Artful kitchitz in this CHARMING and pristine cabin set beneath a canopy of stars deep into the Blanco Basin. A vast feeling property and stunning views all within a cozy enclave . 2 bedrooms with king sized beds can sleep up 4 adults comfortably! Room for extra guests or children in the living room. A fully operative fireplace and chopped wood supply awaits(although we regretfully didn't use!) Would love to come back in the summer and witness the contrast. Highly recommend!

Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay here twice in 2015. It was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful scenery, abundance of wildlife, excellent fishing and the history of the area is well worth the trip. The cabin was clean and beds were extremely comfortable. The caregivers were friendly and very helpful if needed. The road to the cabin is well maintained. We will certainly be staying here again.

Annual Blessing

My elderly parents, my teenage daughter and I have stayed at this cabin for the last 3 summers and have thoroughly enjoyed our week there. Even though we have other options, this cabin is our very favorite. It is cozy but roomy. The views of the mountains and horse pastures are to die for. The distant sound of the Rio Blanco just adds to its perfect natural ambiance. We are always so sad to leave but look forward to our return!

Mountain paradise!

  • 5 of 5

The Oppenheimer cabin provided the perfect mountain get-away for our family of three! Situated in the San Juan mountains, it is surrounded by snow capped peaks within walking distance of the Blanco River . While the fully equipped cabin is cozy, immaculately clean, and decorated with authentic Native American artifacts, it is hard to tear oneself away from the back porch. Elk, deer, and badger pass within 30 feet of the yard while hummingbirds buzz around feeders. Nearby attractions might include day trips to Pagosa Springs to enjoy the hot tubs, shopping, and farmer's market, a train ride on the Durango-Silverton railroad, and a drive over Wolf Creek Pass. The care taker supplied all of our needs without being intrusive. While offering all of the comforts of home, including satellite TV, one can easily forget the cares of the world in this cabin. We hope to return time and again and highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from it all. And yes, the teenager did survive without Wifi! Did I mention that back porch?

Rocky Mountain Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the the most fantastic stay at the Oppenheimer cabin in the high mountains of Colorado's southeast. The cabin itself was well appointed and very comfortable. The bed was a delight to sleep in and the kitchen had all the modern conveniences. However, the true magic of this property was outside. The cabin has an excellent covered deck and an amazing view of the mountains and meadows of the Rocky mountains. My wife and I spent all of our time while at the cabin sitting on the deck. We were treated to an almost non-stop show of wildlife. Deer were a constant companion. Horses are kept on the property and are friendly and will take a carrot or apple from your hands. We had the most amazing horseback ride into the mountains. Coyotes begin singing near sunset and the lighting at that time was surreal. But, arguably, the show stopper was a herd of elk that came within 40 yards of us and on a daily basis they would bed down and graze in the meadows surrounding the cabin. Did I mention the fishing? Private access to the Blanco river is only a walk of 100 yards and I caught and released several very large rainbows. This is truly a special place and is in fact, a Rocky mountain paradise. We can't wait to come back.

Awsome cabin and property

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is located in one of the most beautiful mountain valleys in Colorado. The pristine Upper Blanco River is a lovely walk across the pasture for fishing and exploring. The views are breathtaking in every direction and the property could be out of a western movie. We enjoyed barbecuing and lounging on the porch after a hard day of hiking and then cozying up to the wood fire in the evening. I have never had such good nights sleep in such wonderful beds. I wanted to stay forever. The ranch horses enjoyed some apples every morning. The cabin is delightful and I loved the old fashioned deep bathtub. The night sky is really something to see up there. Wake up to Elk munching right out your window. If you are looking to de-stress and leave the rat race behind, looking for pristine beauty, this is the place. Our hosts, Barbie and Frank were some of the kindest most wonderful people I have ever met. I will come back year after year.
