It was in need of more updates.

  • 2 of 5

The property kitchen area was updated and nicely done. The entire deck area outside needs to be redone - boards were soggy and damaged from the storm last year. The AC could not get the house below 78 degrees on any day, and we had to run box fans to circulate the air. Bathroom were in need of repair, showers were aged and low flow, and the place needs to painted. For the price that we paid for the week, it was not comparable to other homes in the area. I saw others in the area where my family was staying, and they were much nicer. A disappointing experience.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your review. The owners have put a lot of money into remodeling the kitchen, all new hardwoods throughout the downstairs and new paint as well. Time ran out this past winter so the new pool deck and remodeled baths are coming this coming winter. As for the AC we had to replace the entire unit and is now working as it should. We really do hate to hear of anyone with a bad experience and we invite you to come back next year for a 20% discount on any stay and experience the all new and improved property.

Great family vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here in May and we would highly recommend this rental home. The location to the beach was great with just a short walk without having to cross any streets. The pool was very nice. The beds were very comfortable. A great place!

Great proximity and good updates

  • 3 of 5

Overall the stay was fine. I wish that the description was better regarding the spiral staircase that led to the loft area. I had a company deliver a crib prior to us getting there and told them that my three year old and 4 month old would be staying in that room and had no idea that there was only one way to get there and it was the spiral staircase. The mattresses were absolutely horrible in all the rooms. Completely lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were outdated and noticed that some of the toilets were old and would run or be slower. The deck to the pool needs to be completely ripped out and redone. It was old and rotting and there were some loose boards. The doors going out to the patio were extremely difficult to open. You basically had to use all your strength to get the sliding door open to the patio. The neighbors did not like the private path that was created to cut to the beach boardwalk so we would take the longer route along the road and down the boardwalk.

The new upgrades to the kitchen were nice and the floors were great. I wish there was more seating in the living room but the long kitchen table was great and the patio furniture was good was well. The house itself is on a great street and was very quiet but I'm not sure if I would rent again unless some additional upgrades were made.

Owner's Response: Mrs. Gayle - we are sorry to hear of your dismay with the property. It certainly is not our intention to "hide" that there is a spiral staircase to the bedroom and we will adjust our marketing to notate that. As for the mattresses they are all brand new as of 2016. The owner has taken great steps this past winter to infuse over $80k in renovations in the home with the new kitchen, floors and painting. Their plans were to replace the deck and the bathrooms as well but we ran out of time to do so. So in the fall/winter of '17 they will be completed but overall they are not in bad condition at all. Our pictures depict the property as it is and I am sorry they did not meet your expectations. As for the path to the beach that is a deeded easement for this property. Every 3rd or 4th row home in Palmetto Dunes as this and NO neighbor should have any issue about the use of this access to the beach. We have never received any complaint about the use of this path and if we ever do we will address it immediately. I wish you would have spoken to us about it while you were here. I appreciate your time in communicating your concerns and hope that you reconsider for the future.

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here recently and had a great time! The location cannot be beat! Your located within a 100yds or so to the beach with a private paved walkway to access it. Everyone one that we came in contact with were extremely friendly, my wife and I ran in the mornings and were greeted by everyone with a smile and a hello. Anytime we had to leave the plantation we were very close to local shops and restaurants so it made it nice to explore the area do some shopping and get a bite to eat. My kids could not get enough of the pool, the water was crystal clear and the pool cleaner stopped by to treat the water and informed us it was OK to continue swimming. Also mid week the the owners of the property called to make sure we were having a good time and if we needed anything. Unfortunately someone in our party who was just visiting decided to leave some very disappointing comments (see previous review) which were the opposite of the rest of our parties opinion. The house is a bit outdated yes, and a few things may need addressed but don't let this steer you away from staying here, you will enjoy yourself!!!!

My in laws are currently staying at your property, and when we arrived on Saturday we were expecting a well kept CLEAN house. The floors were extremely dirty, the upholstery is stained, the windows are a mess and all the cups, plates and silverware were so stained and filthy we resorted to paper and plastic. I live here, so I know that cockroaches are very common, BUT, we have killed several, and I know that if you find dead ones that means the house has been treated, obviously it hasn't. We stayed Saturday night, and our mattress was so lumpy and worn out it made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. Fortunately, my husband and I have the option of going to our own home, THEY DO NOT. The one bathroom has 2 doors and the one does not lock so we had to put a suitcase behind it so no one would barge in on someone, and when you turn the fan on in the same bathroom it's like a blast furnace! When you want to take a cool shower and cool off you are sweating so bad it is impossible to get ready. There are deck boards that need replaced and nail heads that are popping up, dangerous for toddlers.

Owner's Response: We were completely blind sided by this review! Why? Because we are VERY involved in our properties and we take any criticism seriously, however, we had not heard one thing from the renters of this home all week (mind you this was a guest of theirs and not the actual people paying for the reservation). And we give our clients numerous opportunities to reach out to us if they find ANY issues with any of the properties that we manage. We send them a Welcome Email, we text them when the property is ready for them to check in and we send them another notice the day after arrival asking if they have found everything to be in order and to their liking. At no time did we hear from anyone. So I called the actual renters of the home today to see about this and they were clueless as to any review being submitted or any major issues. They did admit a few plates and utensils were dirty and simply ran them in the dishwasher and that she swept up one of the bathroom floors. But other than that the home was wonderful and she had no complaints at all and that is why they never reached out to us on any of this. As for the bedding, the owner just spent about $10,000 installing all new mattresses in this home with not a single complaint on them. The bathroom fan was being turned on to heat the bathroom, it does have a regular exhaust but this person obviously could not figure that out. The door not locking? You have to push the handle in and turn it - it works. The deck? They just had $1500 worth of work done to it and it is actually being completely replaced this winter. The bugs - the property is sprayed every single month. Bottom Line.. this review does not sit well with us and feel that it was placed for some other intent of which we do not fully understand. All of our guest have direct contact with us and anyone who has ever stayed with our company knows that we are extremely responsive and make any issues a guest may have right immediately. I only wish we would have been given the opportunity in this case and not thrown under the bus by someone who had nothing to do with the reservation in the first place. By the way, the owner has committed to continue to reinvest in this property and is installing all new hardwood floors, the deck and many other upgrades this winter. They take great pride in this home and it shows.

A Wonderful Place to Relax and Reconnect with Family

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for a wonderful week in March. The weather could not have been better, with balmy days and mild nights. The beach truly is only a short walk down a path and, as advertised, does not require crossing traffic. The property is private yet convenient to restaurants, shops and several grocery stores. The pool, which we had heated, is right off the back with no steps necessary to access, making it kid and grandma friendly. The kitchen and baths are nice, but updates will be needed soon. All in all, a wonderful place to relax and reconnect with family while enjoying all that HHI has to offer.
