EaglePine- A retreat setting with a unique, fully equipped cedar cabin on 6 acres nestled in the woods of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Offering the ultimate in privacy with 600ft of sandy Long Lk, private peninsula, southern exposure, sunrises & sunsets, boats, fire pits, horseshoes, & bikes. Located well off the main road, tucked between 10 acre parcels assures safety & quietude. The path leading to the water (350 ft) meanders over boardwalks and soft mulch through a wildlife corridor. The lakeshore is ideal for children-- the sand is hard-packed & water shallow. The cottage is not bare-bones stripped of its character for renters. We bring the outdoors in with deer mounts, moose antlers, pelts, & local artwork. The screened porch is perfect to read in a wicker chair, play cards at the table or just listen to the hummingbirds. We include other creature comforts such as comfy beds, modern appliances, satellite, on-demand hot water, and a wood stove for cool summer evenings.
A wonderful retreat cottage. Very private, secluded, in the deep woods yet on an all sports lake. Quiet. Abundant animal life. Direct access to 35 sqare miles of Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat'l Lakeshore Forest.
Very comfortable, cedar wood, family cottage. Clean, updated, tucked into the forest, with a very large sandy beach.
My family of 5 (myself, husband, daughter 6, and twins 2) recently stayed at EaglePine for a week. It was great! The location of the cabin is perfect. You are 20 minutes to Glen Arbor, 45 minutes to Leland and 10 minutes from Sleepy Bear Dunes. Where the Platte River meets Lake Michigan is 5 minutes away. Lots of spots to kayak, go tubing and paddle boarding. The Platte River was warm and the water clear. On the Lake Michigan side the sand was beautiful and the water refreshing! EaglePine cabin was perfect for my young family. The lake the cabin is on was shallow, warm, quiet, and had all the things we needed; kayaks, paddle board, boat, life jackets, sand toys. The cabin was so comfortable. It had all of the comforts of home and plenty of space. The cabin is private and tranquil. We loved roasting marshmallows and swinging on the swings! The only downside was the mosquitos. We can't thank the owners enough for allowing our dog to come as well! He is old,12, and doesn't do well in a kennel. It was a must for us to find a cabin that accepted pets! He had the best time!
We enjoyed the amenities and privacy of the house and the great location to many activities in the area. Nestled in the woods it is a great place to get away and enjoy nature.
Everything about this wonderful property - from the quiet location to the private beach - reflects tranquility. The description of the property is accurate and the pictures are up-to-date. I look forward to spending much more vacation time here in the future and I thank you for such terrific hospitality.
I've been coming to this area for 40-some years and EaglePine has the perfect location. Long Lake is serene and filled with wildlife. Though secluded in the woods, EaglePine is only a quick walk to the north shore where you can bask in the morning light and watch the beautiful Michigan sun go down.
The property has everything you need and for those few housekeeping items they don't the Owner's do an excellent job of communicating to you ahead of your arrival.
The feeling you get when you stay here is exactly what you hope for for a family vacation. The place is obviously well loved and enjoyed by the Owners. It's perfect place for a young family to run around and explore. Our baby turned 20 mos during our stay and he learned so many new words during our week. Each morning he would get his shoes and say 'hike big water' and head to the door. He loved the path and boardwalk to the beach and trying the kayaks and sand toys and collecting sticks to make a fort like the boys had. His room was cozy and filled with woodland friends (stuffed animals) to keep him company at night. The loft area game room had enough new things to explore that it kept him busy everyday. We didn't need to pack any toys.
My husband and I enjoyed the horse shoes, hammock, fire pit and tiered deck (and I enjoyed the outdoor shower).
When we wanted to get out for the day for a hike at the Old Indian Trail, groceries in Frankfort or run up to Sleeping Bear dunes it was an easy quick drive.
EaglePine is obviously a wonderful place for young families but my husband and I kept saying how romantic it would be to come here again as a couple. There really is something for everyone here.
The rental rate is a wonderful value when you consider the amenities, location and the positive experience of dealing with the Owners.
We hope so much to be back. As I write this in mid-September, I'm not surprised to see they are already filling dates for next summer.
You won't be disappointed.
This clean, modern but still classic cabin is a true delight! Located on five beautiful wooded acres with a short stroll through the pines and oaks to small and peaceful Long Lake. Grab a book and a glass of wine and relax on the deck, hammock or beach. Let the kids swim, play and run through the woods and discover the beauty and wonders of the forest. Watch for deer at dusk then head to the lake for a fire and wait for the stars to come out. We especially enjoyed heading to the lake just before sundown when the golden sun shines through the pines creating a magical passage way. Enjoy a great meal at the Manitou Grill less than a mile from the cabin. There is a great hike to Lake Michigan at Indian Hill trail just south of the cabin on M-22. The cabin is located at the south end of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park so there are some great hikes, skiing trails and family activities close-by. Frankfort and Elberta are just 15 minutes south and Empire and Glen Arbor about 20-25 minutes north. Kids, dogs and adults will all enjoy this beautiful cabin in the woods. A true Up North treasure. Thanks for sharing!
Very quiet wooded lot. Short walk to the lake. Great lake for canoeing and kayaking. The house is clean and the floor plan is great for families. Just a 15 minute drive to Frankfort for good food and shops.
