One of New Orleans' most unique vacation lodging properties: the Engine 24 French Quarter Firehouse... one of the few VRBO properties that is licensed by the City of New Orleans for short-term rentals! Stay in an authentic historic firehouse while enjoying the modern amenities of this renovated gem. Much of the furniture was updated recently, too!

We are located in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, considered by many travel magazines to be one of America's hot neighborhoods. Next door is the French Quarter, one of the most historic and charming areas anywhere. And to the other side is the hip, funky Bywater, a neighborhood which, like the Faubourg Marigny, features great local eateries and cool bars.

Our guest house is a restored fire station designed to function as a comfortable home away from home for tourists and locals alike to come and enjoy the vibrant culture that is New Orleans. Formerly, this historic building housed Engine 24 of the New Orleans Fire Department! Local architect William Sonner purchased and renovated the Firehouse in the 2000s and it's now one of the city's most popular vacation rentals!

The Firehouse has 7 bedrooms (each with one queen bed) and 7 baths and sleeps up to 14 people. The main Firehouse building combines with the courtyard's Townhouse building to provide a place that is perfect for getaways with friends, family gatherings, etc.

The Firehouse has two large private living areas and a newly renovated New Orleans courtyard with fountain, grill, outdoor seating and more. Please remember that the Firehouse is a lodging facility. Any special events, parties, receptions, etc. must be agreed to by the facility manager and extra fee(s) will apply.

Please note: The Firehouse is a very popular building and usually books weeks or months in advance. We're often in phone or email contact with multiple groups for the same dates. The first party to initiate payment or provide proper credit will enter into a reservation with us!

The Firehouse is owned by two successful businessmen: one a noted local architect (who oversaw the renovation!) and the other who owns/operates an popular upscale home & lifestyle store in the swanky Old Metairie neighborhood.

Why John chose Downtown

The Firehouse building oozes with charm and history. The location is great, too, for those who want to be close to the craziness but in a REAL New Orleans residential neighborhood. And how often can one say they stayed in an authentic firehouse!? It's fun to imagine what it must have been like when the New Orleans Fire Department's Engine 24 called this building home for so many years. The owners and manager strive to provide a clean, comfortable and fun base from which guests can explore New Orleans.

What makes this house unique

The Faubourg Marigny is such an interesting neighborhood on its own, with great restaurants, clubs, coffee shops, etc. Fantasic 1800s architecture everywhere, too! And of course, the French Quarter is just a few blocks away, as is the French Market, the Mississippi River, St. Roch Market (a must-visit on your stay) and more. If you're visiting for a sports weekend, both the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center are a quick 1-2 miles away.

What a great find. Cool, funky (in a good way), clean and full of character and charm. Our group of 14 guys had so much fun hanging out and celebrating our friend Brad's upcoming wedding. Low-key bachelor party with lots of quality time spent with friends. Two guys are deploying to Afghanistan next month so it was especially great to have time with them! The location not too far from Frenchmen Street is great and the French Quarter is close too. Be sure to check out Mimi's bar, one block away. Good music (but no DJ any longer) and interesting people-watching!

Amazing Stay in New Orleans

Engine 24 is a great place for large groups to stay. It is an easy walk to all areas of town and an even quicker Uber ride. The upstairs living room is a great place to hang out to pre-game or at the end of a long night. There are two rooms upstairs near the living room, the master bedroom and a guest bedroom. Downstairs in the main house has 3 rooms that have the bed up the winding staircase. The two rooms across the courtyard are nice and quiet! It's nicely decorated and enough kitchenware to make full meals or just snacks (not to mention a martini shaker which came in handy!). Our group was a mixed group of singles and couples and the place was perfect for all! Beth met us at the property and we were lucky enough to check in early since we all landed in the AM. Our stay in NOLA couldnt have been any better!!

The French Quarter Firehouse is hands down the best home rental we have ever experienced. Beautiful, historic, charming firehouse with ALL the amenities you could want. The thoughtful hosts have included all the small things you may need.....scotch tape, hairdryer, pens, full set dishwater, wine opener, snacks, multiple coffee stations, info on New Orleans etc etc etc.

We absolutely cannot wait to book again and highly recommend staying here. Experience of a lifetime. It absolutely made our Mardi Gras!!!!

Great!

Beth the house manager was amazing. It worked that no one was in the house the day before us so on our check in day We were able to drop our bags off early and head out for the day. She was very easy to contact and responded to any inquiries immediately. 7 beds and baths worked perfectly for our 14 girls. Walking distance to Frenchman street and bourbon street during the day. Most of the time we called Uber's $8-10 to Jackson square and bourbon street. It worked perfectly for our large group. Couldn't have been any better.

The Firehouse is formerly a New Orleans Fire Department neighborhood station housing Engine 24, renovated into a guest house in 2004.
