We wanted a home that would be fun for us to use as a couple, but we also knew that we wanted a place that would be ideal for family reunions for younger people. This place is simply perfect!
A few steps and you are on the 16th, 17th and 18th greens of the famous Harbourtown Golf Course, a major stop on the PGA tour. It is a five minute stroll to the Marina with its shops, restaurants and water sports/tours. It is a ten minute drive to the SeaPines Beach Club with five miles of pristine white sand on the Atlantic Ocean - BEAUTIFUL!
Weekly bike rentals nearby (they will give a discount if you mention you rented with us- "Riding Tigers Bikes" at 843-686-5833), for miles of biking on designated paved biking paths.
We had the pleasure of staying recently, our first trip to Hilton Head. We had a great time!! This unique house really is in the heart of Harbour Town. We enjoyed the beautiful lagoon and seeing the gators from the deck, we never felt threatened by them. It was hard to keep my son out of the pool. We did two different dolphin cruises and para-sailed. We easily walked to these events, which was great because parking can be hard to find at certain times of the day. We had a few minor issues but Dennis was very helpful and got our issues resolved quickly. We hope to come back someday. Thanks for letting us stay!
This was a perfect vacation home for our family (ages 8-84). We took the Gator Tour at the Forest
Preserve, but saw as much wildlife out back in and around the lagoon. The living areas including all the bedrooms were spacious and clean. We enjoyed the large private pool, gas grill, and convenience of a short walk to Harbor town, and longer bike ride to the beach. We feel very lucky to have found 9 Mizzenmast for our vacation home and would recommend it highly.
How delightful to find a pet-friendly home for our family Christmas gathering (3 couples, 2 children) with ample bedroom layouts, large living room, large outdoor deck facing a lagoon, and all within short walking distance to Harbor Town..perfect! The house is on a near-cul de sac making it great space for kid's light-saber duels, bike-with-training-wheels practice, and even yard tag. Daily walks to Harbor Town playground plus Greg Russell under the Oak Tree made the location a great choice, as well as being able to walk the golf course for morning exercise. The owners are most accommodating, even tracking down and mailing left-behind clothing...thanks, Dennis!
This was a wonderful vacation home for my family. The house was spacious and clean with a gorgeous swimming pool. There was so much wildlife about because of the location on the lagoon that we had the pleasure of many birds and nature sounds. Being so close to town meant we didn't have to use our car but could easily and safely stroll into town for great dining and shopping. We were also very close to both tennis and golf.. The four bedrooms were what we needed and they were lovely. All in all, this was a successful vacation for us at an excellent home away from home. My husband and I had our family reunion here and were so pleased with the accommodations. The house provided 8 adults with plenty of space, seating and privacy. The kitchen was fully equipped with all new appliances, granite countertops and ample dishes, glassware and utensils. It is a very light and spacious comfortable home. The outside was a wonderful place to view the wildlife. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim in the large pool but we enjoyed deck life as well as the indoor space.
The location is just a five minute walk to Harbortown where there are several good resturants with live music in the evenings. The Harbortown golf course is minutes away as is the tennis courts. There was very little use for a car as you are basically in the center of so much activities. We did drive to the beach club which has a wonderful view and a diverse menu.
The owners were so helpful that we all want to return for our next family reunion. They helped make this the best reunion . I would definitely recommend this property to family, friends and anyone going to Hilton Head for a vacation.
My husband and I recently spent just over two weeks here with our son, wife and two small grandchildren joining us for final week. Having been visiting Hilton Head from the UK on and off for over fifteen years, the first thing that struck us before even entering the house was it's perfect location to Harbour Town. The car was not necessary for the daily visits for coffee, the playground, local shops or a cocktail in the evening as it was such a lovely walk or bike ride.
The house itself immediately made us feel very comfortable and there was ample space for us to spread about. All the amenities were as described and the kitchen perfect. Due to the little ones we often ate at home and bbq'ed, sometimes visited by the resident alligator who kept his distance but fascinated the four year old, who can't wait to see it again.
The family also fell in love with the Beach Club which didn't exist last time we were here. It was wonderful with marvellous facilities for showering and changing, easily rented chairs and umbrellas and great restaurants and shops. We were even entertained by pods of dolphins cavorting very close to shore.
Being golfers we played a few rounds on the Sea Pines' courses and were grateful to be able to mention Dennis and receive a reduction!
Finally, speaking of the owners, we cannot praise them highly enough. They were extremely helpful, always prepared to go the extra mile. My husband spoke to Dennis several times and I think he feels he's found a new friend. As for me, I must mention Nathan, who cleaned the pool beautifully whilst having hilarious conversations with me, mimicking my accent - a true and valued character!
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and look forward to returning.
