Information Guide: We have assembled a binder with information about the fun activities, restaurants, places to visit based on our own experiences. This binder also tells you all about the cabin and how everything works. We will meet you at the cabin to make sure the accommodations are what you expected and to answer any questions you might have about the area or our cabin.
Dine in our Dine out: Many of our guests think they have to dine out all the time until they realize they would rather stay home at our cabin for many meals and just relax. The cabin has been our second home for years so it is equipped with everything you need to make as many meals as you like. It does not have a dish washer or garbage disposal as we felt that they did not belong in a rustic in the woods cabin.
Our Pet Policy: Many of our guest like to travel with their pets. We welcome pets but have learned some people over extend that welcome. We have had some trouble with mulitple large dogs that are not controlled by their owner. There are many places in the great out of doors for dogs to get very dirty. After one guest left we were cleaning up the cabin for an entire day because of the dirt, silt, hairs and stuff we could not even identify. We have had to modify our pet policy. If you bring a large dog or dogs, we would prefer that they be kennelled when left alone in the cabin. Small dogs never seems to be a problem as they do not wander off into the woods getting covered with 'who knows what'. If you bring a large dog that you cannot or do not wish to control, & you do not clean up after the mess it makes, we will have to charge you an extra cleaning fee or even damage charges. We have learned from our experience that large out of control dogs can actually cause damage to our nice clean cabin.
We lived for 30 years on the West Coast of Florida. We came up to the mountains for a vacation and fell in love with the area and the people. We used our cabin as our vacation spot until we finally moved just two miles down the road from the cabin.
L R and Jeni Silver purchased this cabin in 2004
We had visited the Sylva/Dilllsboro/Cherokee/Bryson City area on a vacation and were looking for a cabin to purchase so we could frequently visit the area.
A few months after visiting the area a realtor sent us a picture of the cabin.
We fell in love with it and purchased it. We stayed in our cabin often and left it just the way we had it when we stayed there. Beautiful pictures on the wall and lots of other fun decorations that make the inside as comfortable as the outside is beautiful.
Most of our guests love the very quiet setting for Silver Creek Retreat and sitting on the front porch feeling the breeze. We have been told the cabin has a magical feeling of serenity. Come and see for yourself.
Very nice, well-kept cabin. Stayed here for a week-long vacation with another couple. We had plenty of room, and the amenities were as described.
The only thing we didn't care for was the washer/dryer combo unit. The capacity is very small, and it takes a very long time. We packed light, knowing we'd have access to a machine, and ended up constantly washing tiny loads of grimy, sweaty clothes (we hiked). A regular stacking washer and dryer would have worked better, but isn't a deal-breaker.
We had a great time at Silver Creek Retreat. It was very peaceful and quiet. You could listen to the soothing sounds of the creek all day long from the front porch, and gaze at a million stars in the sky at night. Great communication with the owners. The cabin is centrally located, Dillsboro, Waynesville, Sylva, Bryson City, Cherokee, Maggie Valley all within 45 mins of the cabin at the most. Blue Ridge Parkway also a must see within 30 mins. Cabin is well stocked with everything you will need. We only wish we knew the history of the 100+ year old 'abandoned' cabin on the side of the road on the way in.....
We came up here for a long weekend with our two dogs, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience! The cabin itself is wonderful...it definitely has a feeling of home. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. Also, from the booking process to showing us around the cabin upon arrival, the owners were terrific! Everything was just wonderful. We can't wait to come back!!!
We had a lovely stay in the Silver Creek cabin! Can't beat the low price, and it was such a treat to bring our pup with us! The cabin is simple, but clean, well-kept, and very comfortable. We loved spending time along the Blue Ridge Parkway and eating at local spots in Sylva. The only downside is the very spotty wifi connection. Guests should know ahead of time that wifi is not unlimited and not very reliable. We came to get away, but were counting on reliable Internet access to plan our day trips, get directions, get maps for national forests, etc. Overall, we loved our stay!
Just returned from a week vacation at the Silver Retreat. Although it rained almost every day, we still had a window of sunny weather daily to explore the area during our stay. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the porch while watching busy humming birds gather their morning feast. This was our second stay at the Silver's; we appreciated their kindness and helpful hints that brought us up to date on the local places to visit and dine. The cabin in centrally located to area sights, which makes for pleasurable short outings, especially when Mother Nature does not want to cooperate! We love this place and plan on returning in October.
We had another great stay at Silver Creek Retreat. We first stayed 5 years ago. The set up is very nice. We enjoyed exploring the area.
