Our spectacular home was recently remodeled and redecorated, with an eye to creating a casual seaside atmosphere. Located in the exclusive section of The Point where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Bay, this is one of the few homes privileged to have the pristine sand beaches of the Gulf in the backyard and the crystal blue waters of the Bay in the front yard.
Perfect for any occasion, this extra-special, two story beach house boasts 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 kitchens, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, and breathtaking views of the Gulf and Bay from every room.
We are proud that everyone refers to our home, as the nicest beach house on The Point.
4 sets of french doors open to the gulf, immaculate heart pine floors throughout. Hotel quality linens and down pillows on every bed. Memory foam mattresses. Not a detail was overlooked.
It's a very special place.....
Our 4800sf home lays out as follows:
Master bedroom (captains quarters) has a king bed, private bath, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with unimaginable gulf frontage and windows with views of the bay. Fall asleep listening the the waves lapping on the beach.
Admirals Quarters has a queen bed, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with the same gulf frontage as the Master, windows with views of the bay.
Skippers Quarters has a queen bed, amazing views of both the gulf and the bay.
Crews Quarters has 2 twin beds, set in bahama style with a custom built table between. Breathtaking views of the gulf and the bay.
Living room has overstuffed down filled furniture, complimented with nautical theme decorations, mosaic glass tile fireplace, sea glass, mahogany ship wheel, oars, etc. Despite the upscale quality of the furnishings and artwork - our home has conquered the challenge of retaining the coveted 'beach house' feel. Very inviting, casual and extremely comfortable.
The dining room is comprised of a heart pine table and 8 chairs. The kitchen bar seats 4. As most meals are served family style, on the Gulf Porch, there is a teak table, which seats 12 comfortably.
The kitchen has everything, pans of every dimension, crab/lobster pots, roasting pans, poultry racks, crock pots, blenders, cast iron skillets, warming trays, all hand tools and even.....a stick blender. Bosch espresso/cappuccino maker accepts Tassimo pods.
On the Bay side of the house, we have a large covered porch (25'x25') Patio furniture surrounding a marble mosaic table. High end propane grill with convenient fold out stainless prep table.
The Gulf Porch is covered and screened, it is 48' x 12'. Long teak dining table, 5 rocking chairs, a teak couch w/ teak occasional tables, and ..... everyone's favorite.... the 2 person quilted hammock. This porch is everyone's favorite place to hang out.
Just off the Gulf Porch is what we call the 'Sunset Deck'. Some call it the 'Sun Bathing Porch', and my kid's call it the 'Dolphin Watching Porch'. My favorite place to watch the stars at night. For your viewing pleasure, we have a high powered telescope.
Schools of dolphin swim by at least twice per day - and occasionally you will find them swimming around the dock.
We achieved our goal of creating the 'feel' of the downstairs to be ''ole Florida rambling beach house'. It has 2 bedrooms/1 bath, a morning kitchen, a living room and a ping-pong table. It lays out as follows....
The Mermaids Quarters has a Queen size bed and eye level views of the beach.
The Bunk room (Pirates Quarters) has 1 set of bunk beds (2 twins stacked). We built the room so the little tikes in the bunk beds could fall asleep watching the stars.
In the downstairs living room there are 2 brand new queen size sleeper sofas.
The downstairs is beach level :) Designed so that beach-goers can come in and out with ease. The floors are beach proof! (no sand or water worries)
There is a morning kitchen downstairs, with a fridge/ice maker, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, etc.
You can walk right in from the pool or beach grab a beverage, make a cocktail or sandwich, go to the bathroom--- all without going upstairs.
There is yet another covered porch downstairs, with a teak table that seats at least 10, a teak porch swing and a covered sand play area - which is great for when the kids have had too much sun.
Downstairs living room has comfortable seating with cushioned wicker chairs, atop jute carpets.
What key features make our beach house stand out among the others??????
Guests may fish/crab from the 300’ private dock or tie your boat off to the anchor buoy located adjacent to the dock.
Elevator - I learned this lesson when I rented my first beach house. I spent hours lugging suitcases, groceries, coolers, baggage, parents and kids up 2 flights of stairs! With an elevator, just load 'em all in the elevator and press UP!
Boardwalk to Beach - many beach houses just have a beaten path over the dunes, which can be difficult. We have a wide boardwalk directly to the sand - keeping bare feet safe all the way to the beach.
Covered Porches - Expansive covered porches on both watersides of our home are an absolute necessity for a comfortable reprise from the sun.
If you're looking for the 'home away from home' vacation, and you want it to be simple and carefree- our home is for you.
Beach towels, hair dryers in each bathroom, household/laundry products included.
Please know when you are renting one of my homes you don’t have the extra costs or aggravation of renting beach chairs, chaise lounges, umbrellas, beach/pool towels, beach toys, etc.
Our homes all come completely stocked, which saves you time, money, aggravation and suitcase space,,,,,, items such as: shampoo, body wash, laundry products, paper towels, paper products, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, baggies, garbage bags, cleaning products, every spice you could imagine, olive oil, coffee, etc. etc. etc. All you really need to do is, bring your luggage and groceries and alllll the rest is already there.

Linda ODonnell purchased this house in 2007
When the decision was made to purchase a beach house, I drove every beach front property from Shell Point Florida to Gulf Shores Alabama. I chose Alligator Point first and then I chose this home.
The closest public access is several miles down the beach, so there are never any strangers or crowds on our beach. That's important to me.
Uncrowded Beaches - I prefer to hear the dolphins breathing and the seagulls chirping, as opposed to chatter from beach combers.
With the home came an unexpected delightful bonus.... It is the only place on the earth (that I have ever been), where you can watch the sunrise and sunset from the same porch.
Elevator - No lugging coolers, suitcases, kids and up a flight of stairs.
Ground level kitchen and bathroom - so convenient on beach days.
300' private dock, fish and crab in your own space. Makes loading and unloading the boat an effortless task.
Anchor Buoy - no need to launch the boat everyday, just tie off at the anchor buoy.
Wooden Boardwalk to the beach
This beach house gives me peace, calms the soul.
Thank you so much everything. We had a blast. Your location and your beautiful home were PERFECT for our entire family. We have tried for years to find a place that has Beach, Boating, Golfing and Fishing and upscale accommodations. WE'VE FOUND OUR PLACE.
Your home is amazing. We so appreciated how well stocked it is. An absolute paradise you have here.
The Beach is beautiful, miles and miles of white sand. We walked all the way around the point, the nature conservancy, and came back out on the bay side, just in time for a perfect lunch and cocktail at the Tiki Hut.
We rented a boat from Wefings. They were a delight to deal with. Delivered the boat to the house and tied it off at the buoy in the bay. We fished the bay and went out to the gulf. A school of dolphins followed for many miles. It was rad.
We golfed at St. James Bay. This is a very fine golf course, we were quite impressed. Some of us shot our best game ever. We had lunch there which was quite tasty.
Thanks for hooking us up with Mike from St. Marks Outfitters. He speaks quite highly of you BTW :) We kayaking down the Wakulla saw nature at it's fines, crystal clear water made for successful kayak fishing. We had never done that before, and can't wait to do it again.
We chartered a boat for a 1/2 day of deep sea fishing. Caught black grouper, red snapper and sea bass. The crew cleaned and fileted all.
Our family has voted, and it is unanimous - we're doing this every year!
We had a great week at Alligator point. The house was beautiful and the pool was amazing. There is hardly anyone on the beach. We saw more wildlife on this beach than any other. Dolphins , stingrays, star fish, conch shells, and different crabs and birds . Linda was very helpful and took care of all our needs. We took two day trips one to St. Marks wildlife refuge and to the aquatic Laboratory. This beach is very secluded and private which we loved. We would definitely like to come back again!
Wonderful property! Beautiful views! My family had a wonderful time!
Ship 2 Shore is a wonderful vacation home. It has all of the amenities anyone could ask for. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices and every utensil you could possibly need. We had never seen such an abundance of marine life in the ocean--star fish, huge sea shells, crabs (yes we caught some in the bay and cooked them--delicious), dolphins. Quite an adventure for my adult children and grandchildren. The few problems that we had with the home were quickly addressed by the owner. The beds are very comfortable and the decorations in the house are gorgeous. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck watching the sunset and on the back "sun deck" watching the starts at night. It is amazing how many stars you can see when there are no city lights around--beautiful. We were blessed to have a full moon while we were there which made the reflection off of the gulf absolutely stunning. We enjoyed the "touch" Aquarium in Panacea--great place. There were a couple of problems with the home, but they were addressed quickly by the owner. Thanks Linda for sharing your beautiful vacation home with my family.
Ship 2 Shore was a beautiful home that was beautifully and tastefully decorated. When we arrived, the house was extremely clean. There was nothing the kitchen didn't have. Since we flew, it was great having all the beach towels we needed as well as beach chairs and equipment. The favorite part for the teenagers was the downstairs. It was like their own 2 bedroom apartment which was very private from the main house and the pool area was just out their living room door. The favorite part for the adults was the HUGE screened in porch with the large eating area. We spent most of our free time and meal times enjoying the bug free breeze overlooking the beach. Having the bay with the nice pier out our front door was a plus for the people who liked to fish. The brand new pool overlooking the beach was a HUGE plus especially since the ocean water was full of seaweed most of that week because of the storms the weeks prior to our stay as well as at night during our stay. The beach was still beautiful. It was different than the Destin and Gulf Shores areas. It was level and harder by the water so we could easily take our walks each morning on the beach with out getting loads of sand in our tennis shoes. We've been doing these family vacations on the Gulf Coast for the past 19 out of the last 22 years. We've never had an elevator in any of the homes we have rented. That was a huge plus when bringing up the luggage as well as after we made our huge grocery run. Making the elevator work is a little tricky. Be sure and read the directions before you use it. Keep in mind, Ship to Shore is very secluded, and we liked that. Just make sure you make the grocery run on the way in from Tallahassee since the nearest Walmart is 45 minutes away from the house. There is a very small grocery 20 minutes away. Linda was great in giving suggestions on where to eat out, buy fresh seafood, buy groceries, etc. We did have one problem. The first night we wanted to grill chicken but the propane tank was empty. There was an extra charcoal grill, but it was rusted through. We were instructed the next day where to go 20 minutes away to buy the propane. My suggestion is to have an extra propane tank, and check it each time after the guests leave so that way no one needs to be inconvenienced. One other suggestion, since the house is far from town, a ping pong table or foosball table would be nice. Overall, it was a lovely home and a fabulous vacation!
Ship 2 Shore is a beautiful home, and well maintained. The whole family, plus pets had a wonderful time.
Thanks for a great family vacation! The owner Linda was a pleasure to deal with as she provided recommendations on what to bring and what not to bring, the best driving route, restaurants, and grocery shopping. She answered every question. The house itself was very representative of the pictures and was very nice. Having the elevator to bring all our bags and stuff up from the car was definitely a plus! The furnishings and everything in the house was nice. You can certainly tell the difference between the back of the house that faces the gulf versus the front that faces the bay as the salt air had caused paint to start peeling and the ceiling fans on the back porch to rust. Of the 2 ceiling fans on the back porch, the one near the hammock did not work, and I am sure that is from continued exposure to the salt air. This didn't bother us, but the back porch will need some maintenance soon.
The beach is only a few steps away on your private boardwalk. All in all the beach was very nice, but if you are looking for crystal blue waters, you will not find that on Alligator Point. The water is on the brownish side and about half of the 7 days we were there, a good bit of something like river grass was in the water and would wash up on the beach at high tide. One thing that was really nice was that there is a sandbar about 50-75 feet out that made the water shallow and smooth which was perfect for the 4 children ranging from 1 to 7 years old as they could play and have fun in the water. The water was nice and warm. It was also great to be able to set up our chairs, umbrellas and a canopy on the day we arrived and not have to take everything up until we were ready to leave. All week we only saw a couple other families on the beach and they were at least 5 or 6 houses away in either direction. We brought beach chairs and umbrellas, but we really didn't need to as Linda had everything there including a few boogie boards and lots of sand toys for the kids. I didn't count how many beach chairs she had, so if you have some favorites you might want to bring them.
We only went out to eat twice. Once to Angelo's and Sons that had a great view of the water. The food was pretty good and the portions were large, but it was a little pricey and the area we sat in was warm. The other was Tropical Trader Shrimp Co which was very good and a very local atmosphere. I highly recommend it. We ordered pizza from Big Daddy's 1 night and it is overpriced. I wouldn't recommend it
