A sweet page from Coronado's past, the cottage was reportedly home to Wallis Simpson's Navy Lt. husband.... after she departed the island to change England's history forever.
Located a block and a half from one of the Top Ten Family beaches in the United States, four blocks from the charming downtown with its' shops and restaurants, four blocks from the amazing child-friendly library, a block from a green park and four blocks from Spreckle's park with all its' play equipment for toddlers and weekly summer concerts...the cottage is right in the middle of the village.
While not new and modern, the cottage is charming, cute, cozy and comfy. It has all the ambiance of Coronado, past and present.
There is wireless internet, digital cable, HBO, flat screen tvs, a dishwasher and flower boxes.
Come and discover this tiny treasure... in the middle of this lovely island community.
My husband & I with our son celebrated his 25th birthday & July 4th. The cottage was perfect for us! The master ...wonderfully comfortable king size bed... Was on the upper level so our son could come and go in the bedroom downstairs -- also with an ensuite full bath. There was a very sweet bedroom upstairs with a oversized twin bed . I imagine it would be perfect for a young lady. The kitchen is small so be aware that it would be perfect for one cook. --- amazingly equipped with some lovely serving dishes and all the items needed to cook a full meal for your family. There is also a small bbq -- we did not use it. What I LIKED MOST? The many areas to sit outside ... One upstairs off the girls room that was fabulous for reading for one person. Lynne was very welcoming and prepared the home for comfort, don't be concerned about the white furniture as she will tell you that it is all washable. We use a tray on the Otoman for our beverages and snacks so it doubled as a foot stool and table . We hope to go back. I would say perfect for a small family.
My family of 4 stayed in this adorable cottage the week of Thanksgiving. From start to finish, Lynne was a dream to work with. She was quick to respond, and always had an answer to any question. The cottage is small, but quaint. We very much felt like we were living in our own home. It was comfortable, and just right in every way. The location could not have been more perfect. Walking to the beach and Orange Ave was such a pleasure! I would say the only draw back was the one parking spot by the garage is very small, but it would not have been a problem to park on the street and walk a few yards to the house. We basically parked our car and walked everywhere the whole week. I would say if you are looking for a comfortable, centrally located property that is managed by a great landlord, this is the one for you!
This is a perfectly adorable little cottage in the most desirable part of town. It is so convenient to everything! I stayed for the whole month of January. Coronado is my "happy place" so I was determined to immerse myself for a month to get the true feel of it. I was there for a week with my husband, then a week with a gal friend, then a few days by myself, then a long weekend with my husband and our Seattle grand kids and finally the last two weeks just my husband and myself again. The cottage was perfect for all of the above! I felt very safe by myself and yet when family was there we all watched the Super Bowl on the large flat screen TV in the living room. There really are three bedrooms and two baths, a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer! All the comforts and conveniences in a cottage covered with vines and flower boxes. Lynne could not be more hospitable, and takes great pride in her properties. We all loved walking to the beach and to town, and riding bikes all over the place! And did I mention, the weather was perfect? We will be back not soon enough.
I had a wonderful stay at this adorable cottage. Lynne is a sweetheart and very attentive to any needs. Knowing I had a later afternoon flight into San Diego, she had a few things in the refrigerator in case I couldn't do grocery shopping that day. Everything necessary was furnished and so comfortable that I immediately felt at home. I did not have a car and one is not needed on that beautiful island. The beach is one and half blocks away, and the downtown area and the Dell are short and enjoyable walks. Some day I hope to return for another enjoyable stay. Thank you Lynne for sharing your very special cottage.
Our family had the pleasure to spend an amaxingly relaxing vacation at the cottage last month. We had stayed here years ago and returned to find the cottage in immaculate condition with all the comforts imaginable. The owner, Lynne, is truly a gem. Her attention to detail and concern for us while guests of hers was terrific.
The cottage has everything you could want. The bedding is so comfortable, the little porch off an upstairs bedroom is the perfect spot to enjoy the cool, fresh Coronado breezes. The modern conveniences, wireless internet, flat screen TVs etc all work seamlessly. The best beach on earth is a short 3 minute walk. There are bicycles and beach chairs waiting for you in the garage.
We have utilized VRBO many times and have always been pleased with our experience but nothing compares to "our little cottage" on Olive Lane.
