Experience Luxury in the Mountains! This Custom home is located in the forest with a year round creek in the back yard and offers all amenities and comforts of home. Some of the best times of year to travel to our beautiful mountain is the Fall and Winter months. We keep our calender current daily. Our home is available all year and there are many winter outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tubing, sledding etc.

This special home is located in a very secluded area where there are very few other summer homes, no traffic, creature noise only, year round Bailey Creek right in the back yard, the road dead ends, acres of private forest land right out the front door, beautiful clear skies where you feel like you can touch the stars, and this is NOT A SUBDIVISION

Thank you to all of our guests that have stayed at our home these past years and have made it possible for us to continue sharing our dreams with you in the future.

One of Frommers Top Destinations to Visit . This home is located just 8 minutes from the North Entrance to Lassen National Park.

This home is over 2000' with lots of room to relax and enjoy. One of our finest features of this home is that it has over 1200 sq ft of beautiful multi level redwood decks for all of your outdoor dining, relaxing, star gazing etc. We are located just under 4 hours from SF Bay area and 3 hours from Sacramento. The house is very unique in itself and we are sure that you will feel right at home with all of your needs met. No need to bring anything except your food, clothes, toiletries, and play gear, we supply the rest and much more!

PLUSH PILLOW TOP MATTRESSES, SCREENED GAZEBO AND 50 INCH FLAT SCREEN TV

If you have not had the opportunity to visit Lassen National Park, you are in for a treat. It is filled with lakes for swimming and fishing, hiking trails, creature watching and there are no crowds. The house is located in the forest and on a private lane with a year round creek with native trout and a small fishing pond right down the lane. There are very few homes in the area, this is not located in a subdivision and it is very secluded. The average temp. in the summer is 80's during the days and 50-60 nights. There are several wineries in the area, a small community of Shingletown is just 10 minutes away with restaurants, bank, gas, groceries, and shops. Famous Hat Creek is just 20 minutes away for all you Very Serious Fisherman. Other day trips would include SubWay Caves, Burney Falls, Lake Britton, Sundial Bridge. No matter what your looking for, it can all happen in this small tucked away community of Viola. The forest is right out the front door with many miles of exploring, hiking, ATV riding, mountain biking etc. The elevation is 4500' and we start to see the snow fall around mid December and it continues usually through March. There are many winter activities such as cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing and downhill skiing at nearby Mt. Shasta Ski and Board Park. You decide, we guarantee, you will not be disappointed with the house or the area.

Why The Owner chose Shasta Cascade

We have been very fortunate to be able to live up in this peaceful part of Northern California in the small community of Viola (pop 97). We re discovered this place about 12 years ago after having come up here as children many many years ago. We bought this property in 2005 when it was just a piece of land covered with lots of brush & fallen trees. We worked on the project since 2006 and finally completed the house in the Spring of 2008. It is our pleasure to share this special place with our friends, family and guests. We are sure that you will love it, just as we do! Your Friends and Hosts From Viola.... Rebecca & Bob Moore

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Comfortable and Private decks for your outdoor dining pleasure with gas fireplace & outdoor heater for those chilly nights.

Well maintained and at a great location.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was very comfortable, especially after each long day in the snow. We were allowed to take our medium sized dog with us for which we are very thankful. We enjoyed the kitchen amenities and put it to full use. The best part was the bread that welcomed us to the cabin!

Area GREAT but House Average

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Lovely Creek, Open space, Nice neighbors, lots of places to hike, Snow, skiing at Mt. Shasta in a day, LOVED Lassen Volcanic National Park

Cons: House~NO central heat when it's below freezing, Not dog friendly as they have too many rules for your pet when in the house (don't have your pet touch any carpet), Mattress tops and couch have sink holes, Dead animals hanging on walls (yes, I saw online but when there didn't like it), wastes water as they want you to leave water running when freezing out because the house has exposed water pipes under house not to building code that left us with a Christmas gift of frozen pipes Christmas morning!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments about the house. We would like to respond to your comments. In regard to areas and rules for pets, the house has many areas in the house that have hard floors suitable for dogs and permissible, the bedrooms have carpet and we ask our guests not to allow their dogs in these areas. We allow pets on the property for the guests convienence, the majority of our guests do not have pets and we respect that. The house is heated with a furnace in the open areas and heats all rooms very comfortably, the bedrooms all have space heaters. The house is located at 4500' elevation, and the last two weeks the weather was very cold , down in the low 20's., , please keep in mind that the whole country, had a cold snap. The pipes are all up to code and under the house and covered properly . We ask our guests to drip the water at night in order to prevent frozen pipes, which is very common in this area. It only takes a very slight drip to accomplish not having frozen pipes, not an abundance of wasted water . We do have a few throphy heads on the walls, which we show in the pictures, just part of the mountain cabin decor. We have several comfort levels of mattresses throughout the house from firm to soft to give guests their comfort options. Our pasts guests have always raved about the ambiance and comfort of our home.

Another perfect Christmas celebration!

  • 5 of 5

When my husband, children, and grandchildren decided to try to recreate our experience from last year and spend another Christmas celebration in the mountains, I was concerned that we would be disappointed. We weren't! Instead of the beautiful snow that we had last year, we had beautiful sunshine and the children were still able to go sledding at nearby Eskimo Hill. They loved coming home from playing in the snow to get in the large jetted tub! It was such a pleasure to arrive to a warm home, with a Christmas tree and the smell of warm bread! The loft was perfect for the children for sleeping, playing, and watching videos ( some that we brought and some that were already there). All of the beds were comfy with flannel sheets and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer to dry out mittens, etc. The large triangular window that looks out on the trees and the creek just added to the enjoyment of our stay. To top it off, when I discovered that I had left my cell phone, Rebecca put it in the mail for me. They go out of their way to assure that your stay is the best experience possible.

Wonderful property for our family; hosts were responsive and thorough

  • 5 of 5

Rebecca and Bob's home is a wonderful home away from home. Fully appointed making it possible to cook and relax in a very comfortable setting. Quiet, safe and such a treat to have a creek just beyond the house. The fresh bread and welcome sign were appreciated extra touches, and the 10 minute drive from the North end of the park made this an excellent location for our day trips to the park.

Great cabin minutes from Lassen national park

  • 5 of 5

Large, open floor plan. Well-stocked, modern kitchen. The cabin is new and in excellent condition. We kept the windows open at night and closed during the day and the house stayed very cool (even had to open the windows in the afternoon to warm up). The market in Shingletown is around 10 minutes away and has all the food basics, a small farmer's market, and gas station. Most Lassen park destinations are around a 30-45 minutes drive; the North Western park entrance is around a 10 minutes drive. Extremely quiet during the night with windows open; all we heard was the creek in the back.

Our only very minor complaint was that the lighting by the beds and in the living room is not great for reading. But we were usually too tired at night to read for very long anyways.

Thanks so much to the owners for a wonderful stay .

Lovely home near Lassen National Park.

  • 5 of 5

My family (3 sisters and 2 husbands) really enjoyed this home - it is near Lassen which was the reason for our visit, but this home made the vacation so much more relaxing. We cooked dinner at night and the spices and extras in the kitchen were very much appreciated. We loved arriving Friday night to freshly made bread. We appreciate the notes the owner left and the clear instructions about what to do when we left - no surprises! I highly recommend this place.
