The owner was very helpful and friendly! The apartment was clean and updated. It had everything we needed and close to the subway.

Barbara is the perfect hostess. The apt is exceptionally clean with plenty of room. Even a gift basket awaits ur stay. We do plan to return!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous NY apartment. Impeccably cleaned and styled, comfy bed and lovely cosy spot to restore and refresh after a big day of sightseeing! Barbara is a fantastic host, from letting us check in a bit early, to receiving a package for us on the last day, to leaving a lovely welcome package (including a truly appreciated bottle of red wine!). Whenever we are back in New York, this will be the place we return to!
My wife and I visited NYC this past December and chose to stay at "Lenny's Place" in Harlem. This is quite probably the best VRBO we've stayed in, and easily the best place we've stayed in New York. We are definitely planning on coming back!
Barbara is a marvelous hostess. She welcomed us, helped us get our bags up to the apartment (the one possible drawback, but the owners are up front about this, is that it is on the 3rd floor of a walk-up Brownstone residence - not a problem for us, and we liked being up from the street, but something to keep in mind), and had a gift basket with a bottle of wine and snacks ready to go for us. The introduction to the area that she provided, including favorite local restaurants, was exceptionally helpful throughout our week-long stay. The apartment itself is very spacious, clean, well lit and well appointed with comfortable furniture including the sofa and bed, great art up on the walls, and the kitchen and the cookware provided are great. There are two local grocery stores and plenty of dining establishments around to suit many tastes.. As far as convenience for getting around the city, the subway is less than a block away, as are stops for many buses including the M60 bus to LaGuardia airport.
We highly recommend this location, and when we return to NYC, we certainly hope it will still be available!
A girls trip to NYC to celebrate my daughters birthday for New Years Eve and it was great! We visited for nine days so it was important to find somewhere clean, comfortable with easy access to the subway. I'm pretty picky when staying away from home and I've heard horror stories about NY hotels so let me assure you, the apartment is clean, comfortable and well appointed. The apartment has everything you need to eat in and then some! The bed was very comfortable and the sheets, towels and blankets were of good quality. The welcoming treats were also a nice added touch. The owner is very thorough, accommodating and pleasant. She responds quickly and was flexible which was appreciated. The apartment is close to many good restaurants, in fact the owner has several menu's, guides and information available for you. The location was great; roughly a block from the subway and buses, the grocery store, restaurants and Starbucks. Getting a cab or Uber was also very easy; I flagged down a cab to lower Manhattan and the cost was $18! You can't beat this location. The neighborhood is safe and pretty quiet for NY. We went out to a local bar and walked home at 1am without any issue. Granted its the City so you should always exercise good judgement, but I felt very safe. People in New York mind their own business, and being here I learned most people are just too busy to be bothered.
My wife and I come to NYC 2-3 times a year primarily to see Broadway shows. For the first time, we stayed in Harlem and we are thrilled we did. It was great to be away from the crowds and noise of Mid-Town. The location worked very well for us. We had easy access to multiple subway and bus lines to get us anywhere in Manhattan and there are many excellent restaurants in the neighborhood. The apartment was large, comfortable, bright, very clean, well maintained and fully equipped. Barbara was an excellent host and attentive to our every need. We will definitely stay again.
