring cups and spoons. If they are there I did not find them. Outdoor shower was a big hit with all. If you take your boat north past the sandbar watch for stumps and follow the people who seem to know where they are going so you can stay in the deep channel. The lack of TV led to the playing of games, even charades, and actual conversation with our middle school age sons. Amazing!!
I have stayed at many vacation rentals and I have never wrote a review before now. This was just what is described and if you are looking for a place to escape the fast pace of everyday life, look no further... Kitchen is well stocked, Beds are very comfy, The decor is fabulous, and the Boat House is just what a person needs to idle away the day as well as the evening, right after you enjoy the outdoor shower, which we LOVED...Bob and Maureen are very easy to work with and want you to be happy. The only reason I hated to write this review was because I hate to give away this little piece of heaven I discovered.
