Glacier Ridge Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Gorgeous Rocky Mt Lodge, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10) - Gourmet Kitchen

In Ski jargon, 'Black Diamonds' are the toughest ski runs for experts only-- but you won't need to be an expert to enjoy this Rocky Mountain Luxury Alpine Lodge! At 10,500 feet, it is nestled in the heart of South Park. Western Frontier meets Elegance in this Gracious home.

You'll find the BDAL rivals fine European Ski Lodges and provides High End amenities without the crowded tourist feeling and high prices you will find only 17 miles away in Summit County and Breckenridge. Completely avoid the I-70 weekend & holiday traffic jams by taking US Highway 285 practically right to the house-- it is a breathtaking 1.5 hour drive from either Denver or Colorado Springs. Convenient to major highways in snowy weather, (this is VERY important!) the BDAL is beautifully tucked into pine and aspen forests with huge views.

No tired, "dark cabin" with shabby furniture and small beds here, but 5800 sq ft of Custom Built Luxury overlooking the amazing Continental Divide - huge views of Fourteeners right out your windows or from the private hot tub! Perfect for entertaining the Gourmet kitchen - with Nespresso, Keurig and Cuisinart Coffee Machines, 4 large bedrooms (3 kings) and 3 large baths will easily accommodate 10. The Luxury Master Suite is an eye-popper-- see all the features below for it, there is a second king suite upstairs. The Vaulted Great Room with large log scissor-trusses and a stone-surround wood-burning stove create a Fabulous Resort Lodge experience. Plenty of wood available! The roomy exercise room upstairs has five large view windows and a Bose CD/Ipod sound system, spinning bike and elliptical trainer. Downstairs you'll find 2 more spacious bedrooms, one with a King Bed and the other with 2 sets of bunks (1 set memory foam full-size mattresses), and another large bath as well. The downstairs Great Room is a Great Entertainment area (Billiards, Foosball, Home Theater) to give you (and the kids!) room to spread out.

This 5 acre property has the remnants of a gold mine from the last century, the water there even has two schools of Rainbow Trout (just for looking--no fishing please--they are just getting established! There are several stocked fishing locations within 5 minutes' drive.) We've also cleared a Ski/Sledding run on the hillside behind the house! Sleds & helmets and snow shoes provided. Hands down one of the nicest rentals in South Park. You will find the BDAL to be an Elegant Retreat with a unique Rocky Mountain touch-- you'll want to come back again and again!

Things to do: ATVs are available to rent in the Fairplay area. You can also arrange horseback riding and white water rafting a short drive from the home. Biking is a big attraction in the summer. The Annual South Park Burro Race and street festival is very popular as well. In Feb each year, the Ice Sculptures in Breckenridge are truly spectacular.

We will accept Paypal, checks, Echeck and you can book online through the VRBO website. Credit cards are welcome.

About Teresa Lansford

We're a military family. After traveling the world, we chose to settle down in the high mountains of Colorado. We split our time between the Front Range and our mountain home to relax and play.

Teresa Lansford purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Teresa Lansford chose Colorado

This is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We enjoy the convenience of all the different kinds of mountain fun in our own front yard. While we are in the mountains, it only takes 2 mins to be on the hwy to Summit County. Your vehicle won't be stuck on a steep driveway during the snow months.

What makes this lodge unique

After a great day of skiing, skip the I-70 bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours to get home. We are in the middle of Fourteeners, gold medal fishing, biking, and hiking--God's country. Use the spotting scope in the great room to look for bears and elk and watch gold miners up on the Divide! Sledding Hill in backyard.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Teresa, thank you so much for the use of your home. It is the most amazing, beautiful place I've ever stayed. You are truly lucky to own such a piece of paradise.

Beautiful vacation home - will not disappoint

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property with top-notch amenities. We stayed mid-July with extended family and had a blast. Went into breckenridge several times, went fishing, made the 1 1/2 hr drive to pikes peak. The house is in a great location, really close to FairPlay for groceries and breakfast/lunch out if you don't feel like cooking and only about a 15-20 minute drive to breckenridge for a night out or shopping. The kids enjoyed all the summer activities on the ski slopes of breckenridge including kids rope course, slide, mini golf and zip lining to name a few. We were traveling with small kids so flew into Denver and rented a car. It was not a bad drive at all and very scenic. Would definitely recommend, especially for those trying to get a little reprieve from the summer heat like us! Weather was beautiful!

Amazing setup for family / friends rental

  • 5 of 5

Loved how all bedrooms had spacious king beds set up perfectly for a group of couples or families (one of the bedrooms has 2 sets of bunk beds for the kids). We went with a group of 8 people and had a great time. Spent time cooking in the spacious kitchen cooking our meals and lounging in the great room. Was a short drive from Breckenridge where we skiied two of the days.

Beautiful Home but....

  • 2 of 5

This is a beautiful home and perfect for any family with kids from the age of 0-17. We stayed with our five kids ranging in ages 1 - 15 and the house could not have been any better. There are a few things that future renters need to know about this home. First, it is about 20 miles to Breckenridge but not 20 minutes. It, on a good day, is at least 40-45 minutes and that is if the weather is cooperating and it involves going over hoosier pass. Second, the home is at about 10,500 feet above sea level so if there is anyone in your family that has a propensity to altitude sickness then you need to be aware of this. We have had skications every year and this is the only year that 3/7 family members had altitude sickness delaying our skiing for days. Third, the Owners have clearly been burned by previous renters and I completely understand their frustration. The problem is whether it is during the process of renting the home or actually staying at the home you feel like a teenager being scolded by a parent...and you always feel like you are being observed. There is at least one camera, a vivint home security system that notifies the owner for whatever receiving .... as a result be prepared to receive multiple text message reminders from the owners if you leave the garage door open for more than 10 minutes, etc. On our first day, the garage door would not close and the owners came up to repair the door which is completely acceptable. The problem is that the door was repaired in 45 minutes and yet the owners stayed for an additional two hours. Not a big deal but just weird and not very respectful of the guests that had paid a LOT of money to say 45 minutes from Breckenridge. There are notes/admonitions all over the house warning you of how to not be that guest. It is just a little too much. We have been good VRBO'rs for years and have always received our deposit back. Based on our experience, we are positive we will not see a dime of it in return. We left the house a day early in great shape...but who knows what we probably did wrong.

Owner's Response: This is our only review below five stars - with 47 five-star ratings - in over six years of VRBO rentals. Prospective guests, please read all our reviews!! As stated in the website, the home is at 10,500 feet. We routinely drive to Breckenridge in 20-25 minutes (see the next review), depending on the time of year. When temps dip to -10 or more, as they did during this stay, if the garage door is left open, water pipes in ceiling will be frozen. That is why the security system warned us after 30 minutes, as it is supposed to. We came up immediately when the renters called us that the garage door wasn't operating properly - a two hour drive each way - at that time we realized that the snow had drifted quite a bit. As a courtesy to the renters, we worked outside long enough to snowplow the entire drive and front porch area - nothing "weird" here, just trying to make their experience the best possible. The kitchen was left a disaster - 1/2" deep burned-on food and noodles on the stove, chair cushions left with large areas of food smeared on them, red juice spilled on the carpet, all with no attempt to clean up. Trash was left on the ground outdoors for animals to scatter - which is the first time that we noticed broken dishes from our kitchen. We went above and beyond to make this a wonderful stay for our guests but it's obvious that they didn't treat our home as their own - this mess tied for the worst in six years-- a VRBO owner's nightmare. As the review mentioned, there is a notice over the stove that housekeeping does charge extra for unusually difficult cleanup. This is only the second time in six years we have had to do so-- multiple ground-in food messes with no attempt to even wipe up. However, we only kept a portion of their deposit to pay housekeeping, not every "dime", although with the mess and damage it would have been appropriate to keep more.
