One of New Orleans' most unique vacation lodging properties: the Engine 24 French Quarter Firehouse... one of the few VRBO properties that is licensed by the City of New Orleans for short-term rentals! (City license #137126) Stay in an authentic historic firehouse while enjoying the modern amenities of this renovated gem. Much of the furniture was updated recently, too!
We are located in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, considered by many travel magazines to be one of America's hot neighborhoods. Next door is the French Quarter, one of the most historic and charming areas anywhere. And to the other side is the hip, funky Bywater, a neighborhood which, like the Faubourg Marigny, features great local eateries and cool bars.
Our guest house is a restored fire station designed to function as a comfortable home away from home for tourists and locals alike to come and enjoy the vibrant culture that is New Orleans. Formerly, this historic building housed Engine 24 of the New Orleans Fire Department! Local architect William Sonner purchased and renovated the Firehouse in the 2000s and it's now one of the city's most popular vacation rentals!
The Firehouse has three units...the Main Floor, the Penthouse and the Townhouse. Combined, they sleep 14 people comfortably and with lots of privacy. The three units provide a place that is perfect for getaways with friends, family gatherings, etc. Our three units are always rented together so all guests can enjoy the Firehouse.
The Firehouse has two large private living areas and a newly renovated New Orleans courtyard with fountain, grill, outdoor seating and more. Please remember that the Firehouse is a lodging facility. Any special events, parties, receptions, etc. must be agreed to by the facility manager and extra fee(s) will apply.
Please note: The Firehouse is a very popular building and usually books weeks or months in advance. We're often in phone or email contact with multiple groups for the same dates. The first party to initiate payment or provide proper credit will enter into a reservation with us!

The Firehouse building oozes with charm and history. The location is great, too, for those who want to be close to the craziness but in a REAL New Orleans residential neighborhood. And how often can one say they stayed in an authentic firehouse!? It's fun to imagine what it must have been like when the New Orleans Fire Department's Engine 24 called this building home for so many years. The owners and manager strive to provide a clean, comfortable and fun base from which guests can explore New Orleans.
What makes this House unique
The Faubourg Marigny is such an interesting neighborhood on its own, with great restaurants, clubs, coffee shops, etc. Fantasic 1800s architecture everywhere, too! And of course, the French Quarter is just a few blocks away, as is the French Market, the Mississippi River, St. Roch Market (a must-visit on your stay) and more. If you're visiting for a sports weekend, both the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center are a quick 1-2 miles away.

Such a fun place!
13 of us stayed here to celebrate our Friends 40th. We loved the place and loved the courtyard where we would all hangout. The stairs were definitely a work out to get to the penthouse and main living room but helped burned off all the calories from the amazing food. Beth was awesome and very accommodating. Thank you!
Beautiful property with lots of space
Our family reunion was a success at this property!! The location gave us ample space to host 14 of us both in the courtyard and the upstairs living room. 5 of the 7 bedrooms do have stairs to get to them so make sure your group is able to walk the stairs. We had a blast and the code entry made it easy for us to separate to do our own things or leave together as a group depending on our day. Beth was so easy to work with and accomodating from the first email sent. Thank you for being so willing to adjust to our scheduling! I would absolutely suggest this property, we loved it!
This is the perfect property for a large group. Quiet neighborhood just outside of the French Quarter that can be very noisy all night long. Nice to have a full kitchen as well.
There were 12 of us in town for a wedding and this place is AMAZING. Beth and John were so easy to work with. The property was close enough to everything that we walked mainly. There are great little local bars and restaurants close to the property. I would absolutely stay here again.
What an experience!
We had a great time! Lots of room for all who were with us! Loved sitting in the big room upstairs every morning drinking coffee and laughing about all the fun we had!!
Within 15-20 blocks of the Firehouse are several HUNDRED bars and restaurants, museums, music clubs, shops, etc. You'll also find amazing 19th century architecture, including the Firehouse itself! The Firehouse is formerly a New Orleans Fire Department neighborhood station housing Engine 24, renovated into a guest house in 2004.

Taxes must be collected by ALL lodging properties in the State of Louisiana. There are no exceptions. Properties not collecting tax are not legit rentals. Tax rate valid of 1/1/17 and is subject to change should governmental authorities (city/state) change the tax rate. Cancellation policy: 90% of initial deposit refunded if cancelled 90 days prior to the Check-in Date 50% of initial deposit refunded if cancelled 61-89 days prior to the Check-in Date no deposit refund if cancelled 31-59 days prior to the Check-in Date The full balance will be charged 60 days prior to the Check-in Date and is non refundable at that point. For late cancellations within 60 days, we will attempt to rebook the unit(s). If we do, guests will receive a 80% refund.
