The unique location of this summer home offers a vacation for everyone. Those looking for an active vacation can enter Acadia National park just a mile away. Many Ox Hill residents walk the streets of the hill and get lost picking blueberries or simply experiencing the splendor of the area. Ride a bike down the hill to beautiful Seal Harbor or into Acadia National Park to take advantage of the many miles of carriage trails. Grocery stores are located in Northeast Harbor and nearby Bar Harbor where you will also find many restaurants and lots of shopping.
Hummingbird was named by our parents, who built it in 1963. They passed it on to their two sons, Tony & Jared, who own it together now, with our families. We spend most of July and August in the house each summer and rent it out in the fall and Spring. The home is very special to us and we hope to keep it in the family for generations. It is a simple, light- filled, comfortable and beautiful summer home that is a touchstone for our family and has brought us much joy for over 50 years.

Simply put, if you want to vacation in an easy, clean, beautiful setting, with incredible light, privacy and views - this is the place.
Could not have asked for a better place to stay near Acadia to celebrate a 40th birthday. The house was clean, comfortable, and well equipped (even came stocked with park maps and firewood!) and perfectly located, with easy access to Acadia National Park. The weather was on the cooler side during the visit, but the space heaters did the trick and the weather certainly made time around the fireplace that much more enjoyable. We didn't get to spend much time out on the porches due to the weather, but imagine they would be lovely in the warmer weather. The communal areas were spacious, yet felt cozy - perfect for hanging out and relaxing. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and the view from the master bedroom was breathtaking. Would definitely recommend staying at the Hummingbird!
Rolling out a vacation with 10 people is no easy task, but booking this home was as easy as it gets. The owner was responsive, very kind and welcoming. The house was easily accessible, well-appointed, and clean. Location was perfect as a basecamp for exploring Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, with plenty of privacy and space for our large group. Beds were extremely comfy (especially the master bed), and lots of lounge seating in the living room and multiple decks. The house is beautifully crafted, with plenty of character and comfort. Lots of splendid outdoor space as well for exploring, playing games, or just relaxing. An amazing home!
Was perfect long weekend stay in Acadia for our group with a couple small dogs. Echo the spectacular views from the master bedroom and living room/deck level, tranquil setting, and convenient location to everywhere on the island. Kitchen was very well equipped, fireplace was delightful and overall was spacious for a large group with multiple lounge/deck areas. Would certainly return.
This was a really great place; especially the living area/deck and upstairs bedroom. It was definitely more house than we needed (just my wife and I), but totally worth it with the views that we would wake up to each morning. The house was also clean, and well kept, and just a great get away. As an added bonus, hearing the slight ring of bell on the buoy off in the distance just added to the nice relaxing atmosphere. Tony was great with communication as well and always replied promptly.
If you're looking for a place to stay in Acadia you can stop looking. The Hummingbird is a great home in a great location and at a great value. The house is open and roomy with all the comforts of home. The yard is private and beautifully landscaped. When you feel the need to venture out you are never far from Acadia's top attractions.
I have been vacationing in Seal Harbor for many years and this home has been my favorite so far for location and beauty. It was quiet and serene with the most spectacular view of the ocean. It was a treat to wake up to every morning. The house had everything we could need and was a perfect home base for getting around MDI. Would definitely stay here again.
