East Cape is a world class location for sports fishing catching Marlin, Dorado, Tuna, Wahoo and more. We can arrange a fisherman’s package with our charter cruiser “Bite Me” (see photo).
Transportation can be arranged from the airport.
Don and Janet Berry reside in central California and are General Engineering Contractors active in road and site construction. After many years of auto racing Don's passion changed to sport fishing and led to having a sport fisher built locally. Bite me is one of the many fine boats available for rent thru the Palmas de Cortez hotel. Our love for the East Cape has led to us purchasing this villa. Our large family has many happy memories of East Cape adventures.
Don Berry purchased this condo in 2010
The sport fishing is world class and so close by that you can watch fish being caught from your chair. The sunrises are spectacular. We love to have our morning coffee by the pool and watch the cruiser traffic jam at the dock at 7:00 am. With the addition of the new restaurant, you can have your catch prepared and dine at your own table if you wish.
Beach strolls and sunbathing at the pool are year round. The swim up friendly bar is a favorite. The Palmas de Cortez day spa offers excellent massages. Wind and kite surfing are only steps away. Many fine restaurants are within walking distance.
Our group comes down every year with most staying at the Palmas. I generally book a Master Suite in the Villas... this year I went for a split with my best friend and his wife and couldn't be more happy that I did. Fishing this year was off the charts. Is there such a thing as too many Marlin??? Answer... yes!!!! Could not have asked for a better time. The amenities and convenience of this unit are so good I'm almost hesitant to pump it up too much for fear of someone edging me out on booking it again next year. The owner is very thorough and easy to book with, the Villas property manager is steady and tends to the needs of the owners of the Villas and their guests, and the town still has the quaint feel of a sleepy fishing village while offering a variety of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Thanks Much Don!!!!! I'll let you know as soon as I get the dates confirmed for our trip next year...
Was here a year ago and now finishing another great stay at this fantastic condo in a great little fishing town. Stay a few days and spend some time fishing, wandering around the area and relaxing at the resort-you won't regret it!
We brought my in-laws and our three children to Los Barriles and stayed at the this Villa. The villa is beautiful, well kept, fully stocked and very spacious. The staff at the resort were very helpful and extremely welcoming. The best asset about this villa is that it is on the ground floor. The advantage of being able to walk out onto the patio, then head directly to the pool or beach (which is literally steps from the villa) was priceless. Our children loved to be able to run in and out as they pleased. You are just a short walk from the town, restaurants and grocery store. The beach was quiet, the ocean was great to swim in and we fished right from shore. The only tip I would give is to bring plenty of cash because several of the excursions only accepted cash or offered a discount for cash payment. If you do any fishing, make sure to take your catch to the resort restaurant to prepare. It was one of the most amazing meals we have ever eaten! The pictures of the villa shown on this site are exactly what you find when you get there. I would definitely recommend this rental!
This unit exceeded my expectations! It was more room than we needed with 4 adults and 1 small child, but having the space was wonderful. This unit is well kept and well stocked as there were plenty of dishes, pool towels, etc. Also, it was very nice to have Pedro on-site just in case we needed something. However, Don was more than responsive when I contacted him and we didn't really run into any urgent issues during our stay. Having the ground floor unit was very nice as we could just walk outside and either head to the pool or to the beach.
The one negative is that the A/C is turned off for most of the winter months and it was unseasonally warm during our stay. It wasn't bad during the day as we could leave the doors open while we were there. However, when the unit was closed up during the day and at night when we closed the living room sliders, it was uncomfortable. Also, the pools were very cold; don't think that they were heated. Those are my only gripes...otherwise, it was an absolutely perfect place to stay and we definitely plan to return!
Favorite restaurants were Campestre Trinny and El Viejo. Favorite activity other than relaxing at this beautiful home was renting an ATV and driving up north to Punta Pescadero and to a beach just north of there. We had the entire beach to ourselves and it was a breathtaking scene!
we got this place very last minute, but it was ready to go. the entire complex (condo & hotel) was very quiet with few people around, as were the surrounding areas and beach. i'm told that las Barilles is more popular in spring time when fishing is in season. however, the days were beautiful, warm & sunny. the condo unit is just like the photos and though you do give up some privace by being on the ground floor, the advantage of just walking out to the pool area and beach is worth it. the pool was not heated and a bit too cold, but i'm told that they are about to hook up to solar heating for the pool. The place was very clean and aside from no tissues, napkins,or paper towels, the place had most everything you need. The condo manager was very nice and accommodating, as were ALL the people that work in the complex. the food at the restaurant was just OK, but it was convenient and there was no better food anyplace nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend the place, if you are looking to really chill out. the entire area felt very safe and the town had a very nice, laid back vibe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo is beautiful in an excellent setting beside the pool and beach; everything was just as advertised. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Being on the ground floor level was very nice, as the beach and pool are that much more accessible. Don was very helpful . Our family of 6, from MN and UK hope to be back next winter. Highly recommend dinner at Herman's, a snorkeling trip south to the national park (sea lions, whales, fish and coral), and kitesurfing with the crew at Exotikite, on the beach about a mile north .
Par three golf course on site, Car or Quad rental nearby. We have our own 28 ft. sport fisher ' Bite Me ' with English speaking crew and will arrange a fisherman's package to suit your needs upon request..
