We had a perfect week on PI at Days Serene. We were very happy with the house, I will give an honest review because I think that informed owners and guests have the best experience!
LOCATION is great, walk to basin, river beach, and ocean beach. The neighborhood was lively on Friday & Saturday nights but quiet the rest of the week.
PETS allowed. Dogs can go to the basin beach and lounge on the porch. there is yard space on the side of the house where we tied our dogs out while we were home, so they could watch the goings on in the neighborhood. Unfortunately previous guests allowed their pups to poop there and did not clean it up - pigs. I did my best to clean it all up.
SPACE! So much space. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths plus outdoor shower, large open living/dining room, large porch, lots of parking.
COMFORT: Beds were great, comfy couch and chairs, family style dining area, cafe seating in the breakfast area, plenty of hot water, AC is fabulous.
AMENITIES: cable TV, wifi, beach chairs, awesome wagon to haul your stuff to the beach. Nice big fridge with cold water dispenser and an ice maker! Full size washer and dryer - don't be afraid to let your kids play in the basin muck at low tide!
HOSTS: Dick checked in through messaging & phone and offered to come by the house if we needed anything. I didn't bring king sized sheets, since I misread the description and thought that the master had a queen. Maureen came over to drop off a nice clean set of king sheets. Thanks so much!
I will list a couple minor 'cons' for those who might have particular hang-ups!
ANTS: Perhaps an unfortunate result of having an older cottage on ground level :( we hid our food in the microwave, fridge, and oven because anything on the counter or in cabinets had ants crawling on it.
KITCHEN: the kitchen had all the necessities, except for a dishwasher. so the small amount of counter space was cluttered with our dish rack. Any dishes we took out of the cabinet had to be re-washed before use - I would blame the previous guests not the hosts! We found some not-so-clean plates and silverware. The cabinets are kinda older, countertops not level due to the cottage settling. The oven is located on the other side - not the typical 'work triangle' but at least there is an oven! Who uses an oven in a beach cottage anyway? The kitchen was fine for us, but if you're looking for a gourmet work area you might not be thrilled.
Overall great stay, thanks!
We had such a great time staying at this wonderful house! The area is absolutely perfect and what a wonderful beaches. The sunsets are beautiful and picturesque. All of our needs were met and the owner and his wife are great people . You will enjoy your stay!!
Just returned from a fantastic week at Days Serene. This lovely cottage is located at the Northern tip of Plum Island with the water just a few steps away. The cottage was clean and well equipped to handle our family and visitors. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and dinner trips to Newburyport. (Agave, Michael's and Plum Island Grille to name a few). We biked the Island and Parker River Wild Life Refuge. Plum Island was just the relaxing vacation we craved.....a very special spot.
We are currently enjoying our stay at Days Serene. We sold our house and needed a place to stay through the Winter and found this cozy cottage. Water views from every room with the Basin on one side and Newburyport Harbor on the other. The cottage was large enough to accomodate our Thanksgiving celebration with the wrap around all window porch allowing plenty of room for people to sit, eat and move around. Our night time ritual is watching the spectacular sunsets over the city of Newburyport. Dick and Maureen are 10 minutes away and are gracious hosts and have been very responsive to our needs. We like to cook and found the kitchen well equipped with plenty of cookware and dishware. The beach is steps from the cottage and downtown Newburyport is 10 minutes away with plenty of shopping and restaurants.
Looking forward to the rest of our stay cozying up to the pot belly gas stove and watching the sunsets.
After selling the house quick we needed a place to kick back for the winter until we could find our next permanent residence. After talking with Dick we knew that this would be the place. We settled in for winter in Mid November and looked forward to enjoying PI. The winter of 2015 tested our souls but having such a comfortable warm abode to come home to after work was truly a delight. It is now mid April and I can't express how beautiful this location is in words. The sunsets are truly breathtaking. Access to the beach is literally steps from the front door. Our daughter has loved escaping college to relax with her beloved pets that have also enjoyed this property. The kitten has grown into a cat and has found every perch to view the birds. We have delighted in cooking in the efficient well equipped galley. Now that the snow has cleared we are grilling on the back porch most every evening. Don't hesitate give Dick a call he will hook you up with one of the best locations on the North Shore. He and Maureen will be there every step of the way to ensure your vacation is spot on. I dread the day our lease expires.
