Nicely updated two bedroom, two bath single level Sandpiper condominium designed by famed mid-century architect William Krisel. Located on El Paseo in Palm Desert -- the "Rodeo Drive of the Desert" -- the unit has lovely mountain, pool, and palm tree views and is located on a dead-end street away from traffic and noise. Two private patios (one with gas barbecue) and the delightful entryway atrium combine with beautiful exterior landscaping for seamless indoor and outdoor living. A pleasing mixture of contemporary and quality vintage furniture is found throughout the unit.
In 2014, the unit's interior was completely repainted, carpet was replaced, and new window treatments installed. The bathrooms received new tile flooring, glass countertops, and tile showers, and new tile was installed in the kitchen and atrium, in 2015.
Sandpiper is an architecturally significant, low-density development in the mid-century style. Our unit, like most of the others, features high ceilings, celestory windows, and a comfortable, open floor plan. Each pool is shared by only 16 units and is surrounded by wide expanses of grass and lush landscaping (including mature grapefruit and lemon trees). Our particular pool area features a shady cabana, gas barbecue, putting green, shuffleboard area, and plenty of patio and pool furniture. The inviting pool is kept at a warm 85 degrees year round.
Directly across from the unit's private driveway are multiple retail establishments and restaurants, including Rite-Aid and Starbucks. Several grocery stores are nearby, and the famed, upscale El Paseo shopping and dining district is just a short walk away. Hiking trails, public tennis courts, Westfield's Palm Desert Mall, the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert, and Target are also within walking distance. Other attractions, including numerous golf courses, the Living Desert, the River shopping complex, McCallum Theater, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and Sunnylands estate are within 10 minutes drive.
The unit is easily accessible, with three unassigned parking spaces directly in front of the main entrance, and a reserved covered space in the nearby carport. A public bus stop is within walking distance on Highway 111.
Everything you need for a comfortable, enjoyable stay is available: plenty of linens, full laundry facilities, ample newer cookware and dishware, barbecue, cable television, free long distance phone throughout the U.S. and Canada, and wireless Internet access.
The City of Palm Desert's short-term rental ordinance applies to stays in this unit of less than 28 days (Permit No. 41150). Accordingly, for rentals to which the ordinance applies, nine percent tax will be added to the rental amount and the cleaning fee. Special rates may apply during certain peak periods.
We are a couple with three young children from Portland, Oregon. Our families have enjoyed coming to the Desert for many years. We love the relaxed, casual atmosphere, numerous attractions and activities, and great year-round weather that the area has to offer.
Sandpiper is the perfect Desert location. There is something for everyone within walking distance of our unit, and it's a short drive to just about anywhere in the Coachella Valley. Living in an architecturally significant development is another plus. Guests and owners alike, and especially families with small children like ours, enjoy Sandpiper's low density, wide open greenspaces, beautiful trees and landscaping, and sparkling pools.

My husband and I returned for the second time last week for a 3 night stay. The previous visit was in October. Both visits were wonderful and we cannot wait to go back. I only wish we could stay more nights. Just as the other reviews say the condo is very clean, bright, airy and comfortable. Ky & his wife thought of everything to make guests feel at home. We enjoy eating "in" for the most part and are amazed at how well stocked the kitchen is, the best we've seen. The beds are just right and the TV works easily. We walked to farmers market on Wednesday, it's very close in the chamber of commerce parking lot. Then we walked from there to the shops at El Paseo, that walk is a bit longer but enjoyable. It's hard to believe there is so much shopping/dining at your fingertips yet the condo seems almost isolated once you are there. The best of both worlds! On our first visit we had a couple questions that Ky addressed immediately. He was very professional, responsive, and pleasant. On our second visit thankfully we did not have to contact him and we felt like it was our second home. Thank you Ky!
Our family of four had the best time staying in this unit. The rooms are airy and bright, very cool decor - wouldn't have been surprised to see the same interior in a Mad Men episode. With two young children the pool and outside eating spaces were brilliant! Everything was so convenient to get to: the air museum, the Living Desert Museum, the College of the Desert street fair, and, of course, El Paseo just out the door. Added bonus, we were the only people using the pool each of the six days we were there. The owners were great to work with, very responsive and helpful. We plan to come back next year and highly recommend this condo.
We had a wonderful time in Palm Desert and loved staying in the Sandpiper Condo. Close to all the amenities of El Paseo, but still far away enough to avoid any traffic or noise from the city. The condo itself was spacious and comfortable. Pool and patio were great - we cooked all of our meals and ate outside nearly every meal.
This unit is really comfortable and well maintained. Nice upgrades each time we stay here and it has a very cool mid century vibe. It is close to Palm Springs and in the heart of Palm Desert. The owners really care that you have a nice stay and they are very responsive!
This is a wonderful Sandpiper. It is bright and sunny, with beautiful morning sunrises from the living room and dining room. Both these rooms have floor to ceiling glass windows and sliding glass doors. There is a private, gated entryway patio, 2 more patios off the bedrooms and a front garden area with a BBQ. It has beautiful views from every window, including the nearby mountains. There is a swimming pool, putting green and shuffleboard for just this circle of condominiums. The owners have recently painted, installed new bathrooms tiles, new carpeting and window coverings. It is walking distance to many restaurants, El Paseo shops and a large mall. The owners are great to work with and respond quickly to answer questions. We will be back again soon. Thank you for the very enjoyable vacation in your home!
Stayed here for a 4 day golf trip. Condo was clean and spacious, and was central to all of the courses we wanted to play. Condo complex had a pool just outside our unit which was great for an evening dip after a hot day of golfing.
