Lovely Mid-Century Sandpiper Condo on El Paseo

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths

Nicely updated two bedroom, two bath single level Sandpiper condominium designed by famed mid-century architect William Krisel. Located on El Paseo in Palm Desert -- the "Rodeo Drive of the Desert" -- the unit has lovely mountain, pool, and palm tree views and is located on a dead-end street away from traffic and noise. Two private patios (one with gas barbecue) and the delightful entryway atrium combine with beautiful exterior landscaping for seamless indoor and outdoor living. A pleasing mixture of contemporary and quality vintage furniture is found throughout the unit.

In 2014, the unit's interior was completely repainted, carpet was replaced, and new window treatments installed. The bathrooms received new tile flooring, glass countertops, and tile showers, and new tile was installed in the kitchen and atrium, in 2015.

Sandpiper is an architecturally significant, low-density development in the mid-century style. Our unit, like most of the others, features high ceilings, celestory windows, and a comfortable, open floor plan. Each pool is shared by only 16 units and is surrounded by wide expanses of grass and lush landscaping (including mature grapefruit and lemon trees). Our particular pool area features a shady cabana, gas barbecue, putting green, shuffleboard area, and plenty of patio and pool furniture. The inviting pool is kept at a warm 85 degrees year round.

Directly across from the unit's private driveway are multiple retail establishments and restaurants, including Rite-Aid and Starbucks. Several grocery stores are nearby, and the famed, upscale El Paseo shopping and dining district is just a short walk away. Hiking trails, public tennis courts, Westfield's Palm Desert Mall, the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert, and Target are also within walking distance. Other attractions, including numerous golf courses, the Living Desert, the River shopping complex, McCallum Theater, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and Sunnylands estate are within 10 minutes drive.

The unit is easily accessible, with three unassigned parking spaces directly in front of the main entrance, and a reserved covered space in the nearby carport. A public bus stop is within walking distance on Highway 111.

Everything you need for a comfortable, enjoyable stay is available: plenty of linens, full laundry facilities, ample newer cookware and dishware, barbecue, cable television, free long distance phone throughout the U.S. and Canada, and wireless Internet access.

The City of Palm Desert's short-term rental ordinance applies to stays in this unit of less than 28 days (Permit No. 41150). Accordingly, for rentals to which the ordinance applies, 11 percent tax will be added to the rental amount and the cleaning fee. Special rates may apply during certain peak periods. Guests will be provided with and must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the condominium association. Please also note In the warmer months, our thermostat is programmed to not allow a temperature less than 75 degrees.

About Ky Fullerton

We are a couple with three young children from Portland, Oregon. Our families have enjoyed coming to the Desert for many years. We love the relaxed, casual atmosphere, numerous attractions and activities, and great year-round weather that the area has to offer.

Why Ky Fullerton chose Palm Desert

Sandpiper is the perfect Desert location. There is something for everyone within walking distance of our unit, and it's a short drive to just about anywhere in the Coachella Valley. Living in an architecturally significant development is another plus. Guests and owners alike, and especially families with small children like ours, enjoy Sandpiper's low density, wide open greenspaces, beautiful trees and landscaping, and sparkling pools.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay at Sandpiper and we appreciated your updates. We think it's the nicest unit we've stayed in at Sandpiper. Let us know your plans for next year.

Thanks again.

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

In early October 2017, we spent a week at the Sandpiper condo in Palm Desert looking for a relaxing getaway. We found this unit to be an excellent place to stay, it was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The location was perfect to enjoy the amenities of the El Paseo shops and restaurants, as well as the surrounding area. We have been to Palm Desert many times over the last few years and found this unit to be the best accommodation for the price, we have found to date.

The mid-century design of the unit included rooms were that bright and sunny with original wall to wall sliding glass doors that brought the outside inside. The back patio allowed for easy access to the well-maintained shared pool and where we enjoyed beautiful early evening views of the palm trees, silhouetted against the darkening California sky.

The unit has been renovated but the cabinetry is somewhat dated, and we had difficulty, from time to time, with the dishwasher.

We had occasion to call Ky with a few questions and he responded quickly and was very helpful. We will definitely look at this unit when we travel to the area again, and we would heartily recommend this Sandpiper condo to any one who is looking for a relaxing holiday in Palm Desert.

Beautifully Relaxing Spot

  • 5 of 5

Just a most wonderful place to spend time. The unit is light, bright and furnished with everything you need to enjoy a peaceful holiday. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival. Ky communicates quickly and efficiently. Thank you so much. We will most certainly be back. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We have spent two years in a row at this condo and absolutely love spending time there. The unit is well appointed, very clean and bright, and very well suited to our needs. We have gotten to know the community within the complex and find everyone to be very friendly and warm. Ky is very responsive and accommodating throughout our stay. We highly recommend this lovely condo and can't wait to return there again next year.

Elegant mid-century condo

  • 5 of 5

This place had everything you could want - great location walking distance to restaurants and shops, and spacious , light filled, elegant accommodation. Kitchen is spacious, as are all the rooms. We appreciated the updates which were true to the style, simple and elegant. Very quiet when we were there, had the pool to ourselves much of the time.

Charming, comfortable and light

  • 5 of 5

Our family met in Palm Desert for our Thanksgiving celebration. I chose this space because of the classic architecture and beautiful blue door. I was drawn to this property because I too am a mid century classic! My Dad was an architect practicing in the 50's and 60's. He would have loved the simplicity and amazing use of glass in this condo. The layout of the space is flowing with a very usable kitchen, lovely dining and living room space and two good sized bedrooms. New tile in the bathrooms and lovely white carpet throughout really add to the comfort. The owners have paid attention to design details reflected in the authentic period furniture and decor. The patio facing the pool area is generous and private. Our experience was quiet and restful. We used the pool and played shuffleboard. The location is remarkably convenient, by walking or car to shopping and other amenities. Parking was easy. I would stay here again any time. What a treat!
