A beach-lover since childhood, it was my dream to own a special home in this exceptional small beach town- Wrightsville Beach - near the historic city of Wilmington for urban adventures. I am a professional designer. I detailed and furnished the home so that it would welcome and comfort visiting friends and family, and now I am offering it to you for your use as well.
Carol Ann Zinn purchased this house in 2006
Best non-oceanfront location in Wrightsville Beach, on Sunset Lagoon, two block walk to ocean. In a quiet safe residential neighborhood. Wake up to the sun rising off the ocean and enjoy your morning beverage while overlooking the peaceful lagoon from one of our 3 private decks (two are covered).
Use of 30 foot dock in deep water lagoon, near Banks Channel and IntraCoastal Waterway. Swim off the dock using retractable ladder. Use our bikes or walk to downtown Wrightsville Beach. Bring your kayak or canoe or paddle board (or use our 2 kayaks and paddle board) to explore the nearby channels and marshes. Cook's kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolfe appliances. Designer tile detailing and plumbing fixtures in spacious bathrooms. Master bedroom suite with deck overlooking lagoon, vistas of ocean, steam shower. Plasma TV's in three locations, other TV's in individual bedrooms. Ping Pong. Beach cart. In off-season, you will love our upscale interior setting.
Hey there and yes we had a wonderful time @ your place. We had just come off a very stressful weekend and being @ The Sanctuary was just the medicine. Your house is beautiful!
The home is beautiful, well appointed with great amenities and spectacular views. Perfect location just across from the beach on the bay with views of sunrise and sunsets. Owner clearly takes pride in every detail to provide convenience, comfort and custom surroundings in this home. We had a great time with our family of 10 staying there to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UNCW. Thank you.
The Sanctuary offers many opportunities for the vacationer who seeks adventure or simply wants to unwind with every creature comfort imagiable. I have had the pleasue to vacation here several times with family and friends and each time I am reminded on why I keep coming back. The home itself is amazing. The attention to detail and quality appointments throughout the home are incredible. The kitchen /living area, my favorite room in the house, is outfitted with upscale pieces of equipment that you would find in a fine dining restaurant or kitchen. The decks overlooking the peaceful lagoon are the perfect spot for evening meals and lots of conversations and laughs long into the nights. The location of The Sanctuary offers many options for day adventures. A short walk to the beach and crystal clear waters, kayaking and paddle boarding the waterways from the lagoon , or biking the barrier island are all at your finger tips. The true testament to The Sanctuary is my family always asks, "when will we be back?". I always answer, soon!
Our family of 14 stayed at "The Sanctuary" for a family wedding. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful "home" to enjoy each other and celebrate our nephews wedding. Location to beach, wonderful restaurants, peaceful area to walk, bike and evenings on the porches were fabulous. I would return again and would recommend to anyone who is visiting the area. Wilmington was also only 20 minutes away. We also enjoyed the tour of the battleship North Carolina and restaurants in Wilmington.
We spent a week at The Sanctuary in late October-early November, several generations gathering together to celebrate our parents’ anniversary. Of course it was a special time, made even more special by this amazing home. It’s very spacious, very well-equipped, very beautiful (better than the photos). The beach is very close, and the lagoon is so calming and so much fun for swimming- as it’s warmer than the ocean! The owner goes out of her way to insure a great vacation. We have rented several times in Wrightsville, and this home was the best yet.
We have a wonderful group of friends that travel somewhere to meet for a New Years get together and we have been doing this for thirty plus years. We are all (but one) in our sixties now and the “partying” is rather subdued. So, to welcome in 2016, we rented a VRBO at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Our first impression was fine but it was not exactly pristine.
Our first surprise was everyone having to put the sheets and pillowcases on your bed. My wife had to review several pillows to find one clean enough to case. We were rationed wash clothes and towels to one set per person for a stay of several days. The kitchen sink was just plain dirty. We went to the store to buy soap and toilet paper to last the four nights. The “rules” were more rigid than any VRBO that we have ever rented over the years.
Now comes February waiting for our whopping security deposit to be returned to find that $$$ was withheld for extra cleaning in addition to the charged cleaning fee??? The accusation was made that we dirtied up the floors, woodwork, and cabinets. The real kicker was the $$$ charge for a pillowcase. Renters be aware of this little scam!
Once I rented “The Sanctuary”, I never considered renting another beach home. I have been back several times, and it keeps getting better.
This is the first home I rented on a lagoon and found that I prefer it to the ocean side. It is so pleasant sitting on one of the decks in this peaceful setting and looking at the water view. It is delightful swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding there.
The owner takes pride in her property. It is always immaculate, and everything is in working condition. The house itself is impressive, beautifully furnished and equipped with anything you may need. There is also a nice division of space for those that have multiple or big families, with bedrooms on three floors and a large extra family room on the second.
This year I discovered my new favorite spot; sitting on the covered gazebo above the lagoon where there’s a nice breeze and having my morning coffee and reading. I am already looking forward to next summer at "The Sanctuary”!
Swim or paddle board off our dock in the calm salt-water lagoon! Use one of our two kayaks for water fun, including exploring the nearby marshes, from our dock.
