Completed in January 2010, this large home has everything you need to have your own beach home! Hand-painted Mexican tile sinks set the traditional but tasteful Hacienda tone, along with lavish use of colorful tiles...some created uniquely for this home. Located 12 miles south of the Cancun airport on a quiet stretch of beach north of the fishing village of Puerto Morelos, the gorgeous ocean view from your covered terrace is bracketed by the piers of Desire Pearl Spa/Hotel and the national marine research center UNAM.
You'll have two spacious master suites (one on the main level and one upstairs) with king beds, plus enough room for a crib or rollaway for a small child. The 3rd bedroom has a King bed and 4th bedroom has twin beds that can be made into king and also has a trundle to accommodate more children. A 5th bedroom with its own bath/shower on the first floor is equipped with twin beds that can be made up as king and functions as a 'lock-off' for smaller families but is included in pricing for groups of 8 or more.
We have a Pack & Play-type baby crib and a roll-away, plus 2 trundles w.thick pad to give flexibility to your sleeping arrangements. All 4 bedrooms have space for these additional sleeping accommodations.
A local artist created gorgeous Stained-glass entry murals to enhance the curved brick Mexican traditional boveda hallway. The kitchen features granite countertops and lots of space. A GE Profile dishwasher, garbage disposal and double-sink head the owner's list of favorite amenities, matched by the GE Profile double-door refrigerator with ice-maker connected to a bottled water system. A GE Proflie microwave, Bosch glass cooktop, TEKA gas oven and the custom range hood with powerful extractor fan complete the kitchen luxuries...but you don't want to miss out on activities while in the kitchen, so the open divider bar lets you take part in the pool and beach activities. Watch the waves roll over the reef while you prepare dinner. If you don't want to cook, there are several local catering services and plenty of restaurants around the town square.

We're Charles & Lucy, 'Los Ancianos' (elderly ones) as the plaque made as a joke says beside our front gate. Our gray/white hair (and children with gray hair!) says it all, anyway. We met 34 years ago while working in Saudi Arabia, then moved to England, so living overseas was nothing new to us. Originally from Louisiana & Tennessee, Colorado has been our home for almost 31 years at 7500 ft. elevation. Following Charles' early retirement from Mobil Oil, we have worked at running successful real estate companies and alpaca ranching in Colorado. Purchasing our first Puerto Morelos condo sight unseen in 1995, we spent occasional weeks here, wishing always that we could stay longer. After selling our real estate business, we were able to stretch the weeks to a month and then several months. Feeling the need for more space than our condo could provide and wanting bedrooms to accommodate more visitors (our 7 adult children and their families, in particular), we designed a colorful 'dream' house to fit the tiny beachfront lots in the Puerto Morelos area. Charles, early riser that he is, fell in love with the bright sunrises over the ocean. I called the bright gold and peach colors 'his mango sunrises' and when it came time to pick colors and name for our Mexico house, we decided on Villa Mango Sunrise. Now we can enjoy them from our own terrace!

We bought a condo in Puerto Morelos in 1995 and have enjoyed the town since then. It has quaint charm, friendly people and the beach is fantastic. In retirement, with more time to spend in Mexico, we looked for beach lots up and down the coast from Cancun to Tulum and finally located the lot of our dreams right under our nose: 2 lots down from our condo at Costa Blanca. Getting clear title to the land in 2008, we located a builder and finalized plans in December, preparing to begin construction in early 2009. When our builder said the house would be done by December, we laughed! 'It's Mexico, you know, so what year?' But it all happened in 2009: good weather, with no hurricanes, and a crew that worked steadily as planned...and by December it was ready for a test rental over holidays, complete with tree! We lived in it for 3 months in early 2010 and got the kinks out, so it was in excellent shape for rentals starting in April 2010.
Our seven adult children and their families enjoy a wide range of activities: some are divers and find the reef incredible at Puerto Morelos; others snorkel, tour ruins at Tulum, Chichenitza and Coba, try out the jungle zip line just south of PM, or simply veg out in the hot tub and the loungers around the pool. In our early 80s, our chief enjoyment is walking the beach, having lunch or dinner at our favorite restaurants, playing with grandchildren and just relaxing. Puerto Morelos has a more laid-back environment than Cancun or Playa del Carmen, and is not the 'party scene'... which we truly enjoy.
The views of the ocean are incredible and visible from 3 of the 5 bedrooms. On the street side of the house, the mangrove and it's abundant bird life can be enjoyed from the 2nd floor front bedroom or the roof sunbathing terrace.
Since we have had grandchildren of all ages visiting us at Mango Sunrise, we have a portable crib, car seats, booster chair, etc. for guest use.
The vibrant gold colors we chose for the exterior stucco were carefully matched from a photo taken years ago of ...you guessed it...a mango sunrise! We wanted a cheerful but welcoming décor throughout the house and chose batik paintings by Mago, a local artist, for wall décor and custom stained glass by another local artist surrounding the front door...the panels of which were hand-carved by artists at Temezon in central Yucatan. One of our prize décor items is the concrete boat sculpture on the ocean-side of our pool, depicting a man and a woman making their way to shore, and purchased by our builder at the annual Easter market in Michoacán. We admire the great diversity of artistic talent in Mexico and tried to make our home reflect much of that without being overpowering.
This property is excellent and has a lot to offer. We had 2 families for a total of 10 people ages from 2-49. Never did we feel cramped. Everyone had their own living space. The pool, hot tub and beach are all at your fingertips. The children definitely used all of them. We did a snorkeling trip, Chichen Itza trip and XPLOR that Angie set up for us. All were great. Snorkeling was amazing, the kids loved XPLOR, Chichen Itza was a long day, but we still enjoyed it. We rented a vehicle to explore a little more on our own. We did cenotes and dolphin beach many times. We had some local mayans prepare a few meals for us and they are were perfect, something for everyone! The town square and grocery store are a short drive away.
Best couple vaction ever!!!! Four adult couples the accommodations were perfect and incredible!! Angie was the best host imaginable. What ever we needed she took care of. We had them prepare dinner for us upon arrival and it was the best. They stayed with us and hung out until we were settled in. The house was phenominal. The best equiped house we have ever stayed in. The owners were absolutely amazing to work with. There recommendations for restaurants were spot on. We rented bikes in town and
it the best decision for convenience and fun. The town was filled with the friendliest people everywhere we went When they say the " Mayberry of Mexico" they are not kidding at all. We could not have been more please with our trip. Top notch.
If you are looking for a place to spend a beach vacation with your kids and grandkids, Villa Mango Sunrise is fantastic! There is plenty of room, a perfect size pool right out the back overlooking the beach, and all the water and beach supplies you could want for playing in the water. The house is well furnished, especially the kitchen. The bedrooms and bathrooms are roomy and there is plenty of hot water. The owners made the rental process smooth and clear.
We were met by Angie and her sister Allie who were very helpful and ready to assist at any moment. They gave great tips on restaurants, activities, and information about the area. This really made the vacation go smoothly. Not only was there a local phone, but another phone for calling the U.S., and a cell phone to keep handy.
The location, right on the beach and walking distance to town via the beach, was also in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. We rented cars so we could easily get to town with babies. I rented a bike for $6 US dollars a day and enjoyed the 10 minute ride to town. We all took walks on the beach. Unfortunately there has been a seaweed issue, but the town is doing a good job clearing it away and we swam anyways.
Puerto Morelos is a wonderful, quiet town without all the touristy aspects of the larger resorts in the area. The restaurants are small, with great food, great prices and service. We all agreed that we would like to return to this great house and town
I organized a party of 8 to vacation to Villa Mango. I have rented many homes from VRBO/Airbnb in the past, and this was the best experience yet. The house was very nice! Lucy (the owner) was very helpful with the reservation/contract process. The bedrooms were comfortable and large. The house is literally on the beach. Unfortunately, mother nature decided to purge a ton on seaweed on the beaches, which made the beach unusable, and provided a not very pleasant smell. This is occurring all over the Caribbean and obviously not the owners fault. It is cyclical, so it should be going away soon. The house was very comfortable and well stocked. If you walk into to town, be sure to just walk along the beach and not use the road. We usually called a Taxi, as it was decent walk into town. The town is so quaint and charming. Definitely not the hustle and bustle of Cancun or Playa. We spent most of our time in the pool, which was fabulous. The best asset of this property were Angie and her sister Allie. They were so helpful and responded to my 1000 emails prior to our arrival. She was also so eager to provide me with all of the information I requested. They arranged airport transportation, organized a trip to Isla Mujeres (no seaweed there) so we could have a full beach day, organized a snorkeling trip that came right to the front of the house, and prepared a fabulous meal, with the help of a local mayan woman, for all of us. She was so warm and pleasant. The house provided a cell phone that has many numbers already programmed, including Angie's cell phone. We found this very helpful. Angie greeted us when we arrived and checked in on us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. She really made this vacation great! I highly recommend this property!
We just spent a week at Mango Sunrise and had a great time. The house was perfect for us and very well represented by the owners. I had several phone conversations with the owners and numerous emails - with many questions from me trying to assure all was in order. They were nice and responsive. Likewise, the house manager Angie was a joy to work with. It was very beneficial having Angie nearby as she provided a lot of info to us during our stay and was a great resource. My group included me, my wife, our 3 kids and 2 spouses (all in their 20s) and our 2 yr old granddaughter. We had more than enough room and really enjoyed the house, pool, rooftop, etc. The beach did have seaweed at the time we were there, but Mother Nature is to blame. I would (and likely will) recommend Mango Sunrise to friends etc. Thanks Mr and Mrs Farrar and Angie.
What a lovely place to spend a family vacation! Angie and Allei were absolutely fabulous and made our stay so relaxing by making sure we had everything we needed. We have stayed at other homes where there were people to help us, and they are by far the best at making sure we knew they were available without intruding on our vacation.
Jesus makes the best margaritas and we also enjoyed the food cooked by the local Maya woman. One of our family was celebrating their birthday and Angie made sure there was at least a cupcake with a candle for him to blow out!
The property is just as described and as shown in the pictures. Lucy and Charles have a beautiful home and have thought of everything a family would need to spend a week or more relaxing by the pool and the beach.
We would certainly stay again and highly recommend this home!
