This cozy cottage offers guests the opportunity to walk right down to Seapoint beach in two minutes time. Located on a private road, the cottage sits as a guest house on ocean front pastoral property. Originally built as a dairy for the working farm in 1880, the cottage took on new life as a guest cottage.
2000 sq. feet of living space provide plenty of room for 6 guests; one of the three bedrooms is located on the first floor. The downstairs bath has a tiled shower and sauna, while the upstairs bath has a clawfoot tub for relaxation.
First of all, a giant Thank You to the Lord family for allowing us to have our 3 dogs with us. That was so wonderful of them. We loved the location and the salt water pool.... and the ocean breezes in all the rooms. The owners also left a bottle of wine and a generous gift bag when we departed. So kind! On the accommodations side, things were a bit less than I expected, given the rental fee. The refrigerator needed a lot of cleaning upon arrival, the outdoor grill was dirty, doorknobs falling off in the downstairs bedroom, no stand up shower in the upstairs bath, poor outdoor lighting where you enter, a stove that we couldn't get to work properly, chairs in the sun room that weren't sturdy, the welcome/info book was sloppily done, and it had dated and hodgepodge decor and fixtures throughout. I would expect that at a cheaper rental, but not at the fee paid.
We loved the location and the kindness of the owners, but felt a bit let down.
The cottage was so charming and delightful, and was complete with everything you could need for a comfortable visit. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The cottage was so clean and the grounds immaculate and well-maintained. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and provided us with excellent customer service. I have recommended this vacation spot to several friends and relatives, and would love to visit again.
Searose cottage is situated on beautiful Seapoint Beach. The views are spectacular with the Isles of Shoals and rocky Maine coastline right outside your window. The cottage is quaint, but spacious and tastefully decorated like a French country house. It is well-equipped and includes a sauna. We stayed in the off-season and took advantage of daily walks on the beach. Kittery Point is a fabulous seaside town with scenic vistas, & lighthouses It is a great place to relax with the family or as a couples get away. The restaurants are exceptional and the location is very close to attractions and great restaurants both in Kittery and Portsmouth. We had great dining experiences at Anneke Jans, Black Birch and AJ's for wood grilled pizza. We highly recommend Searose Cottage. The owner Nancy was great
and very responsive to our requests. She has created a great sanctuary and unique experience.
We spent the off season at Sea Rose Cottage and found it to be everything we had hoped for: retreat, muse, and oasis. No matter when you're planning your stay, the location is superb: just a stone's throw from Seapoint Beach, with a breathtaking view of the open Atlantic with its shifting tides, seabreezes, gulls’ cries, lobsterboats plying, glorious sunrises, and sunsets reflected on evening clouds. Yet only minutes from great restaurants, shopping, and culture - if you can tear yourself away.
The cottage is fully and delightfully furnished…just bring your clothes, camera, and journal (there are some great reads already on the shelves). Nancy has thought of all the little things to make your stay comfortable, from fine linens to a well-equipped kitchen, from cozy bedding to beach chairs to outdoor grills.
We spent the majority of our time in the sunroom, with its beautiful natural light and commanding view of the ocean. Step out the sliders to the stone patio with Adirondack chairs for lounging, surrounded by the owner's beautiful perennial gardens. The smell of roses and the sea perfumes the air, and you are serenaded by songbirds and the lull (or crash) of waves on the berm.
Our family's time here was incredibly peaceful and restorative. We can't recommend it - or the gracious owner, Nancy - highly enough. You won't want to leave (we sure didn't). - The Fraziers
