Welcome to Casa de la Vista, a home offering spectacular views and memorable Mexican experiences.
You will be in the perfect place to see all the parades that will go right by the home. There will be parades for religious celebrations, important dates and even parades celebrating specific neighborhoods!.....all with the traditional Mexican pomp and flair. Then there are the firework displays! Absolutely spectacular and you'll have one of the best seats in town to enjoy them. It's hard to go very long in Mexico without something being celebrated. It is a delightful aspect of the culture and you'll be able to see it all from your own perch.
This is my own home when I'm in San Miguel. I am a decorator and have put my heart into decorating this home. It is filled with lots of Mexican art and decor, some of which I created. It is a truly very special place to be. I absolutely love my time here. I run to the window or terrace countless times just to see what parade with marching band is going by now! It leaves no question that I am in the real and authentic Mexico
Talking about location, it is wonderful being so close to the jardin/town square. It's just an 8 minute downhill walk. The location is super convenient; taxis go right by the house every few minutes so it's very easy to go anywhere you want to go. Then there's the bus that stops right across the street. Take it up the hill to the shopping center with a fabulous supermarket and cineplexes showing the latest movies.

A Comment from one of our guests:
“This house was a very comfortable place to stay. My family and I were there for 1 month and were very glad for the conveniences like purified water, a dishwasher, and washing machines in the house. The house is very new and modern with plenty of space for the 4 of us. After visiting some other homes in the area I felt even more pleased with our choice of rentals. From the balcony we had an amazing view that we were able to share with friends for drinks and an evening meal. We were able to sit in our chairs and see most of the downtown area while the sun set behind them. This balcony is also right off the master bedroom, which made for 31 glorious mornings where I woke up and pulled the curtains back to be welcomed by the view of beautiful San Miguel. The walk to the Jardin is short and we rarely used the taxis to get anywhere in town unless we were shopping and just didn’t want to carry things. There is a small hill getting to the house from the Jardin but it’s short and didn’t really cause us any problems. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone heading to San Miguel. For us, the modern conveniences made our stay much more pleasant. And the view was truly beautiful.”
I have always loved to fix and design. When I began my real estate career at 24, I soon realized that the best part of the job was meeting with architects and interior designers and watching as the more artistic elements of construction fell into place. After 13 years in real estate, I built two homes, vacation rentals on magical Orcas Island in Washington State. Then I undertook a major remodel of a cabin on the water. Something clicked during that process of transforming the cabin into a unique work of art; I knew I had found my purpose in life.
Through the next several years, I transformed some 30 rather decrepit homes into fresh, beautiful residences, working tirelessly at the rate of two or three a year. Then I decided to turn my creative attention to designing and constructing very special vacation accommodations. I moved to Mexico, the land of color and craft, and began working there.
The most exciting phase of building a new place is when everything gets pulled together. I love the details, making sure that one thing plays with another in perfect harmony. During the process, I'm absolutely consumed. Each project takes every ounce of my imaginative life -- and I love it.
I enjoy being able to see the possibilities in a wreck of a dwelling. When I first set eyes on a place in need of a make-over, I see what it could be. I can envision how the finished place will look...and that vision guides me.
I work an average of six to eight months on each project, directing a local architect and construction team, supervising every step along the way to make certain my vision is embodied in bricks and mortar, paint and plaster.
Be my guest at one of four different and individually unique accommodations in San Miguel de Allende.

San Miguel is a beautiful old colonial town. The importance of the arts scene is very alluring. I chose this particular house because it's in centro and just a short downhill walk to the Jardin (main town square) and also for it's panoramic view that's seen from two floors.
I loved watching all the pageantry and parades that passed right in front of the house. The vantage point for watching firework displays was the best in town. It's like I had gotten the best view seat money could buy.
My wife and I stayed for about a week with another couple at Casa de la Vista. Gorgeously decorated place! And the location was terrific - just a short walk from the center of town. We were struck by all the modern conveniences provided. A fully stocked kitchen -dishwasher, a large refrigerator, pots, pans, dishes – made cooking as easy as if we were home. Our bedroom, on the third floor, had a terrific terrace, with a view to die for. Our bed was very comfortable, and the en suite bath spacious, with plenty of space to store our stuff. The first level bath included a washer and dryer, which were put to good use. The home’s security system made us feel extremely safe, and the maid service kept the place very clean.
We didn’t happen to use most of the amenities available, but we did take advantage of the transportation offered to and from the airport at León. Arrangements were made to pick us up at the airport, and despite the typical delays of modern day air travel, as soon as we picked up our luggage, the driver was there, ready to chauffer us to SMA. Our return flight was early, but our driver was there, at 4:30 am no less, to take us back to León.
In summary, I highly recommend staying at Casa de la Vista. Five stars!
Our party of 5 very much enjoyed staying in your lovely home for 8 days in April, 2015. The kitchen was much enjoyed and we found the full-sized W/D very useful! The view from the rooftop terrace was gorgeous...it was definitely a favorite part of the house.
We had a car but t remained parked most of our trip. The bus that stops right outside the door was also helpful in getting home after a day of shopping. We will definitely be back!
Stayed for a week in November 2014 and it was a pleasant stay! We were five people in my family and everyone was comfortable and everything was easy for meals and occasional laundry etc...must be in good shape to go up and down stairs especially if in master bedroom and rental property is located up higher on the hill and actually right near the famous lookout so going down to the main square by foot is fine but usually needed to take either the bus or taxi back up the hill when going back home especially for my retired parents but we all absolutely loved staying here!
We were fortunate to stay here for 4 lovely months, May through August. The house is exactly as described - clean, up to date, well maintained. I appreciate finding a pet friendly rental in such a great location. We did not have a car.
Communication - superb communication between both the owner and the management company when the occasional issue arose. Lynn responded immediately to our questions. The management company responded immediately to check out concerns - which were usually minor.
Location - spectacular view of the Parroquia, the city, and the lake from the third floor. Easy walk to the Jardin downhill. If walking uphill is too much, bus routes 7, 8, 9 stop right across the street. Taxis are readily available if buses are not.
Noise - the house is very soundproofed, the neighbors are quiet and friendly. You can hear the buses until about 9:30 at night but then the street is surprisingly quiet. This is Mexico - you will hear church bells, fireworks, and the occasional happy person in the middle of the night. We found it charming.
Overall design - Lynn has made maximum usage of the available space and put a lot of thought into arranging and decorating.
Housekeeping - regular, prompt, and considerate. Azucena is a jewel.
Activities - are everywhere you look! The best approach is to get out and walk. Pick up the local paper, Atencion and use the insert, Que Pasa for activities. Talk to others in the Jardin or restaurants. We especially enjoyed La Parroquia, Mare Nostrum, Los Milagros, Hecho in Mexico and Lolita's. For nightlife both Mi Casa/Gil Gutierrez and La Noche were our favorites.
We absolutely recommend this property - enjoy!
Beds - comfortable queen size beds. We had guests who also said the beds were amazing.
Purified water - you can drink the tap water safely, not always available here in SMA.
The only negatives to be aware of - laundry is on the first floor, master is on the third. For longer stays, be aware that you will carry laundry upstairs afterwards. The master bathroom only has one sink so a couple should be prepared to share space. Finally, when two couples stay here, the terrace is outside the master. So guests have to wait until it's convenient. These are extremely minor and also mentioned in the description.
While we stayed here, we met several other couples who had also stayed in this location. Everyone had a positive experience.
We recently spent three weeks at Casa de la Vista. We especially enjoyed the view from the upper terrace and walking a short distance up the hill for the view from the Mirador. Accommodations were comfortable and management company very responsive to any issues. There were plenty of fireplaces for the very few days it was chilly. Bus service was easily available directly across street, if needed, however, it was less than 15 minute walk to Jardin. Lots of steps in the three story home, so would not recommend for anyone with disabilities. On the other hand, climbing steps several times daily was great exercise!
The house was very well equipped and beautifully appointed.
It was an easy walk to centro and a less easy walk back because if the hill, but very do- able.
The roof deck had an amazing sunset view over the city.
I would definitely return.
