Relax in your own private, waterfront home. The Guntersville Getaway is nestled in a small cove on scenic Lake Guntersville, which has 949 miles of winding shoreline.
There is a lot to do without even leaving the property. Relax on the large patio of this 1600 square foot waterfront home. Watch the sunset and grill out. Swing in the over sized hammock and take a nap. Watch the wildlife, which may include a Bald Eagle, Osprey or the endangered Whooping Crane. Great Blue Herons and Turtles are almost daily visitors. The turtles and ducks like to sun on the log next to the pier on sunny days.
Field and Stream Magazine voted Guntersville one of the top 10 fishing towns in the country. It is well known for it's Bass fishing and National tournaments. Guests often catch fish right off the bank or pier. The kids will love catching Blue Gills, Catfish or Bream.
Fun in the Sun for Everyone: The Guntersville Getaway Waterfront home is easy to find, just three tenths of a mile from Highway 431. It is located on Buck Island Shores near Gunter's Landing, across from the Guntersville Yacht Club. It offers a fun and inviting place to bring the whole family or it can be a romantic retreat for two. Children are welcome. We have children's books and DVD's. Create memories with your family that will last a lifetime. We have movies and books for grown ups as well.
Your private pier offers deep water year round. Summer and Spring bring boating, swimming, fishing, skiing, or just sunning. If you have had too much sun, shop till you drop in Guntersville for antiques and bargains. Or zip over to the Factory Outlet Stores in nearby Boaz and Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro.
First Class Golf and Family Attractions: It is centrally located to four first class Golf Courses: Gunters Landing, Cherokee Ridge, Robert Trent Jones/Hampton Cove and Goose Pond.
Your whole family can discover Cathedral Caverns, which has the largest cave opening in a public cave in the U.S. It is only 15 minutes away.
Spend a day exploring the Space and Rocket Center and Space Camp, in Huntsville, which attracts visitors from all over the world. Huntsville is less than an hour away.
In the fall and winter curl up next to the fire with a good book from our collection of hard backed books. Take a drive or a boat ride and treat yourselves to the explosion of fall colors.
What's new?. We have a beautiful new flagstone patio and walkway leading to the dock. We have installed new outdoor solar lights, a new lawn, landscaping, and driveway. There is a charming new green metal roof and new tile floor throughout every room in the house!
My parents, built this home in 1958. My father helped design the house with it's open living and dining area floor plan. I have kept some of the retro look by leaving an original dial telephone, but it has also been updated with granite counter-tops and wireless internet throughout the house. We are constantly improving the house. In 2012 we put matching ceramic tile throughout the whole house and got new bunk beds that have stairs to the top bunk, not a ladder,
I live just 3 miles away, also in Guntersville. My husband and I have lived here for 23 years. He is the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Albertville. We are still keeping it in the family. My son Nicholas manages the property for me.
Nicholas or Lyndall Hamlett purchased this house in 1958
It is a jewel of lake front property, because it is not steep and keeps deep water year round. We have kept all the trees, which provides a lot of shade. It is in a cove which protects it. My favorite part about the house is the windows. In almost every room of the house you can look at the serene lake.
The retro look has been blended with modern convenience. For example there are modern granite counter tops and antique dressers.
There were 4 adults and 1 teenager. The house was perfect for us! Great, LEVEL lot, with plenty of shade trees. Caught fish off of the dock and had a nice boathouse to keep my boat in. Guntersville Getaway is an easy drive to antique stores, grocery stores, outlet stores and tackle stores. We'll definitely be going back. AC works great!!
We recommend to any guest(s) to NOT use Boat Mart on Hwy 69 for any boat rental purposes. Ask Nicholas for any boat/waverunner rental information.
Our family spent a week at Guntersville Getaway relaxing, seeing beautiful Alabama, and visiting with family. The owners were extremely friendly and booking was easy. The house was located in a easy to get to location with a lovely view of the lake and wild life. It was the perfect jumping off place for fishing and boating, or visiting locations such as shopping in Guntersville, The Cathedral Cave and Guntersville State Park. It was an easy drive to the Space and Rocket Center. The house was very clean and well-maintained. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the yard, great for playing family games in the evening. I would recommend this house to anyone seeking a relaxing getaway!
Three couples came for a wonderful time away from the stress of the world and sickness and we were blessed with a great home!! Nicholas and Lynn were great host and did everything they could to make our little vacation an experience to remember. They recommended a great restaurant, The Rock and we had already discovered another one, Top of the River. As promised, we caught a lot of fish on the pier and had a fish fry one night. The pictures of the home are perfect and the kitchen is the most stocked one of a vacation home I've ever seen. I give this home a 5 star rating or more. We hope to return in the spring.
We absolutely loved staying in this house. It was a family gathering for the week. The owners were great to work with. The home has been in their family for many years. We will be back. I wish I could bottle up the atmosphere and open it whenever I needed it. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and the dock was perfect. Morning coffee on the patio and sunsets on the dock or boat, just wonderful.
We had such a great time at Guntersville Getaway. Everything was perfect. The house had everything that we needed and more. It is in a great location with grocery stores, restaurants, and coffee easily accessible. We will definitely be back soon!
Excellent lakefront property with good water and pier. We spent a very relaxed and enjoyable week with friends and family. Great location near a beautiful and challenging golf course, and easily accessible for visitors. The property was clean and well maintained with a well stocked kitchen. The owners were very responsive to any needs and were friendly and accommodating. This is a property we will use again. We love the Guntersville area.
