The casita is located 3 blocks from the Plaza Grande of Patzcuaro. The safe neighborhood provides comfort and convenience. While the casita is private and enjoys its own entrance, your hosts live next door, available for your questions, problems, or simple 'acclimatization'. We finished the construction in January 2009.
We have designed and decorated the casita to be comfortable and serviceable for the long and short term visitor. The lower floor contains the large bedroom with a big dresser, cadenza, and TV. A large walk-in closet provides sufficient storage. The master bath area has a shower, sink, toilet and linen closet. A coat closet at the entrance is deep and ideal to store luggage. The covered outdoor service area houses the washer and dryer.
Upstairs, the living area has immense light and beautiful views. The living room has a loveseat, upholstered chair, hassock and entertainment center. The dining area accommodates 4. The full kitchen has a 4 burner stove & oven, large refrigerator, and a big pantry. A half bath is located between the kitchen and the terrace. The outdoor terrace includes a table and four comfortable chairs.
For the couple (or single) looking for fantastic views, privacy, safety, and all of the conveniences one would hope for in a U.S. timeshare, this casita is perfect. All of historic downtown Patzcuaro is a short walk away.

Your hosts, Miles & Bekky Thompson, have lived in Patzcuaro for nine plus years. We rented an apartment in Patzcuaro for three months in 2006 to explore and decide whether we would relocate here permanently. That experience provided a lot of insight of what we would enjoy having in a rental unit. We also exchanged timeshares in the United States and Mexico for twenty years. We have included the conveniences we liked, and the necessities we missed, in the creation of our casita.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2009
Since 1994, we have travelled in many parts of Mexico. We chose to relocate to Patzcuaro for many reasons. While cool in the winter, our mountain town never suffers high temperatures in the summer. Being located in central Mexico allows us easy 3-4 hour trips to the beach, Guadalajara, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato. The eclectic group of Canadians and United States citizens is interesting. Most 'relocatees' are engaging and unpretentious, The native Patzcuarians are warm and welcoming.
I can't improve on previous guests' reviews other than adding I've already signed up for 3 months in 2017!
Sorry, five stars just aren't sufficient Bekky and Miles have anticipated your every need: efficiency, comfort, esthetics. They have spared nothing; it's as though they moved next door to give you their own home. None of the pictures due justice to this casita: in the sky, yet so close to town. It's a brisk walk up the hill from town but the cab is but 30 pesos ( two bucks! ) and a 5/10 peso tip brings of smile to the cabbie. Oh, yes, I'll return; after all I consider it a six-plus casita!
Panoramic view from the casita:
Wind swept clouds burl high
Over Patzcuaro's broad smile;
Sun, moon, temples reign.

Do not hesitate to stay here if you are looking for lodging in Patzcuaro! As your hosts, Miles and Bekky have truly thought of everything to create the perfect vacation rental. I have never stayed anywhere with this many amenities. During my month long stay, we had several unusual cold and rainy days. The apartment was so comfortable and the view so fantastic that I simply stayed in and enjoyed the fact that this was truly home. As others have stated, Miles and Bekky are delightful, knowledgable and I enjoyed our long conversations. One of my favorite days was going with them on a big grocery shopping expedition. lol Town and all it has to offer is just a short walk down the hill. The walk home is a great little workout either by way of stairs or the hill street. If you are not up for that, taxis are readily a a available everywhere. Enjoy Patzcuaro from this perfect apartment!
September 26th to October 26th 2013 will remain in our memories for many years to come. We were so lucky to find this gem of a casita waiting for us in Patzcuaro. What a great place to be able to call home for a full month!! My wife and I found ALL the nice things written in the previous reviews to be true PLUS the place, owners, local people and area itself are all just too nice to miss. This IS THE ONE you will truly love and not want to leave. And the PRICE? If you have the time then check out how little they ask for a whole month! We'll be back.
Our family of three, including 9 year old daughter, spent two great Semana Santa (Easter) weeks at Miles and Bekky's excellent house. Located three blocks above the town center, it is extremely well-equipped, tastefully decorated, and offers a heart-stopping view of the city and the lake. Separated from the owners' house by a two-car garage, it is quite private. And Miles and Bekky are the soul of discretion: there if you need them, invisible if not. I'd recommend their house unhesitatingly to Patzcuaro visitors.
The pictures don't do this lovely casita justice. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen felt like home, and the owners made us very welcome. Convenient to the rest of Patzcuaro on foot or via collectivo (the local van service, 6 pesos/person, available a block away), and the view was amazing. Everything was clean, and the washer/dryer was a nice bonus. Lovely for a couple, and we would definitely stay here again in the future.
