Great long weekend at Johnson Homestead
Everything was exactly as listed, except better. the views from the front and back of the house were spectacular! the children enjoyed the back yard "playground" as well as swimming and climbing rocks at Little Harbor. David Johnson was very helpful and available if needed. We definitely found a treasure and a true delight on Bailey Island.
We absolutely love this location. The sunrise and sunset are literally at your door. The owner is very responsive.
Everything was great - clean, comfortable, well equipped.
Spectacular views front and back - unbelievably beautiful sunsets. Owner was friendly and accommodating. We hope to return!
Very nice for the price. gorgeous sunsets from the front window. Short walk out the back to Cove.
There were six of us at the house. Grandparents, parents and 2 small children. The house very adequately met our needs.
Our grandson loved the cove beach area behind the house and the slide in the backyard.
I got up to enjoy the sunrise from the back porch glider. We all enjoyed the sunsets from the picture window.
Very relaxing and comfortable stay
There were three generations of us at the Johnson homestead and we all felt comfortable and at home. Dave, our host took the grandchildren on his lobster boat and they were thrilled. Baileys Island is a quiet and restful place with excellent restaurants and natural beauty. Visiting the Bowdoin Musems was an added pleasure. It equals the best of our other Maine vacations.
So good, we keep coming back!
The location is great with sunrise, sunset, and water access. The house is well equipped and comfortable, great for families. This is our third year, and we’ll definitely be back again!
Bailey Island is the last in a series of picturesque islands connected to the mainland by three bridges, the last of which is the famous 'Cribstone Bridge'. It is about a twenty minute drive down Rte 24 from Cooks Corner in Brunswick. People considering staying on Bailey Island, but unfamiliar with the area may wish to note the following:There are grocery stores, shopping malls, a cinema, major chain and numerous local restaurants /retail outlets, fitness centers, medical facilities (including two hospitals), golf courses, Bowdoin College, Bath Maritime Museum, and, and other attractions within a half hour drive in the Brunswick/Topsham/Bath area.
Freeport, the home to LLBean, is a 45 minute drive while Portland is about a one hour drive away.
While you may just want to relax and enjoy the beauty of Bailey Island, the region offers a variety of sights, activities, and resources for our guests.
