About the property

House, Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Tired of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki? Forget all your worries and troubles in this quiet studio just a short walk to the beach which also offers stunning views of the majestic Koolau mountain range. You are just a short walk to Kalapawai Market for some of the best Kona coffee around and you can enjoy it for a walk on the beach for sunrise where you might be lucky enough to see the whale spouts in the distance or the turtles closer to shore, or bring it back to the lanai to watch the sun light up the Koolaus. Spend the day sightseeing or enjoying one of the many water sports available at Kailua Beach, but savor the peace and quiet of a residential neighborhood in the evening and wake up refreshed for another day in paradise.

The best of everything in Hawaii - the pristine beaches, beautiful nature, wonderful people without the hectic pace of Waikiki or Honolulu. It's also 1 of the safest places we have ever lived and is welcoming to families and singles alike.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for everything. With all the detailed local information on beaches, hiking, restaurants, beaches, etc., we were able to truly enjoy each day. We really appreciated the mangoes and Kumi's noppe, which was so delicious. Your warm welcome allowed us to relax and just soak up the beautiful Kailua sun and sea. We will definitely be back next time we come to Oahu, but we have to make it over to see the turtles! Best of luck for 2011.

Great Location! Very helpful host. Definitely recommended.

  • 4 of 5

Property is in a perfect location only a couple blocks from the beach. Way more laid back than the concrete jungle of Waikiki. Scott was very helpful and informative when you ask of his opinion for places to visit and things to do and see.

No bathroom door!!! Great place for a budget.

  • 3 of 5

My fiancé and I stayed here for 6 nights. The location is great and owner was very polite and prompt to address any requests.

If you did not throughly read all of the reviews, you will be unpleasantly surprised to find a curtain as the bathroom door. Please keep in mind this curtain does not block ANY sound. We played loud music to dampen any noises that may have come about.

I believe this is critical info and should be disclosed by the owner in the property overview.

Other then the curtain, everything else with the unit was as described. Towels, clean linens, dish and bath soap, a new sponge, paper towels, tissues, and trash bags were all provided. The place was clean and everything worked. The hardware on most of the windows is broken but they still open/close by manually moving the louvers. The blinds are also very tricky, but functional. The deadbolt does not work but the lock on the doorknob does. The toilet sometimes gets stuck and continues to run unless you jiggle the flusher. These are all small problems that the owner should address ASAP. The fridge also makes a ticking sound and the windows are very close to the street so you hear everything.

Make sure you bring a set of ear plugs or you will practally jump out of bed when the mopeds go flying by with no exhaust pipes (obviously out of owners control... the cops should crack down as it is very comon in Hawaii). We never heard any noise from the owners.

For around $100/day and access to bikes, beach gear, and washed/dryer, you really can't go wrong as I was unable to find any other unit in this town for less, especially not with these amenities. The only reason for 3 stars is due to the fact the owner failed to disclose info regarding the bathroom door.

Terrific place, amazing hospitality.

My wife and I had a terrific 2-week stay with our 4 month old son. The place is bright and breezy and minutes from the beach. We were most impressed with Scott (the host) who made sure we had everything we needed and was very prompt with responses.

Perfect Honeymoon Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. Scott is extremely helpful. The place is sized perfectly for a couple that does not mind being close. This place is completely equipped for a convenient stay. I would definitely recommend this homestay. It is in a very safe neighborhood. The bikes were perfect to use to ride down to the beach. He offered us prompt transportation to the airport as well. He was very flexible and an amazing host. This is a great place to get-away with your loved one. <3

Map

Kailua, East Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA - You are just a short bike ride away to the start of the Lanikai Ridge Trail- something that is easy even for beginners, but offers unforgettable views of Kailua Bay and Lanikai Beach all the way to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. After stretching your legs on the hike you can go into town for breakfast at Cinnamon's and their delicious daily specials or to Boots and Kimo's for their famous macadamia nut pancakes. Spend the day window shopping through Kailua Town and the night offers many great restaurants, such as Buzz's Steakhouse which is just a short walk from the studio, and finish the night up with a drink or 2 at the Kailua Town Pub, Boardriders or one of the other bars in the area. Come to Kailua Aloha for the vacation of a lifetime. Mahalo! Thank you!
