Peaceful Vacation

My family stayed at the Sea Loft at the end of June. After hours of researching vacation spots and vacation homes, we decided on the Sea Loft in the Sea Pines area. We were looking for peace and quiet and we found that at the Sea Loft. The home itself is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The views from the back deck are absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed watching the sunsets and the boats go by on the sound. Although the home is quiet, it is also in walking or biking distance to where the excitement is. We enjoyed biking to the shops and to the restaurants. The house was clean and provided everything that we could have needed for our stay. My fifteen year old daughter and her friend fell in love with the house and the wildlife that came to visit. We saw a family of raccoons, lizards, hermit crabs, and the most beautiful birds. We packed binoculars to see the dolphins swimming on the sound too! During our stay we visited the beach, went kayaking, took a boat ride, and biked all over Sea Pines. I could not have asked for a more peaceful vacation. The homeowner Loren was very easy to work with. She answered all of our questions quickly and provided all the information we needed to have a very enjoyable stay. I have already recommended this property to my family and friends. Thank you Loren for providing a fabulous vacation home. My family is looking forward to coming back to Hilton Head and staying at the Sea Loft again. Great property!

Wonderful property

House is well decorated and CLEAN! View was beautiful. Location is great - easy walk to Harbor Town, quick bike ride to beach/golf/tennis. Highly recommend.

Fabulous Location, but

If you want a fabulous location with a gorgeous view of the bay and its sunsets with opportunities to view dolphins and water birds, this is the place for you. If you want a short, pleasant walk to Harbor Town, this is the place for you. If you want easy access to all the other places that Hilton Head has to offer, this is the place for you. The owner, Loren, is very accommodating and will respond quickly to issues that arise. But, the place is not well maintained and the cleaning can be improved as cobwebs were found in many areas of the house. Loren offered to have the cleaning redone, but we decided to let it go because we just wanted her to be aware of the condition. We also discovered that the ice maker did not work. Loren said that there should be ice cube trays and a bucket available but we never found them. The microwave is placed inside a cabinet above the refrigerator and my wife, who is 5 foot, 2 inches tall, was unable to use it without my assistance. On the third morning of our stay we had no hot water. Checking the hot water heater, I found that it was obviously not well maintained and by the looks of it, it should have been replaced some time ago. Loren did give us a refund for the cost of a one-day rental for the inconvenience. However, because we were not able to take showers, our plans for our last day on the island, on our 31st wedding anniversary, were ruined. We packed up and left for home. The lack of general maintenance ruined our anniversary trip. Hopefully, maintenance will be improved so future renters are not disappointed.

Owner's Response: First, let me say that I always welcome feedback from my renters! Even constructive criticism as that leads to improvement. I am so sorry that this renter was disappointed. That saddens me! I strive to maintain the SeaLoft at a high quality level, which you will find other reviews reflect. We are often doing maintenance both inside & outside the SeaLoft. I have a high standard for my homes. As far as cobwebs, the SeaLoft is cleaned after every rental, by a professional crew who has worked for us for over a decade. But I am sure that spiders could come in & build webs after they have left. I also have a monthly pest control in the SeaLoft. But when it rains, bugs, like us, like to be indoors. I would also like to add to this thought, that if bugs like roaches bother you, I would suggest not vacationing anywhere in the southern United States. As they do exist, and will especially be bad after a rain. It's just, as they say, the 'nature of the beast'. We obviously hope you don't encounter them, that's why we have 'pest control' services. If you do, sadly that is something out of my control. I had just replaced the ice trays & bucket sets with 2 very nice ones from Bed,Bath & Beyond. But, some renters have no respect for other's property, & sometimes 'things walk away' after rentals. But when I found out they were missing, they were replaced once again. I have even had a very sentimental sterling silver antique clock disappear, among other things! But I certainly don't want my renters going without ice, or anything else that they may need during their stay at the SeaLoft! Due to a small kitchen there is not room for the microwave on the kitchen counter. I myself am 5' 1" tall, but there is a nice step stool in the laundry room for those that can not reach it. As far as the hot water, that was surely unfortunate timing. It had been replaced just a few years earlier so I never suspected it had gone bad that quickly. The salt air & water is very harsh on lots of items! But when I found out it had gotten to the hot water heater, it was replaced within just a few hours, even though it was extremely expensive to do so on such short notice on a holiday weekend. But I was more than happy to, as my renters are my utmost priority. So whatever it takes 'to make it right', that's what I will always do! Again, always happy to get feedback from my renters, as it is a great way to strive to make their experiences the best that I can...so thank you! Loren

Great location

My wife an I enjoyed the Sea Loft. For the two of us it was very comfortable, close to the things we wanted to see, great for bicycle riding, and a wonderful view. Rental agreement is lengthy, but thorough. Only drawback was the need to provide copies of a credit card plus drivers license. Of all the VRBO's we've rented, this is the first time we've had to do that. What questions we had were answered quickly by the owner. The home is walkable to Harbor Town and accessible to most beaches. We really enjoyed our time there.

A Place of Peace

This was a return visit and didn't disappoint. We so enjoyed sitting on the deck, or looking through the windows, and marveling at the pelicans, storks, heron, and even a pair of deer who were eating leaves right next to our deck. My wife discovered she could still ride a bike after all the years of recovering from joint replacements. We marveled at the sight of the marsh at high tide. And oh the peace and quite ! I didn't find the instructions for operating the TV/Cable until we were getting ready to leave. They should have been kept by the TV. Oh well, as they say, "old computer engineers never die, they just keep plugging away." So I got the TV going and "enjoyed" the NCAA tournament.
