About the property

3 bdrms, 1 bath, sleeps 8, living rm w/ gas fireplace, ding rm, full kit, porch

Enter the front door and you're in your home away from home. It's spacious but comforting.

Bedrooms are decked out with comfy linens. Back porch looks at the garden. Eat in the kitchen or the dining room. On chilly evenings have a fire with the click of a switch.

Jamaica Plain (JP) is a neighborhood within the city of Boston. The house has easy access to the T (our public transit system) — a 15 minute ride to downtown. JP has the feel of a small town but it's definitely part of Boston's urban life. The house is just one block from Jamaica Pond (a 1.5 miles loop around the pond) which is great for walking or running in all seasons — biking, picnics or renting a sailboat in the warmer months.

Just 2 streets away is a new Whole Foods Market. Walk less than 10 minutes and you're in JP center with an array of ethnic restaurants, cafes, pubs and retail stores. This home is a great space in a great neighborhood in a great city - all set up for a great vacation

Home away from home! We will definitely be back!

  • 5 of 5

What a fabulous home! Very homey and comfortable with plenty of room. The owner, Elaine was friendly and helpful during our short stay. The neighborhood is quaint and very 'New Englandy' with lots to offer by way of restaurants, nature and a Whole Foods grocery store close by. Elaine has a large collection of brochures for us to plan our days exploring Boston. We primarily used the T (subway) to get to and from downtown Boston, which is a short walk from the house. Elaine was helpful in sending information ahead of time regarding public transportation and different ways of getting around. We absolutely loved our weekend in Elaines home and look forward to our next opportunity to visit.

Perfect spot in JP!

  • 5 of 5

We had several friends in town and instead of staying at several hotels we all stayed in this awesome home. The location is convenient to get to and close to good restaurants and bars. The owner was extremely accommodating and made the stay even better. I only wish the weather was better in Boston while we stayed so that we could have taken advantage of the backyard. All in all, I would recommend staying here to pretty much everyone.

Great place to stay in great neighborhood! Love the Robinwood Cafe & Grille on Centre St.

Parking was wayyy easier than we thought. Cozy, clean and spacious home. The homeowner was very prompt with answering all our questions and concerns. Definitely check this one out!

Awesome Boston Experience

  • 5 of 5

My family of four adults and two teenagers spent four days in Boston visiting sites and attending sporting events. I have rented units many times over the past several years and this was by far the best experience. Elaine is an awesome host and went out of her way to meet our needs. The three bedroom set up was perfect for our family and there was plenty of space for us to relax after long adventurous days. The property is perfect and within walking distance to public transportation. Plenty of eateries and shops a short distance from the front steps. I would highly recommend this property and owner. If we return to Boston, in the future, this will be the first place I contact to make arrangements for our accomadations.

Beautiful old home in quaint neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

I could not have asked for a better vacation in Boston. Elaine was an amazing host, especially since we were needy and a little rowdy. She is very quick to answer any emails or texts and is helpful in every way...even giving us a recommendation for a babysitter!! The house is exactly what you'd expect of an old house...creaky floors, claw foot tubs, and character...but with huge closets and clean and modern decor. Elaine gave us access to most of the house including the entire front porch, back porch, landscaped yard, and basement with a washer and dryer. There was everything we needed to cook meals and bake like a mixer, toaster, blender, and coffee maker...even spices, sugar, flour, pasta, etc. We had more than enough towels, blankets, and paper products for all 8 people. The neighborhood was perfect for us with grocery stores and hip restaurants a few blocks away, the T within walking distance, and parks and a pond to go running in. We came specifically for Halloween in Salem and when we returned Halloween evening, we discovered Jamaica Plains is so fun to trick or treat in. It felt very safe since kids and parents were everywhere and Elaine dressed up and tossed candy from her upstairs balcony much to the delight of my 4 year old. We had such a good time I don't think I would ever stay anywhere else if we came back to Boston. Thanks so much Elaine!!

Owner's Response: Woo hoo!!! Another happy family. But something tells me they're very good at making their own fun! I'm glad they were all comfortable here and had a great Halloween!

Made our vacation all the more memorable!

  • 5 of 5

Really can't say enough about both the property and proprietor! both surpassed all expectations. We were a little uncertain about the whole P2P rental process but Elaine was phenomenal from the first email to our arrival and beyond. My family couldn't have had a more relaxing and enjoyable experience as Elaine went out of her way to anticipate and accommodate every need. Great house, great location, great owner, will definitely rent again!

Car: not necessary

Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood within the city of Boston that provides a small town feel within the urban lifestyle. JP, as locals call it, is just minutes from downtown Boston by public transportation. It's a unique community, almost completely surrounded by parks, including the Emerald Necklace (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted of Central Park fame) the Arnold Arboretum, Franklin Park Zoo and a protected Urban Wild area. The center of JP offers abundant amenities including restaurants — ranging from take out to 4 Star — in an array of ethnic options. A great place for families, couples and singles.

Let's not forget this is New England. Pleasant car rides in almost any direction take you to the picturesque small towns you've seen on postcards. Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Vermont are each within an hour's drive. In fact, you can drive to Montreal in about 6 hours . . . and New York City in about 4.

Good spot for a great visit.
