6102 House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 4 Bath Home

The Palm House is a privately owned beach home recently remodeled by the new owners as a vacation home for their family. Their goal in the renovation was to create a warm, comfortable, yet simple elegant atmosphere where they would feel at home and allow family members personal privacy while vacationing on the island of San Pedro. The Palm House is located 2 miles south of San Pedro and readily accessible by taxi or golf cart (available for rental in San Pedro).

The main house consists of three bedrooms with king size beds, three bathrooms, as well as a sleeper sofa that is a queen size bed. There is an attached guest house which also has a king size bed and a full kitchen with combination living room dining area. The guest house was renovated to the same quality as the main house and is ideal for someone requiring more privacy (such as Grandparents or Nanny).

The entire 3,000 sq. ft. home has been completely renovated to include stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops, dishwasher and washer and dryer. The main house and guest house have flat screen TV and DVD players along with docking stations. The house has a private fresh water pool. The property is beautifully landscaped with 120 feet of private beach. In addition to the pool there are bicycles and kayaks available for guests to use. The Palm House will comfortably accommodate 8-10 guests.

The beach provides a residence for 9 species of Palm trees as well as a green lawn. The Palm House is suitable for all occasions including weddings (arrangements can be provided), family retreats, social gatherings and designed to be child friendly for our grandchildren.

We provide maid service every other day. You can arrange with the housekeeper to prepare meals for you. She will buy the groceries, cook and clean the kitchen afterwards.

Arrangements can be made for scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing and fishing with pick up at the nearest pier and of course trips to the mainland to visit the Mayan Ruins, zip lining or cave tubing are possible.

Ambergris Caye is Beautiful!

  • 4 of 5

The Palm House is a beautiful house located right on the beach. The house itself was perfect for us. The main floor of the house has 2 master bedrooms that are identical and are located on opposite sides of the house. There is also a bedroom in the basement, but the bathroom for this room is at the top of the stairs away from the bedroom, so not a true master. The guest house is located inside the house (not a separate structure), but has a separate entrance. The laundry is outside.

The property is right next to a public playground with beach / pier access. There were people at the playground almost all the time, and it was more crowded on the weekend. I can't say that it bothered us all that much, but it's the type of information I would like to have before renting. The property does not have its own pier.

Overall, the house and property met out needs. However, there are a points of improvement that I would offer:

1. Pelican Reef Villas manages the property. I never had contact with the actual owners. We rented the property approximately 8 months in advance of our stay. The correspondence with the management of Palm House started off very well and the lady that was working with us was nice, informative and timely when answering my questions. However, about a month before arrived, I noticed that she was no longer responding to me and I had to send my questions 2-3 times via email before I would get a very short, curt response. There was no explanation for the change in contact, no apologies for lack of response, nothing. I had to get rude and demand some answers a week before we arrived because I was getting nowhere - and it was about information such as flight confirmation and pickup from the airport. I was extremely disappointed and felt uncomfortable about the arrival. Not ideal for the price.

2. Typically, VRBO properties have a book or some kind of information sheet about the house - where things are located, processes for trash, etc. There is not anything like this in the house. I'm assuming they want you to rely on Pelican Reef Villas but that is not our style. We rent the house and like to know how to operate it.

3. The air conditioner in the living room does not work well at all.

4. They list prices for activities on their site. Be aware that these prices may change without notice so ask prior to your stay if you would like to know the exact cost. I would probably book my own activities if I were returning.

Just spent eight awesome days at the Palm House. The house and property met all of our expectations and more! The owners and staff went above and beyond to insure we had a great trip, and we did! If you're looking for an island getaway and you're considering Belize, we highly recommend Ambergris Caye and the Palm House. You won't be disappointed! For added fun while you're there, sail on The Rum Punch ll with Capt. George!

Palm House March 2015

  • 5 of 5

10 of us including Myself, my wife, two kids (4,1), My sister, brother in law and their kids (5,2) and our parents stayed in this lovely home from the 23rd of March until April 1st, 2015. The house met our needs perfectly. Our parents particularly enjoyed having a separate suite with a separate entrance so they could get away from the commotion of four kids at times. The bedrooms upstairs were well separated giving each family a sense of privacy. Mariceli, our cook for the trip was great as was her assistant and daughter who helped each day for lunch and dinner. The food was fresh and well prepared and presented for each meal. The pool was a great addition, especially with young kids as the ocean is not ideal for swimming from the beach due to the sea grass, which there is a lot of. The kayaks and paddle boards worked well, as did everything else in the home. The island is easily accessible with a golf cart and made our morning trip each day for cinnamon buns at the bakery very simple. We snorkeled one day which was a highlight, we organized through pelican reef and were picked up on our dock. We also bone-fished two days which was also wonderful.

The palm house was a perfect way to enjoy Belize, I definitely recommend.

Perfect Paradise Property

  • 5 of 5

The Palm House is an amazing house located in the most gorgeous beach with a reef just off shore. The house is beautifully appointed, decorated and layed out in the most convenient way. Each bedroom is very large and has a beautiful and large private bath. The living area easily and comfortably held the 6 of us and more, if needed. Being an open concept living area we could relax, use the kitchen and dining area while enjoying each other. The gourmet kitchen had everything we needed to cook and we used the outside grill located under gorgeous palm trees overlooking the beach and aquamarine water. The large dining table, overlooking the pool and beach, was the perfect place to enjoy a few fabulously fresh ethnic meals that a wonderful local chef and her daughter prepared for us.

Palm trees, white sand beaches, lush grass and landscaping add another element which makes Palm House a top property. We spent many hours relaxing, reading, laughing, enjoying Pina Coladas by the pool using the most comfortable pool furniture. The house is also equipped with bikes and kayaks which add to the fun. To make the week more perfect are the property managers and house keeping staff which are more than eager to make the vacation unforgettable. The house is perfectly managed, decorated, and maintained inside and out.

The town is a fun and relaxed where we found the people to be very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed several restaurants with great food. Using our golf cart, we explored the island and town. We snorkeled a few days seeing a rich variety of marine life, bone fished, and had catamaran adventure including the most fabulous beach picnic with totally fresh seafood.

Our family had the most fun week in a gorgeous property in a location which is like paradise.

Thanks so much to the owners for providing a perfect home.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 just returned from a great week in San Pedro at The Palm House. It was a very comfortable stay and the pictures don't do the view justice. The water and unobstructed views of it are amazing. Just watching boats pass by or the full moon rise at night in front of the house with the Belize breeze are things you will long for when you leave.

The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, living room and kitchen all one open space and were where we spent most of our time when inside. The outdoor furniture was nice, pool is small but refreshing and they have a place to wash the sand off before coming up from the beach. Only downside is trash and seagrass mentioned in some other reviews.

The staff that managed the property were very attentive and made sure our stay was great. We were trying to get down some coconuts from the trees on the property and one of the grounds staff went and got a pole and machete and picked out the best ones for us.

The bikes and kayaks were nice to have we used them every day we weren't out on an excursion. Golf carts are probably a must if you plan on going out to eat, although there are a few restaurants close by. They were nice to run to the store or going into town as its about 2 miles from the main town area.

We had Mariceli and her daughter come and cook one night. We all agreed that it was the best meal we had all week and there are some very good restaurants on San Pedro.

Mel came to the house to give massages, very relaxing place to get this done either on the neighbors dock (if they aren't there) or just in the yard under the palms.

If you plan on going on a boat I highly recommend Oliver and his boat the Cari'bean. He is pretty popular so try and book ahead of time. Very nice riding boat nobody was seasick and that is usually the case with a few in our group. We went and caught our on bait with a cast net then fished on the reef, snorkeled and spearfished. Around lunch he took as to a private island that has 3 inhabitants (all dogs) and cooked our catch while we explored the island and caught a nap in the hammocks.

Also something we didn't take advantage of until the last day was Pelican Reef's pool and paddle boards that you can use as they are associated with the house. Nice infinity pool with a swim up bar.

Overall The Palm House has the location, amenities, and views that are hard to beat and will be a great place for your vacation we highly recommend it.

Excellent family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our daughters, a son-in-law, two toddlers, and his sister and her husband stayed in The Palm House for a week. It met almost all our needs. We asked for a playpen for the youngest and they did provide one but it was half sized so we just used it to block the stairwell instead and he slept with his parents. We were very impressed that the downstairs suite was built and furnished with the same quality as the upstairs and gave the great aunt and great uncle a place to retreat from the kids if needed. The kitchen was well equipped - important to is as we eat most of our meals in due to food allergy issues. The location was close enough to south San Pedro shops and fruit/veggie stands for daily shopping but far enough from the business of San Pedro to be relaxing. The bikes and kayaks got used almost daily. Bikes can actually get you around faster than the golf cart as the roads are very rough and the paved portion has huge speed bumps. But a golf cart is necessary to get heavy items like water and beer! The beach gets raked daily which is necessary as sea debris (including garbage) floats in to shore. We swam in the pool mostly because we didn't really like the sea grass - although along with the sea grass comes beautiful starfish, trumpet fish, rays, crabs, and other fish - so much fun to discover! There is a lovely wharf with a palapa (tho next door house claims to own the palapa). Tour operators pick you up right there so no need to go into town to access those trips. And please ask for Mariceli to come cook a meal for you - she is the sweetest person you will meet on the whole trip and a darn fine cook too!
