Overview

About the property

3 bdrms, 1 bath, sleeps 8, living rm w/ gas fireplace, ding rm, full kit, porch

Enter the front door and you're in your home away from home. It's spacious but comforting.

Bedrooms are decked out with comfy linens. Back porch looks at the garden. Eat in the kitchen or the dining room. On chilly evenings have a fire with the click of a switch.

Jamaica Plain (JP) is a neighborhood within the city of Boston. The house has easy access to the T (our public transit system) — a 15 minute ride to downtown. JP has the feel of a small town but it's definitely part of Boston's urban life. The house is just one block from Jamaica Pond (a 1.5 miles loop around the pond) which is great for walking or running in all seasons — biking, picnics or renting a sailboat in the warmer months.

Just 2 streets away is a new Whole Foods Market. Walk less than 10 minutes and you're in JP center with an array of ethnic restaurants, cafes, pubs and retail stores. This home is a great space in a great neighborhood in a great city - all set up for a great vacation

Great home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elaine’s home in Jamaica Plains. The House was clean, cozy, and walking distance from some great restaurants. Jamaica pond is right around the corner and was a beautiful place for a morning run. Elaine was extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend this home and if we go back to Boston, this would be the first place I would pick to stay.

Owner's Response: It's so good to see that these guests enjoyed their stay in this house, of course. But I love that they enjoyed the neighborhood as well as their adventures around the city.

Great place for a family

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 35 Moraine! Elaine was a great hostess - she had the house ready for an early check-in and was there any time we needed anything. Great central location, near downtown Boston but a great hub for our daytrips to Salem, Martha's Vineyard and Maine. Quiet, safe neighborhood. Would definitely recommend for families.

Owner's Response: It is wonderful that this family took advantage of the location to visit so much of the area around Boston as well as much of the city itself. Great family ! And I think they had a great time.

Great neighborhood - spacious and lovely apartment

  • 5 of 5

Elaine has been a wonderful host!!! Thank you for everything! We loved it to explore Boston from here. The apartement was spacious, clean and well equipped. We liked the porches in front of the house and the back garden, the cosy and comfortable beds, the kitchen and the fireplace in the living room. Jamaica Plain is such a nice neighborhood - a real discovery that completed our view and picture of Boston. It was a great pleasure to walk around. Grocery Stores, restaurants and T are not far. Recommendable!!

Wonderful home for my family's long weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Elaine was a gracious hostess. Her home was clean and very well equipped with everything we needed for a nice stay. It was furnished very nicely, also. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of space to move around. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to explore the Boston area, and doesn't want to stay in the city of Boston.

Owner's Response: There's a great peacefulness to Jamaica Plain - the pond is only 2 streets away. It's a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of downtown. And yet we're still very proud to be part of the city of Boston.

Lots of space, lovely towels and bedding. Everything you could possibly need!

  • 5 of 5

It's in a cool neighborhood, great bar/restaurant up on the corner with great menu. Great local coffee shop on the way to the T. The apartment is quiet and the garden is an oasis for the children and adults. There's lots of space and the whole space has a lovely feel to it. Would definitely recommend.

Charming house, comfy, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the space (including lovely garden) and comfy beds in this charming old house. It was great to have some pantry items to help with cooking full meals. Parking was easy on the street anytime and the T close by as well. Being so near to Jamaica Pond and all the local restaurants was great. WiFi strength was variable, but fine for our purposes.

Thanks Elaine!

Car: not necessary

Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood within the city of Boston that provides a small town feel within the urban lifestyle. JP, as locals call it, is just minutes from downtown Boston by public transportation. It's a unique community, almost completely surrounded by parks, including the Emerald Necklace (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted of Central Park fame) the Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park Zoo and a protected Urban Wild area. The center of JP offers abundant amenities including restaurants — ranging from take out to 4 Star — in an array of ethnic options. A great place for families, couples and singles.

Let's not forget this is New England. Pleasant car rides in almost any direction take you to the picturesque small towns you've seen on postcards. Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Vermont are each within an hour's drive. In fact, you can drive to Montreal in about 6 hours . . . and New York City in about 4.

Good spot for a great visit.
