Idyllic Setting

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the charming Yellow Bay Lodge. The setting is so peaceful, and we loved taking in the gorgeous sunset while enjoying a fire, with views of Flathead Lake and being surrounded by cherry trees - we wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you for a perfect Montana experience!

We have been visiting these cabins for years. This was our first time at the larger Yellow Bay cabin and it was amazing. Thank you greatly!

This was our second year at the lodge and we love it. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Enough room to host our family while we visited and we had a campfire while the kids played outside. Sunsets from the porch- awesome!!! The young dog enjoyed all the country smells. The owner is a very discreet presence - very helpful and friendly but not obtrusive in any way. One consideration for some- the stairs to the sleeping loft are steep but there is a good railing. Wonderfully quiet. We hope to come back again.

Loved it! Hope to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Historic Lodge. It has that charm of being historic/restored/retro all-in-one without feeling like you're staying in an old, stuffy place like they can sometimes be. Very charming, roomy and comfortable. Great views - and great location. Close enough to everything we were interested in. Loved having firewood ready to go for the wood stove as it was pretty chilly our first couple of nights. Our kids (13, 11, 9) loved it . One suggestion to other renters - have your bear spray at hand even on the property - we saw a bear come across the front of the cleared area of the yard our first evening. While it was so exciting to see - as we were safely on the porch - our children had been out playing in the yard not that much earlier in the day! 2 suggestions to owners - a nightstand & lamp in the bunk room, and a laundry basket - obviously simple conveniences and nothing to ruin a vacation!

Owner's Response: We are so happy your family enjoyed your stay at our cabin. How exciting to see a bear close by. Black bears occasionally come around looking for fruit and other things to eat. They are not too interested in people and we have never had any problems. We are glad you were cautious and safe on the porch and did not leave anything to eat or any trash outside. Thank you for staying with us.

Yellow Bay Lodge & Studio

  • 4 of 5

The location & property were great. We had a wonderful reunion. The kitchen was poorly stocked with cooking utensils and plates and mugs and flatware for the 8 people it accommodates. The frig in the lodge was not full sized. There were lots of wasps so we had to buy a trap in order to eat outside. The master bedroom was great but the loft bedroom was noisy and hot. The heat was on in 2 rooms with no explanation of how to adjust it.

There was a general breakdown of communication around payment and having our questions answered. The VRBO site was challenging and incomplete.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your family reunion here, renting both cabins makes for a nice trip with plenty of room. We are sorry some items were not up to your expectations. We will be upgrading the dishes and other kitchen items. We have sprayed again for wasps, it is hard to get rid of them completely in this rural area. Usually the VRBO payment process usually works smoothly, sorry it did not for you. We really tried hard to respond to your needs so you could enjoy your trip. Thanks again for visiting our log cabins.

Idyllic Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our two adult children, just returned from a week at Yellow Bay Lodge. This was the most marvelous vacation we have taken in years. The lodge, the property, the view - all were simply outstanding. The cabin was exactly as pictured - delightful! I can't imagine it being any better. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed, but our hearts were a bit heavy. It's hard to leave heaven on earth! I have already e-mailed about booking for 2016. Thank you, George Gibson and family for a exceptional experience.
