Guestbook comments from the owner

I cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our visit in your lovely mountain home! It is more lovely than we could have imagined, and the internet does not do it justice. Our visit to Montana was more enjoyable than last time, and we did a lot more than three years ago. We contribute most of that to where we stayed! We rented a raft and floated down the Flathead, road horses at Many Glacier, hiked to Avalanche Falls and Hidden Lakes, went to Polebridge (one of our favorite places) twice, saw bears, a moose, eagles, ground squirrels, chipmunks, many many hummingbirds, beavers. I could go on and on!!

Excellent location with wonderful sunrises

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in October 2015 and the chalet was great. The location was very convenient to Glacier NP and restaurants in Columbia Falls. The chalet was very comfortable and the layout provided privacy for 2 couples. My only issue was with the beds. The beds were smallish and a bit uncomfortable.. but they were not the reason we stayed there. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting to visit Glacier NP or just wants to fish right out the front door.

If the purpose is to visit Glacier NP, this was a very bad time of the year. The Going to the Sun was closed on the east side ( you could enter from the west side but turned around at Logan Pass) and most of the park lodging and restaurants were also closed for the season, and, large number of business that rely on park visitors were also closed outside the park, especially on the east side.

The Glacier Chalet is a very nice cabin and located in a great location. I would like to return when all the park facilities are open.

Owner's Response: The Going to the Sun road closed the east side of the road early this year for construction but is usually open in the Fall. Many people who come in September and October do so because they enjoy the quieter season with less crowds and usually beautiful weather.

Glacier lover

Great cabin and location! This was a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated and equipped. We really enjoyed the location right on the Flathead River. It was easy to get to and from Glacier from the north entrance and a beautiful drive. We could sit on the deck in October and saw elk crossing the river in the mornings. The owner is great to work with.

Glacier Chalet was great

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated and equipped. We really enjoyed the location right on the Flathead River. It was nice to come back to the chalet after a day's visit to Glacier National Park. We could sit on the deck (admittedly, in mid-June, with a bit of mosquito repellent), eat dinner, and relax and watch the river and the occasional sightings of wildlife. Toward the Father's Day weekend, we did notice more rafting activity floating by on the river, but they were fairly quiet and fun to watch. There's not much else around here for entertainment except the peace and quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. The west entrance to Glacier National Park is a 15 minute drive away, some of it on an unpaved road. Columbia Falls (and grocery stores) is not very far away, and easy to get to via paved road. Owners were very helpful and accessible by phone. They also left other contact info in case we needed it (we never did). We've been recommending this place to others and would not hesitate to stay here again!

Perfect Montana Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Glacier Chalet was the perfect place to stay for our Montana vacation. Our daughter said that you can’t really call it a “cabin”, because it’s too nice! And Steve, the owner, was incredibly kind and thoughtful. We missed our connecting flight to Kalispell due to a delayed flight arriving in Portland, and this left our daughter stranded at Glacier Airport when her flight came in on time without us on it. Steve picked her up at the airport and drove her out to the chalet so she didn’t have to wait at the airport for six hours until our 1am arrival! He even offered to stop at the supermarket so she could pick up groceries!!! Just incredible!

The chalet itself is just a perfect vacation spot. Gorgeous river views, and thoughtfully and generously provisioned with everything you need. The kitchen had all the spices, pots and pans, knives and cooking equipment that my chef-like sister needed to prepare great meals for us. Everything was clean, comfortable and convenient.

Even the weather was perfect, the Going-to-the-Sun Road fully opened two days before we arrived, and we had a great time exploring Glacier National Park, which is just breathtakingly beautiful.

We lucked out all around. It was a great place and a great vacation.

Wonderful place, fully equipped, clean, very short drive to the park, excellent scenic views. Mom, Dad, Grandpa and two young adult grandchildren loved the place and the park. Very quiet area off the normal motel/ hotel routine.

Wonderful time had by all

We had a wonderful time. The house was clean and beautiful. You can't get a better view...between the river and the mountains, you have it all. Close to glacier for the park experience.
