Classic Beach House on State Park Beach

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8))

We are located approximately 50 feet from the boundary of MacKerricher Beach State Park on an acre of sand dunes on Ward Ave just 3 miles north of the town of Fort Bragg. Unlike many, if not most, of the houses on the North Coast we are at beach level and just (2)minutes from the sand and miles of walkable beach. One can walk the uncrowded beach north to Inglenook Fen or south on the old logging 'Haul Road' through MacKerricher all the way into town. The view from the house south is of 'Laguna Point' which is a prime spot for viewing sea lions and migrating whales.

The house is a classic beach house. It is not fancy but has everything one needs. We have loved it for 40 years because of its location and casual comfort. It is great for children and grandchildren who love the easy access to the sand, the large wraparound deck and sleeping in the loft. Please note the sleeping accomodations: We have just completed an addition of a second bedroom. The original bedroom has a new, queen, memoryfoam bed; the new bedroom has a new queen bed; the den has a queen hide-a-bed; and the loft has two queen beds side by side and one single bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped and there is cable TV, DVD/VCR and small stereo with i-pod dock for those that want them. WE NOW HAVE WIRELESS INTERNET.

About Eric Nelson

I own this house with my sisters. We inherited it from our parents who lived in it for 15 years after Dad retired. My folks chose the location for its beauty and historical ties. My grandfather learned his trade as a saw filer in the old Fort Bragg lumber mill and my great-grandfather was killed in the nearby woods in a logging accident over 100 years ago.

Eric Nelson purchased this house in 1969

Guestbook comments from the owner

"I can't imagine a better week! The kitchen had everything we needed, there were plenty of beds and blankets, great family movies, showers were hot & toilets flushed, and the beach was across the street. We flew your kite, rode our bikes and walked our dog every day and night. The location is amazing! The state park and beaches are clean. Great local grocery stores. It was very relaxing and like home. I hope we cared for your home,as you would have. So, thank you."

Love this property!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I have stayed here 3 times and absolutely love this property. Very comfortable. Located right across the street from the ocean ~doesn't get much better than this. The owner Eric is very easy to work with. Hoping to take my husband and some family members here this summer.

Can't go wrong with this one.

The Perfect Beach House

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here two weeks ago to celebrate my 50th birthday! We all had the best time! The house had everything we needed for our stay. It was great having two full baths and the kitchen had everything you could think of. We spent our days at the beach, just a few steps away, playing different outdoor games. Morning walks on the beach and BBQ dinners at night!!! Beautiful view from living-room windows. Can't wait to go back!!!

Very Comfortable & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My oldest daughter and my only grandchild were coming to visit from out of state. My grandchild is 18 mos old. Part of our group was going deep sea fishing first thing Saturday morning so I was staying to watch my grandson. The place fit all of us, 5 in total, very comfortably. The view was GREAT and the layout perfect for all of us with a toddler. We are planning on going back sometime. Thanks to the owners who were great to work with.

Amazing location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week here with our two young adult daughters. The location is amazing--a short walk across the street took us to a lovely, uncrowded beach, the huge windows gave us unobstructed views of the Pacific where we saw dolphins and whales swim by (not to mention the deer behind the house), and it was a quick drive to town. The house is not luxurious but it's a perfect family beach house, fully equipped with everything you might need. Fort Bragg was a little challenging to get to for New Englanders like us, but it was well worth the effort, and we would love to return to this house. Fort Bragg is a small-ish town but it offered great restaurants and plenty of activities. We enjoyed fishing out of Noyo Harbor, horseback riding on the beach, shopping in Mendocino, and pizza at Piaci--all within a short drive of the house. Eric, the owner, was very helpful and responsive. We highly recommend this house.

Fabulous Location with all the Amenities

  • 5 of 5

My family (6 adults) spent two days in this wonderful home. It was very comfortable and had everything that we needed including WiFI. It was exactly as advertised. My sons were already asking when we could come back before we had even left. I would highly recommend this house.

The Ultimate Family Beach House

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of spending this past Memorial Day Weekend with my family at this gorgeous beachfront property. Eric (the owner of said breathtaking home) was very accommodating, helpful, and prompt when responding to emails. The house came with a ton of amenities (games, movies, additional blankets, silverware, pots & pans, a bbq grill, you name it!) for me and my family to use. I definitely recommend this house!
