The location is perfect. I wanted to be close to the lake, airport and Evanston. I am a fanatic for wonderful architechture and Rogers Park is known for the late 20's grand style. Only 10 miles from O'Hare Field. Midway Airport is 22 miles away. Just a 15 minute ride on the Union Pacific train to the heart of the city. This train stop is only 6 blocks from Residence on the Avenue. Ravinia Park, the out door concert venue can be reached in 20 minutes by this same train. The Red line will take you to Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo & to down town. Wrigley Field home to the World Series Championship Cubs is just 15 minutes from our location!
I love the location. All that the city has to offer is so reachable. Lake Shore Drive is so close and can take me to the Magnificient mile (Michigan Avenue)Or head the other direction where LSD becomes Sheridan Road & view the beautiful mansions along the way to the Chicago Botanical Garden..........All along the the lake front. I enjoy as well the peacefulness ofthe beautiful North Shore towns of Evanston, Willmette, Winnetka & Glencoe Having the lake front so close is also a benefit.
Excellent place to stay, clean, roomy (5 of us were here and didn't feel cramped) and quiet. Also, very nicely decorated and close to a train station as well. Having personal parking is also a nice perk/bonus. Has all the utensils needed, dishwasher, coffee maker, stove, fridge all you need. Had a wonderful time and would come back again.
My friends and I stayed at the Residence on the Avenue "Garden" Unit for our 10-year reunion at Northwestern. It was perfect. The unit is spacious, modern, and beautiful. We had no problems checking in and checking out, they were very accommodating of letting us drop bags off before our official check-in time. We didn't make much use of the kitchen but it was fully stocked with cookware. We did like how central the kitchen was and we spent a lot of time around the table talking and catching up; it was a great place for this. One of the other things we liked were that that sleeping rooms were all nicely spaced out from each other, and there were enough bathrooms, which really spread the "getting ready" in the morning out so we weren't just running into each other all the time. There were also extra blankets and pillows in the closets, and basic toiletries (soap, etc) in the bathrooms.
Communication with the property manager was very easy. You can take Uber to Northwestern for ~$12 in this area if you don't have a car. Plus the whole area is lovely and quiet, lots of tree-lined streets, and the light that filters in to the unit in the mornings through the leaves outside was very calming. We did not walk to the El from this location; it wasn't super close, but you could probably uber there in <5 min for really cheap. Would definitely stay again.
The property was clean and worked great for our family. It was really close to Evanston, but the fun parts of the city were still accessible. Parking was a little bit of challenging in the evening, but we were able to find a spot within a couple of blocks of the apartment each night. I will keep this spot in mind for my next Chicago trip.
One of best places we have stayed. Everything was so nice, clean, and beautifully decorated. Ross and William were great to deal with and were so accommodating in providing suggestions for places to visit, eat, and answering any questions we had. Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms were perfect for our needs. Loved having off street parking and definitely recommend that option when booking to stay here. "L" train station was only a few blocks away and liked fact we could use the public parking garage when using the train to go to Wrigleyville. Felt right at home and would definitely consider again.
Very clean, and the caretaker who lives on site was very helpful.
We needed a place with no stairs, and close to Rogers and Howard Parks for a family event. We paid $10 a day for a parking spot and rented a car from the Enterprise on Western Ave. Our parking area was easy to get to. Ross, the caretaker assured me that if I got lost, I could call him and he would tell me how to get back.
Jarvis Ave area is quiet. Other than the dehumidifier running during the night, our stay was quiet. The kitchen is clean and well supplied with dishes and appliances. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of towels, and the two bathrooms were an added bonus, when we had company over one afternoon. The garden area in back, is small, but nice to be able to sit outside in your own privacy among the trees, grass and flowers and listen to the cicadas.
There was even an onsite bunny rabbit.
Good WiFi and TV reception. I had two bars on my cell phone, so I made use of the toll free landline phone that was available.
Our first night we arrived late. The unit has a book of close grocery stores, restaurants, trains, etc. I called for Chinese delivery from the list of restaurants provided. I don't remember the name, but delivery was prompt, plenty of food and it was good.
I recommend the Cermak Store on Damen and N Ridge Blvd. Get your breads, pastries, sandwich goodies, fresh fruits and head back to the Garden Unit on Jarvis and prepare yourself a meal.
It is a comfortable area to get out and take a walk.
If you are new to Chicago and plan on staying here and driving, orient yourself to Howard St, N. Ridge Blvd, Touhy Ave. and N. Sheridan Rd. I did not have a chance to ride the "L" Red Line train so I have no recommendations.
Sheridan Rd. will get you south to Wrigley Field or north to Northwestern University and clear into Wisconsin.
Yes, I would definitely stay here again!!
This place was absolutely amazing. William and Ross took great care of me. First time in Chicago from Houston, there couldn't be any other place I would've chosen. Response was very quick. Will definitely rent again, next year around! Thank you!
North Shore. Near Northwestern University. Loyola University. 20 minutes to Downtown Chicago. 5 minutes to down town Evanston. Walking distance to the Red Line as well as bus service so you can reach the city center with in 20 minute. This is truly a great place to call home while exploring all the wonderful things that Chicago and Evanston have to offer.
