December 2017 - St. Croix and the Theatre dodged the bullet on Hurricane Irma - and while the Theatre suffered no damage from Maria, the rest of the island was not so lucky. But we’ve done a wonderful job of recovering - and when I was on island at the beginning of November - things were clearly getting back to normal. All power to our resort - and to Christiansted has been resorted - and almost all restaurants and bars and touristy spots are open and waiting to welcome you to our island paradise!
You earned your vacation - You deserve the best - so you and your family deserve the Theatre on the Beach on St. Croix.
A proud participant in HomeAway's Best Kitchen Contest!
Come down and enjoy the absolutely amazing view - there is nothing between you and the ocean but 40 feet of white sand and 2 palm trees.
We guarantee that when you open the door to the Theatre on the Beach - you will be blown away.
After admiring the view - admire our stunningly beautiful Kitchen, Master and Guest Bedrooms, Master and Guest Bathrooms, and our Plus with it's hand painted Mural of Palm Trees. Just adorable.
Granite counters, amazing amounts of storage in the kitchen, top-of-the-line stove, fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and appliances. Central Air Conditioning - natch! Cooking with a view - why not?
In the Master Bathroom there's a fab double headed shower - Massage heads on one side, rain shower with rain shower hand held on the other, granite counter tops (of course) - and a Toto toilet. In the Guest Bathroom we've gone old school - luxury relaxing tub, shower and massage shower head, and granite counter top. Check out the pictures... it's so lovely.
Want more - you got it! Beach Towels, Beach Toys, Snorkle Gear, Games, Coolers, Changes of linen, Changes of Towels - all supplied - along with our oh so handy washer and dryer to keep things clean.
More Fun at the Theatre - 60' HDTV with Satellite TV (over 200 channels), Blu-ray disk and DVD player - and now 2 fun Free Kayaks for you to enjoy - the Sunny Side - our Bright Yellow Tandam Kayak, and Yellow Frenzy - one person Kayak.
What is our PLUS? It's our hidden extra bedroom with it's palm tree mural. Not only do you have an over-sized Master bedroom (with fab view of the beach and ocean), a lovely Guest bedroom with a queen sized bed and lovely view of our gardens, but there's an extra room with 2 twin beds - excellent for overflow - or just close the door - you are down to 2 bedrooms (with office space if you'd like).
And if you are wondering where the name Theatre on the Beach comes from - its to honor our extensive Caribbean themed DVD collection. And a selection of my favorite videos if you want something besides Caribbean. Plus - we've have unlimited FREE high speed internet - bring your own laptop and the internet access is on us.
So if you've decided on St. Croix - choosing the Theatre should be an easy decision!
Called the Surprising Virgin - St. Croix is a wonderful mixture of the laid back character of St. John and the hub-bub of St. Thomas. And because it's large enough to have it's own farms and industry, prices are not outrageous! In fact, local fruits and vegetables are actually quite a bargain.
Theatre on the Beach (unit 215) is located at Sugar Beach resort - just five minutes by taxi from Christiansted, but a world away from the noise, bars and nightlife. It's peace and quiet with an ocean front. Our 400 feet of sandy beach front means lots of room for everyone to play, our large free-form swimming pool beckons, and of course there's also tennis on site.
Our unofficially onsite restaurant - Breeze's - is one of St. Croix most popular - and it's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just don't miss trying a Mongoose - it's one of the most refreshing tropical drinks I've ever enjoyed.
Theatre on the Beach isn't just fully furnished, it's professionally decorated to make your stay not just relaxing, but fun as well. It's just 6 steps up from the parking to our front door. Modern, comfortable, wonderfully decorated (Thea Alvin - our decorator and good friend - was featured in the November 2013 issue of 'O' magazine), with tons of extra amenities. (sigh - just describing it makes me what to visit!)
We've put in every appliance you can imagine, Gourmet kitchen utensils - upscale pots and pans - even Caribbean themed dishes are yours to enjoy. Even better, Theatre on the Beach has ceiling fans in every room - in additional to our central and super efficient AC system - not that you'll need it with the huge 30' private porch that gives you your amazing view of palm trees and ocean.

About Leslie Eiser
We wanted an island get-away forever - but most islands just didn't feel safe enough - that is until we set foot on St. Croix. This is the perfect island - it's US - and yet Caribbean. The ocean, the sun, the sand - all perfect - and yet there's a KMart, real grocery stores, even a Home Depot. You can visit a rain forest, a desert, and then the ocean. All within an hour. Perfect.
Leslie Eiser purchased this Condo in 2003
Why Leslie Eiser chose Estate Golden Rock
Sugar Beach is right on the ocean. Nothing between you and the water but 40 feet of sand - and 2 palm trees. Plus it's fast and easy to get to Christiansted - adorable city with tons of great restaurants. We are seriously fussy about food - and these are seriously good.
What makes this Condo unique
The View, the kitchen, the people, the place, the sun, the sea - it's all special. And we love it.

Idyllic week at Sugar Beach
Having never been to the Caribbean before, I feel like the person who finds a pearl in their first oyster by choosing Theatre on the Beach for my virgin trip to Virgin Islands. After studying the photos for months and months the moment we opened the door to our condo was a moment of unnecessary trepidation- everything was exactly as pictured and my long period of beach fantasy became a reality. The condo is spacious, immaculate, and chock full of every amenity imaginable. We stocked the fridge at nearby Food Town and loaded up a cooler (provided!) for our trips to the beach- only steps away. The office staff and groundskeepers are so hospitable, and the pool is spotless perfection. Tearing ourselves away from the Theatre was difficult but we did manage a few excursions- shopping in Christiansted (about 10 minutes away by rental car from Judi's), kayaking with Bush Tribe, and an amazing sunset cruise with the fun folks from Big Beards. Enjoyed one long and fancy dinner at Savant for my 40th birthday- a meal I will remember forever- and stopped by Angry Nate's twice in one day because we couldn't imagine finding a better spot for drinks & apps. But back to our home-away-from....
I can't say enough good things about the incredible view, easy beach access, comfy beds & sofa, the kitchen- oh my gosh the kitchen- and the luxurious bathrooms. We wanted for nothing and the only bad part was returning to the Midwest.
I absolutely fell in love with St. Croix and while islands abound in the area I would go back there in a heartbeat. It is very noncommercial, locals outweigh the tourists (at least in March!), and I felt completely comfortable and welcome everywhere we went.
Leslie's attention to detail prior to our trip was phenomenal. Being inexperienced with the area she swiftly and kindly answered any questions I had. Her excitement and love for the island is obvious and catching. The only thing better than a return to the Theatre would be a Crucian home of my own!
Overall I cannot recommend a trip to St. Croix enough- but please don't tell anyone else- I dearly hope the island remains a gem for people who value relaxation over hustle and bustle. If you want to set your watch to island time plan a trip forthwith- why not??
Oh you guys so got why St. Croix is so special! March is high season and locals still way out number the tourists. Where else can you find an English island so close by air from Miami that is so very perfect. I'm so glad you loved my home away from yucky weather. I'm looking forward to welcoming you again next year! Leslie
There is nothing better than this view.. nothing
85 degrees year round. Sun, Sand, Beach... Palm trees. Friendly faces, great kitchen, wonderful bathrooms, comfy beds, great sofa, great outdoor space, what’s not to love.
We stayed for 2 full weeks, never even turned on the AC. We had all the ceiling fans running, and those plus the natural breeze kept the entire space comfy.
While my friends and my husband toured the island from the Rain Forest and the Beer Drinking Pigs to Point Udal - the furthest Eastern point of the US - I just stayed put on the porch, enjoying the view, reading a book, and getting in some serious relaxing time.
Highlights - the St. Patties Day Parade, and going to Buck Island.. followed closely by beach time unending.
We shall be back next year.
Thank you for opening your beautiful condo
We were concerned with the status after two Cat 5 storms, but the Theater on the Beach came through just as pictured
The staff clean the beach every day, the pool is a bit chilly but very nice
There has been a lot of damage to the island, but repairs are happening.
Make a point of getting to point Udall, go through the fort. Be certain to eat at Balter and Zion modernist kitchen. And get to La Reine for the chicken (cash only!)
Don’t forget to stay left and look right!
Thank you so much for giving the Theatre - and the island - a green light after the two hurricanes! It was a massive clean up job - and I Share your impression. The island, the Theatre, and the Resort came thru with flying colors!! Leslie
Best Family Vacation Ever!
Beautiful, well kept, ocean-front, BEACH property! (some are oceanfront, but no beach). The owner/staff at Sugar Beach (Theater on the Beach, 215) were very helpful and responsive. It was an easy vacation from start to finish. Leslie (owner) emailed us prior to trip and gave us recommendations on car rentals/restaurants and things to do. We were met at the airport by the car rental company and off to Sugar Beach condos. Our keys were ready at the Main Office, and the condo was clean and ready to go. Well-stocked with EVERYTHING you need to hit the water! Snorkels/masks/fins for the 6 of us....also life jackets, kayaks, etc. During the day we'd make breakfast in the beautiful kitchen and hit the reefs out front of the property or drive to a new beach and explore.
There were many beach lounge chairs out front as well as hammocks, although we spent very little time lounging. We swam for at least a few hours every day, and saw thousands of beautiful fish all around the island. Kids even saw rays, sea turtles, and just about every type of tropical fish in the area. There was soft sea grass that floated up to the beach overnight, but the workers there raked it up in the morning and had removed it before we hit the water. It was very soft and much better than sea weed!
We did have a pretty good storm one night and lost electricity, but there were plenty of battery-operated candles to light the condo. We played board games with the kids in the candlelight until the power came back, and it's one of their favorite memories! There are SO MANY board games and we tried most of them. Our routine was, get up and eat, hit the beach both at Sugar beach and somewhere else on the island, snorkel/swim, come home and make dinner and then play board games until we were too tired to stay up.
We did see other sites around the island. Udall Point, Christenstad, Frederickstad, the rain forest, just about every beach and reef minus a few. While we were in those areas we might stop at a local restaurant.
The air-conditioning was as cold as you'd like it to be and the water-pressure was great in the showers. The washer and dryer were right in the front door. The kitchen is brand new and well-equipped. Lots of bath towels and beach towels. There literally isn't anything you need to get, unless you have a specific preference for something. Thanks for a great vacation! Running out of room, or I'd go on! Can't recommend highly enough!
Vacation in St. Croix
We stayed over Labor Day week and had a nice time. The condo is nice and close to everything. Our biggest disappointment was the beach . It is completely full of seaweed from one end to the other and their is no way you could swim in it all. The seaweed was never raked up on the beach during our entire stay. It would be nice if some beach chairs were provided since you have to travel to another beach on the island if you want to swim in the ocean. Then you have to pay to rent chairs.
Thanks so much for loving my home away from winter - I'm so glad it lived up to it's reputation. I am sorry that the beach wasn't pristine, I suspect that with Hurricane Irma on track for the island, the guys who clean the beach every day might have had their hands full making sure that all the hurricane shutters were closed and everything moveable was safely stowed. But I will communicate your concern with the folks at the resort. They really should make sure the Beach is perfect - and I have to say that generally they do a very good job.
As for beach chairs - Oh No! Where did they go? I always keep fold-able beach chairs in the Theatre - for exactly that reason - to take to other beaches! If you'd said something earlier - I'd have suggested that you buy some - and I'd pay you back. But I'm putting it on my shopping list - should definitely be chairs there. Generally under the granite kitchen counter where we keep the ice chests (for the same reason - to go to other beaches!)
That's a huge part of the fun of St. Croix - exploring all our beaches!
Great Condo in Beautiful Location!
We spent five nights and four days at Theater on the Beach and had a wonderful time. The condo was spacious enough for all of us (2 adults, 3 kids) and the view was simply stunning. The location was ideal - close to Christiansted and some great restaurants, as well as the Salt River, where we spent a morning kayaking. Leslie was so easy to work with and made sure to have plenty of information about St. Croix in the condo. We hated to leave!
Thanks you so much for loving my beloved island! I do think it's pretty perfect in every way - and I'm glad the Theatre worked out great for you and yours. Do come back. Leslie
