This newly remodeled cottage is tucked away on a beautifully landscaped lot with a gentle slope down to the water. Catch walleye, bass & pike from the private dock. Swim from the hard sandy beach. Relax in the hot tub while watching the sun set.
You’ll love the lakeside porch with private hot tub, BBQ grill and relaxing patio furniture. The lawn is as nice as a golf course and is perfect for croquet, badminton or any other activity. There is a beach side fire pit, too, for those awesome summer nights.
The cottage is 1000 square feet and was completely updated in 2009. Enjoy sunsets or lazy afternoons from the amazing, brand new knotty pine enclosed porch. The living room has WIFI, a flat panel HD TV with DVD player and comfortable sectional with ottoman. The kitchen has a nice stone countertop / bar and is fully equipped with stove, microwave, toaster, blender, refrigerator, etc.
The bathroom has been completely updated with tile floors and stand up shower. There is a laundry room with washer / dryer. Upstairs you will find 2 bedrooms with the master bedroom containing a queen bed and flat panel HD TV and incredible views of the lake. The second bedroom also has amazing views, along with a log bunk bed (VERY comfortable!).
The cottage is only about 4 miles from Interlochen Arts Academy; 2 miles from the legendary Boone’s Steakhouse; and 10 miles to downtown Traverse City.

We love Traverse City and Long Lake is the premiere lake in all of northern Michigan. We enjoy sharing everything that the region offers with our old and new friends.
HOT TUB, Private sandy beach, fire pit, great fishing, beautiful views / lawn private setting
We drove up from Nashville, TN with our 3 boys (17/8/7) for the week as a family vacation. First thing they said upon arrival was "we're never leaving". First night they caught a few bass off the dock, like mentioned in the listing. We rented a boat for the week and moored it off the sandy beach. Rather than do the tourist thing in town, we just spent the whole week on the lake tubing, fishing, swimming, hitting the islands, and then campfires & smores at night. Met the neighbors and they're just wonderful people. The cottage was comfortable with plenty of room for the 5 of us. The owner was very helpful and communicated all info to us effectively. Everything worked properly at the cottage and the pictures/descriptions posted here are accurate. Well, no picture can do justice to summer sunsets on the lake here. We absolutely loved our time and hope to be back.
We stayed at The Hideout for a "girls getaway" and it was perfect. This spotless cottage is nicely decorated and has everything: great kitchen, super comfortable beds, hot tub (loved it!), washer / dryer, sandy beach, sunset views, close to everything in Traverse City. We grilled out every night and drank wine on the patio. We blew a fuse when 3 of use were blow drying our hair at the same time and the owner was friendly and responsive and fixed the problem right away. My sister already booked this cottage for her family vacation next summer.
This was our third time staying at this cottage. We love everything about it. It's clean, updated, has great amenities and the most break-taking views on Long Lake. It's located close to downtown TC, too, as well as about a half an hour from Sleeping Bear Dunes.
We just got back from our week up north and rented this cabin. We absolutely loved it. It was one of the best cottages we have rented. It was very clean and well kept. It was my mom's 70th birthday so my sister and I took her up north for a week for a nice relaxing memorable birthday. My 16 month old niece was also with us. My sister and I shared the bunk bed room (we are 40 and 42 years old) and it brought us back to our childhood days and made us feel like kids again. We never did get a chance to use the hot tub (bummer) but we used the paddle boat and kayak each day. Long lake is awesome and much bigger than we expected! We hope to definitely stay here again. This place is set back farther from the other cottages making it nice and private. Thanks Mike for letting us stay in your wonderful cabin! If I could make one suggestion it would be that the kitchen needs a new frying pan as the one that is there doesn't do very well for frying eggs and bacon so we went to the store and got our own. Nothing major. If that is the worst thing I can say about your place than you definitely have a great place, because trust me, we can be a tough crowd to please! :)
Our family loved our time here! We had so much playing in the lake and exploring beautiful Traverse City. The cottage is a great layout that allows for relaxing and spending time together, without feeling like you are really "roughing it"- its the best of both worlds. Relaxing, comfortably! Our favorite! I look forward to visiting again, it was a awesome!
This cottage was adorable, relaxing, private and almost perfect! It has everything you could ask for in a getaway, except the beds were extremly uncomfortable. I bed in the master end was great, but the other options for sleeping left a few of us sleepless. I am sure if we were kids they could have been fine. But just not great for adults. Also the hot tub wasn't working which is what all 4 of us were thinking forward to the most.
But when all is said and done this is a nice place to go!
