This charming 2 story log cabin is set on a private, secluded road 11 miles off Highway 84. The spacious living area and kitchen, dining area are located on the first level as well as a large, beautiful wood-burning fireplace and washer/dryer & bathroom. Both bedrooms and there other bathroom are located upstairs. One bedroom has 2 queen beds and the other has one queen bed. This cozy mountain retreat is the perfect setting for much deserved rest and relaxation. The view off the front porch is magnificent!
The location of the cabin was perfect - only 9 miles off the main road up the scenic mountain and conveniently close to more cabins where other members of our holiday group stayed. My family of 4 shared this cabin with our friends who also are a family of 4 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The cabin is made of beautiful wood and had excellent amenities (tv, fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, plenty of hot water, towels, showers, and nice bathrooms). Even with the cold temperatures outside, it was always lovely and toasty inside the cabin where there were plenty of heaters and a cozy fireplace. To top our wonderful experience off, Jimmy the caretaker was extremely friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again on a heartbeat and I would highly recommend this vacation cabin to anyone thinking of needing to get away from it all.
My family just had a great time staying at this cabin with another family we are dear friends with. It was that perfect mountain cabin you see in the movies where it is rustic in style yet beautifully equipped, deeply nestled in the woods enough to have a sense of privacy, with a view of the mountains from the front porch, but still near civilization enough (Pagosa Springs, CO about 30 min away) for shopping and restaurants, and near enough to skiing (Wolf Creek Ski Resort) that it was an easy day trip. There were two bedrooms: one had two queen beds, and the other had one. We drove from Texas so we brought a queen air mattress so our kids could also sleep on that in the room with one bed.
The kitchen, dining, and living room were all open to each other with wraparound porches outside. The two families loved the open plan for hanging out, we especially used the kitchen barstools quite a lot.
The washer and dryer were welcome and well used with all the sledding the kids did. It was clean and well maintained.
There was a caretaker named Jimmy on site, in a nearby enough cabin that if we had any questions, or wanted help with properly setting a log fire in the living room's big hearth fireplace, he was there for advice. There was a huge cord of dry wood stored under the roof overhang for our use.
One other cool thing we learned about this property when we stayed there: it is on a huge piece of land where the owner has several rental properties of various sizes. That would be pretty fun to rent many of them at once for a family reunion vacation or a corporate retreat.
There was a river running through the Blanco Basin nearby for beautiful hikes when it is not so snowy, and fishing.
I'd like to go back and get some more skiing in at Wolf Creek!
What a great way to escape Texas and catch a glimpse of an ideal winter. Breathtaking view of the mountain in a perfectly snowy setting. The cabin has everything you could need- washer and dryer, comfortable beds, full kitchen, etc...can't wait to come back!!!
We spent a week in this snowy paradise. Our cabin was everything we could have hoped for in a mountain retreat. The bedrooms were comfortable with vaulted ceilings and wood stoves. The two full bathrooms plus a washer and dryer accommodated two families of four perfectly. The kitchen was well appointed with everything needed to prepare meals. The entire cabin was decorated with artwork and rustic treasures. The caretaker, Jimmy was very friendly and super helpful. Top that off with unbelievable views from every angle. It was literally like waking up in a postcard every day. We hope to visit many more times!
My family booked this wonderful cabin vacation in Pagosa Springs last summer! The views were breathtaking, the activities were fun and exciting for the whole family. We especially enjoyed horseback riding and our wonderful guide! See was also amazing! Looking forward to another great vacation in the cabin in the mountains, THIS summer!
Coziest cabin with ALL of the comforts of home. My family and I stayed here last summer and truly felt at home. The cabin had all of the necessities - linens, towels, fully stocked kitchen, you name it. If there just happened to be something we needed the amazingly helpful caretakers Jimmy and Sabrina were a phone call away and ready and willing to take care of us. The views are to die for and the peacefulness of the mountains when sitting on the porch is exactly what we needed for a relaxing vacation. We had access to ponds on the property for fishing as well, which was a major plus for my father who is an avid fisherman. We enjoyed our time so much last summer that we have already booked our return trip for 2016!
