Hogie and Connie just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary and are blessed with 4 children and 15 grand children. Hogie works as a builder with his own company called HISBIZ and Connie as a realtor with TrailsWest Realty in Bigfork, MT. We love our family and feel so blessed to live in the most beautiful place on this planet.
Harold Hogan purchased this house in 2007
We built this custom home on property that is able to give capture the beauty of lake and mountain views and the special Montana sunrises that are literally breathtaking most every morning. You have the feel of flying since it is situated 800 feet above the lake level.
The view from the home and deck is outstanding. The home was very clean . Kitchen well furnished.nicely decorated home with comfortable furniture. Close to other small towns. We saw deer every day from the deck. The owner,Hogie, met us upon arrival to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The ping-pong table was a plus. We would suggest that Hogie give a walk through for the fans, lighting and tv upon arrival. We would not hesitate renting this home in the future.
Follow the turn-by-turn directions on the App - you will likely lose cell service intermittently when driving up into the hills where the home is, and your map App on your phone likely won't work. Wi-Fi at the home worked great. Although not clear on the website, the property has four physically separated sleeping areas/bathrooms on three different floors which made it easy for our kids and their kids to have their own place to sleep without fussy little ones disturbing other families. (The exception is the Gameroom/bedroom, which although the most physically separated only has a half-bath.) The kitchen lacks a large crock pot (we brought our own) and a Kitchen Aid mixer (there is a hand held mixer), but is otherwise well appointed. Very nice separate laundry with a large washer and dryer. The large deck is right off the Great Room and is well furnished with chairs and table (and a gas grill). We really enjoyed our mornings and evenings out there. The view from the Great Room and deck is just as beautiful as the pictures, and we saw deer (either by the pool or in the yard) daily. Our family favorite was definitely the large wading pool (about 30 feet across and gently sloped from all sides to about 2' deep at the center) - the kids (and the adults) loved it! That feature is definitely what sets this property apart from others, and it served to very effectively entertain (and cool) the kids (and the adults). Again not clear from the website is that the pool is a pretty steep hike down from the cabin over a well attended lawn that can be quite slippery. Unfortunately our stay was in August during a week when the daily high temperatures were most often in the 90s. In a home without air conditioning (or an effective way to bring cooler outside air into the house at night) the days were uncomfortable and it took quite a while at night (particularly in the master bedroom on the top floor) for it to get cool enough to sleep. Ceiling and floor fans in each room helped, but box fans that would fit in the windows would have been far more effective at night. Hogie (I wonder if his friends call him Gyro) was terrific, responsive and accommodating, and the property was clean and well maintained inside and out. Temperatures notwithstanding, we had a wonderful stay!
My family of 12 came from several states and we had a wonderful stay at this amazing home. Thanks to the design of this gorgeous home, we were able to have some privacy; we also had several areas inside to play. Daily we arose to wildlife in the yard. Although we had several fun things planned to do in the area, often we were just content staying at the house. The kids were thrilled with the play area and we could watch them from the huge picture windows or deck. We took turns with meals in their fabulous kitchen but there was plenty of room for everyone to work together. We finally ventured out to Glacier Park, the waterslides, Whitefish mountain activities, Kalispel, for huckleberry shakes, and a party barge day on the lake. The owners made a quick repair to the laundry room and was so easy to work with on any requests. Thank you for everything!
The home was exactly as the description says and looks like the pictures posted! Felt at home! The property was mowed and the home very clean! The owner was very helpful and explained things to us well! Would definitely recommend this property! It was beautiful!
Our stay included four young families. The yard was a great place for the kids to run and play. The deck had fantastic views of the lake. The pool was great. A great stay!!
A beautifully built house with views of flathead lake. The owners were super helpful ! We enjoyed with our kids the little wading pool, as well as jaunts into glacier park, the Americana museum in Polson as well as the national bison range!
Flathead Lake is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi and known as a boaters paradise for both the sailing enthusiast or motorized party. We are located just one hour from the entrance of Glacier National Park. This is a photographer's paradise. Hiking is a top recreational sport with numerous trails in every direction. We are known for top notch fly fishing as well as white water rafting down our crystal blue rivers. The valley is home to music and art festivals almost every weekend and if a night of fine dining and live theater is an interest be certain to put Whitefish and Bigfork on your list to visit. If you are here for a week or a month you will find the supply of activities to be endless.
