Private Barrier Beach Access by boat or 1 mile drive to public beach. The waves at Green Hill are mild but rideable and there's rocks to find starfish and crabs in providing hours of fun for your children. Our road is quiet/private, lined with several small cottages of almost all owner residents. Green Hill Park is just a short walk away, featuring tennis, basketball hoops and a playground with swings and slides and things to climb on. Our beach home is nestled in the Green Hill community with narrow streets and little traffic, perfect for walks with little ones. Within close proximity to Trustom Park with nature trails and bird watching and Theater By the Sea.
Take long (or short) walks. Ride your bikes and enjoy the view from so many different spots in the neighborhood. We live in an exclusive area of the Rhode Island shore. We also live a couple of miles from Shelter Cove Marina in Charlestown where you can rent a kayak and enjoy fried clams or scallops at the famed Johnny's Angel's clam shack. Ocean House Marina is just 3 miles away where you can rent a small motor boat, take a sunset cruise, buy bait and tackle. Breachway Bait & Tackle is just 2 miles away on Charlestown Beach Road. Ninigret Landing Marina is also close by. All marina's have boat launching areas and also at the Charlestown Breachway. There are about 5 ice cream spots, a general store and two large supermarkets, The Cove restaurant and The Breachway Grill, all within a close proximity.
From your own private dock you can fish and catch blue shell crabs, which are great eating! Charlestown Breachway and the surrounding waters are famous for fishing. Catch your own dinner! Swimming in the channels is also great fun. A good place to anchor and just spend the day fishing and swimming.
Area Attractions include Newport and Watch Hill: Green Hill is a small beach community that sits between Matunuck and Charlestown. Within 10 minutes are excellent restaurants, beaches, and family fun spots. Westerly and Misquamicut, RI are just 15 minutes away, where you can find movies, water slides and more. I am the property manager for the Walker family. I first met them in 1967 while swimming in the ocean at Green Hill Beach. From then on we became not only the best of friends, over the years we have become family. I live in fairly close proximity to the cottage and since they are absentee owners, I am managing the family cottage for all rentals.
Charlene Ingham purchased this house in 1963
This area is a quiet and private beach area with extensive private beaches. It is on a functioning salt water pond and was chosen for its naturally high location on the pond. Located high on a grassy hill, the views are spectacular. The area is also well known for its clamming, fishing and crabbing.
Spectacular sunsets over Green Hill Pond, warm summer breezes, dock with place for boats, crabbing, fishing and swimming. Large plush lawn and yard with outdoor shower, furniture and grill. Private pond-front, sandy beach on property.
I had the extreme pleasure of staying at the Walker Cottage in June 2016. From my initial contact with Charlene Ingham to the return of my deposit, every aspect of the business side of the rental was absolutely top draw professional.
The Cottage itself is everything you need for a spectacular stay on one of the most peaceful peninsulas in R.I.
Wild life is everywhere. Comfortable and cozy with all amenities. Egrets, swan and crane visit regularly right outside your door.
There is a tremendous number of fine restaurants to please any foodie.
An experience well worth treating yourself to. I plan to again.
Don't let looks deceive. This compact little beach cottage has everything you could ask for in a summer vacation spot. There are two bedrooms that are comfortable enough for your stay. The kitchen has all the amenities you could ask for, including dish washer, microwave and coffee maker (I guess you can read that in the listing, but it is worth repeating that you have everything you need in the kitchen). The grill and the picnic table outside will become the center of your stay as you enjoy beautiful mornings with coffee viewing the mist coming off the pond to awesome sunsets with outdoor dining that turns into fabulous night time star gazing. You won't be spending too much time in the cottage as everything from the beach, to dining, to shopping are all close by. Pretty much everyday we woke up, took off, and didn't come back till dinner time.
The owner/manager is easy to deal with and communicates often and promptly. No worries there. A word to out of state guests - linens and towels are not supplied. This practice is common to the area, so plan in advance.
This is a great place for a family vacation. My kids loved riding their bikes around the neighborhood, fishing and crabbing from the dock and kayaking over to the private beach. I would definitely recommend renting or bringing kayaks so that you can take advantage of the private barrier beach. You can rent kayaks or canoes from the bait and tackle shop on Charlestown Beach Road. The house itself was very well maintained, clean and bright and although we didn't need it, it was nice to know that we had air conditioning available. The manager was very pleasant and easy to deal with.
