There are vibrant neighborhoods surrounding us offering a great variety of food and entertainment: THE INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT, SODO, DOWNTOWN, GEORGETOWN, COLUMBIA CITY and CAPITOL HILL... All of the mentioned 'south of downtown' neighborhoods are great representations of Seattle and easy to access from BEACON HILL.
Please refer to the VIDEO link to give you a clear picture of the Cottage.
We sit in a prime location with transit and freeways in close reach. You can access I-90/I-5 easily from the Cottage.
The #36 bus is a walk across the street and will take you downtown in 20 min.
If you are familiar with South Seattle, we are a few blocks south of the V.A. Hospital.
If you are on FOOT and coming from the AIRPORT, jump on the LIGHT RAIL and get off at the BEACON HILL stop. If our schedules match up, I'd be happy to pick you up from the Light Rail Station. The Cottage is also a short bus ride from the Light Rail. The bus stops within steps of the Cottage.
RENTING A CAR: 15-20 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the airport to the Cottage.
ARRIVING ON AMTRAK: A simple walk up to JACKSON ST. and hopping on the #36 to Beacon Hill. You can jump on the Light Rail and take it to the Beacon Hill Station as well.
Keywords: Cottage with bed and bathroom.
I love gardening and the cottage is surrounded by my efforts of creating a nest of greenery that puts the city at bay while you nestle in for a pleasant urban experience.
Seattle is a great City and I'm happy to show it off from the perspective of a proud homeowner and a seasoned traveler. Seeing the interior of a place through a cozy neighborhood makes a more relaxing and memorable trip. I don't charge damage/cleaning fees and I expect full payment when booking. I'm a small operation and rarely get cancellations. Our cottage has been very popular with our neighborhood who bring their family members to us.
We live near Jefferson Park which is an easy walk (1.5 miles) from the cottage. It has gone through an incredible renovation and expansion! We are proud to showcase a basketball court, 4 tennis courts, skateboard park and a children's play area.
There are incredible views of the city including parts of the Olympic mountain range. Jefferson Park Golf Course/Driving range is a well respected public golf facilities and it has been newly renovated! Check out their Restaurant for breakfast if you happen to be walking to the Park.
We found our perfect place to stay in Seattle! The Beacon Hill Cottage in the City was cozy, quaint, comfy, and the owner makes you absolutely feel like you are more than just a guest....We felt right at home. Mary Sorman sets the bar high for her attention to detail. We were delighted that the cottage was furnished with such a comfortable bed, plenty of space considering the size of the cottage, and that the extra perks were all of our favorite things. We have never stayed anywhere as wonderful as this. Thank you, Mary, for making our stay in Seattle so delightful. We hope that the cottage will be available for us to stay the next time we visit our son, Ben, who lives in the city. It's certainly an extra blessing when the owner of the property is a kind, kind soul and for us.... a kindred spirit.
The cottage was exceptionally clean, neat and inviting. The host has a strong desire to make her guests feel welcome and does a terrific job at it. Her knowledge of the area neighborhoods, along with binders with special places to visit, maps and so many great ideas enhanced our walking adventures. Internet connection was fast and reliable. The 36 bus stop is right across the street to take one down town in a matter of minutes.
My stay was lovely. There was coffee for the morning. A comfortable place to stay. I have already suggested it to several people. Thank You!
We were looking for somewhere in Seattle that would be quiet, have easy access to downtown & with offstreet parking and this cosy garden cottage perfect for us.
Mary was a fantastic host, very friendly and helpful. The cottage has everything you could need (even a small fridge & kettle) & it was lovely & clean. It's not a huge place but we certainly didn't struggle as it's well laid out and has a big comfy bed. There was lots of information available so we could find out local info from the folders & leaflets in the cottage.
There's a bus stop to downtown 1mins walk away over the road and the bus stops almost right outside when you come back from downtown. It's cheap & easy to get the bus to downtown which also goes past Jefferson Park, Chinatown & near Pioneer Square too. It took around 20mins to get into town depending on whereabouts you decided to get off.
From downtown you can easily catch the monorail to the Space Needle and Seattle Centre (EMP museum, glasshouse, IMax etc). Also downtown is the large market selling everything you could want with floors downstairs to explore too.
Georgetown is an area nearby the cottage & was recommended for a visit. We had breakfast at The Hangar, which had awesome pancakes & breakfast burritos. A little further on there's a great music shop and a very good chocolatiers too. We passed quite a few places to eat or go for a drink too in this area.
If we visit Seattle in the future we'd definitely stay again.
This is a wonderful little place to stay in Seattle. The cottage is small and cozy, but very clean and well stocked. WiFi internet was fast and problem-free. Good restaurants and corner shops are only a few blocks away (I walked one night, took maybe 5min). The owners are VERY nice and friendly and they make you feel right at home! Given the location in the area, this property is priced extremely reasonably. I would definitely recommend staying here, and would stay here again myself if I were back in Seattle. One last thing, as others have commented, yes, the home is in the flight path for SeaTac Airport. I didn't see this as an issue at all, as most of the Seattle area has aircraft-generated noise. Afterall, it is the home of Boeing, so what can one expect?
Mary and Bonnie were the perfect hosts. The cottage was exactly as described on the site. We enjoyed our visit to Seattle and our wonderful conversations with Mary and Bonnie. The cottage had everything we needed. The refrigerator was stocked, and there were binders with information about every neighborhood in town. The garden was beautiful.
We felt like this was a home away from home, and will be certain to return when we visit Seattle again.
Jefferson Park Public Golf Course and Driving Range is an easy 15 minute walk from the Cottage. There is also a large Park next to the Golf Course offering great views of Seattle's skyline.
