The house is filled with art, reflecting our international travel interest, and is full of visual treats for everyone.
I built this house 20+ years ago. It was designed by an architect who favors the Northwest Style of light, airy, open to nature, but compact and simple in its execution. It is a joy to be in this space.
Beautiful park like setting, quiet and peaceful. Amazingly close to downtown and the favorite places in the Portland area. We constantly receive nice feedback about the ambiance and cleanliness.

I have been a social worker in Portland for 30+ years and have been managing the vacation rentals together with my daughter, Kris, who is a contractor. We love houses and are offering two choices in the Portland area now. My other passion is traveling which I have passed on to my daughter and grandchildren. This house reflects our international experiences and global focus. And it is filled with art providing a treat for everyone.
Carol McKinnon purchased this house in 1990
I built this house for myself 20+ years ago. It was designed by an architect who favors the Northwest Style of light, airy, open to nature, but compact and simple in it's execution. It is a joy to be in this space.
"Very much enjoyed the amenities, furnishings, and tasteful decor in your house nestled in the hills outside Portland. Our 30th wedding anniversary was very well served by a week in the tranquil atmosphere the house embodied. Set between Beaverton and Portland, the house is the perfect location for peace and quiet in the midst of everything Portland has to offer. We shared the house with one other couple for one weekend, and it had plenty of space for us all to spread out. We enjoyed the open floorplan, which made preparing meals a fun group event. Hot water, mood lighting, and lots of windows--would love to have a house like this for ourselves. Literally 10 minutes to downtown Portland (outside rush hour admittedly) and 5 minutes to the Hoyt Arboretum and Oregon Zoo. Close to Max light rail and all the shopping and restaurants of Beaverton. Ideal location. Again, thanks for letting us share your house. Mark and Elizabeth - Williamsburg Virginia"
Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable.
Beautiful home in a peaceful area that suited our needs perfectly. We would love to come back in the spring/summer and be able to use the outside area as well since we had an unusual amount of snow to deal with this weekend. Very comfortable areas, good size kitchen with all necessary appliances and utensils. A wonderful place to start and end our days, or to just relax and spend the whole day. Would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Portland.
This lovely home is full of delightful inspiring art and decor and features the most lovely views of moss covered trees and feels like you are living in a tree house. No detail is left undone and living in this beautiful home soothes whatever frazzled travel adventure you are having. We adored staying in this home.
We had a great time at the house. The house was only a few minutes drive to downtown portland and about 45 minutes to Multnomah Falls. Would highly recommend this house to anyone
Was here for the week for work and loved the home! close to where i needed to be and it was very nice to come back to such a nice place after being in a car all day. The only issue was the birch logs in the fireplace with a note that said "do not burn". I understand that they are decorative but i was unsure if all fires were not permitted. I love a good book by a better fire. Other than that weird issue, everything was golden.
Everything about this place echoed serenity. It was a very peaceful and restful experience staying in this little place. The feel was as if the house were on a country lane.
Ourselves and two other couples recently stayed at this property and it was perfect! Clean and well appointed, we loved how close to downtown it was yet you feel like you're at the cabin in the woods! The only thing I can see might be an issue for anyone with mobility issues is both bathrooms and all 3 bedrooms are downstairs. Also although a fireplace is listed as an amenity you need to get prior approval to use it. We were so busy it didn't matter to us but in case it's important that's the deal. All communication with Carol the owner was clear and prompt, couldn't ask for more! Anyway, Portland is a beautiful city and area, we will be back and this is the place we'd stay when we do!
