About Debbie Buchanan

Home Profile:

I have lived on this property for 26 years. This home along with its beautiful perennial gardens, and creek are magical, and should be shared. I now devote all my time and attention to this lovely home. One of my passions is as a pastry chef, no longer full time, but still bake ,when not preparing for house guests.

I enjoy the whole process of preparing for the arrival of a new family, ensuring that the home exceeds all expectations.

Debbie Buchanan purchased this house in 1991

Why Debbie Buchanan chose Maryland

There are a thousand tributaries to the Cheasapeake Bay, this one little slice of heaven was little known, but has gained some notoriety several years back, when LL Bean chose it as one of its only 2 spots for their popular Discovery kayak learning trips. Local Annapolis Author in his book ' Open Spaces, Sacred Places' features our exact location on page 23. Across the creek is acreage , expressly left as a nature preserve. The only thing you will see , as you wiling away the hours , are very grateful critters, and some boaters.

What makes this house unique

The expansive windows in every room, face east, so you enjoy the sunrise as well as the beauty of the moon on the creek , from the master suite as well as other perfect spots. One of the greatest attributes of this property is its beauty and peaceful, quiet surroundings.

Additionally, the homeowner is available to help with set up table decor for dinner parties -rehearsal dinners, flower arrangement for tables, rentals essentially anything you need to assist in making your party, brunch or small event a success-

Guestbook comments from the owner

Debbie,

The house was ideal and impressed so many people. I think I must have given more than a dozen tours of all the rooms and suites in the house and everyone was in awe. Thanks again for the great house.

Five Stars in every way!!

  • 5 of 5

We are 10 active cousins all over 65, some well over, from the East Coast -FL to NY. Since the late 80's we have been renting a house for a week every other year in different places through out this country.... All week everyone kept saying they "loved this home". Debbie was an absolute joy to work with... I asked in passing if there were any poker chips among the games and puzzles... next day Poker Chips as well as THE BEST hot-out-of-the-oven muffins arrived... which were devoured instantly... and the poker chips used every night.

Five Stars in every way. Debbie has created an enviorment of luxurious comfort and livability...from the exquisite decorating to the amazingly comfortable beds, (robes and slippers included) she has not left out any Five Star Hotel amemities.

As a professional Baker the kitchen is equipped with restaurant quality everything. There is plenty of room for everyone to make their own breakfast, our group made use of all THREE coffee makers...

ON THE Water views and a "Better Homes and Garden" Garden skilfully cared for is all part of the package... beautiful.

Location is perfect, we took advantage of the easy metro access to DC, drivable Baltimore and the treasures of Annnapolis minutes away, returning to our comfortable hidaway...

We highly recommend this property, Debbie and Gepetto who are always improving on the experience and are only a phone call away...

It doesn't get any better than this..

Definitely 5 STARS !!!

  • 5 of 5

After our first stay in 2013, our family of 11, now with grandkids ranging in age from 19-14, were anxious to return to Annapolis and the Yellow House for another memorable family vacation which were able to do this month. The house which is beautiful, spacious, and accommodating, in addition to Debbie's warm, welcoming hospitality, again, contributed to wonderful family vacation memories. With the house being located on Black Walnut Creek, and Debbie providing kayaks and paddleboards, it allowed for fun times on the water. This along with access to Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. only adds to our vacation memories.

We look forward to returning in the near future for another fun, memorable family gathering!!

More than a 5!!!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this property and Debbie!! The home was beautifully decorated, well-maintained- perfectly comfortable in every way! We used the property for our daughter's wedding weekend; Debbie was available to answer questions, and went well beyond the expected to help us make it a memorable time for all. The lawn was beautifully landscaped- perfect for relaxing! The proximity to all things Annapolis was a huge plus as well. I would certainly recommend this property to family and friends.

Debbie is the 6th Star

  • 5 of 5

"Gorgeous Southern Colonial on the water in Annapolis" is the inadequate description of this stunning home. It falls way short of conveying the, comfort, serenity spaciousness, convenience, and accommodating hostess.

Our family of 12, consisting of 10 adults and 2 children, found their bed comfortable and slept well from the first evening. Each room was smartly appointed with wonderful homey touches.

In the morning, on the main floor deck, of which there were two other decks, invited us to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the view of the water, its sounds, and a peacefulness that lowers the blood pressure.

The home is spacious enough to accommodate our family and yet afford the opportunity for private space. Two suites each include a full kitchen. The main kitchen is well stocked and large enough for us to sit comfortably for our meals. No crowding here.

Talk about convenient. Walk a few blocks and you're at the beach. Need to go to stores, they are five minutes away. Want to play a board game, they are provided as well as numerous CDs and DVDs.

Debbie is very special. She is one of the most accommodating hostesses we have experienced (we stay in B & Bs almost exclusively when traveling). She connected us to a sensational sunset cruise. She helped in every way possible to make our stay memorable and certainly succeeded. The best way we can convey Debbie's involvement is to say, "she treated us like family."

We all walked away sad that the stay ended but joyful for having this glorious experience. We felt we found a rare gem.

Exceptional Property!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 days while in Annapolis for our sons wedding which was on July 2nd, 2016. This home is simply perfect in every way. Spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. The owner went ABOVE AND BEYOND in assisting us with some wedding details we needed help with. She clearly loves not only this house but she enjoys the hospitality business and it shows in every last detail. Plenty of space for a large group plus space to retreat for those who retire early. The porches....this is pretty much where we lived...coffee in the morning with a peaceful water view, watching a red fox poke around the fabulous gardens, plus herons and ospreys flying past - beyond beautiful. Sitting on the dock in the evening with our feet in the water with a glass of wine. Perfect. We ate most meals in, and the main kitchen is equipped with anything you could possibly need. Location is fabulous - minutes from historic Annapolis and just a couple of minutes to the grocery store. Spacious bedrooms with super comfy beds, great bedding, bathrooms stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries... We made use of the bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. We would stay here again for sure, wishing we could have stayed longer! A gracious owner, a spectacular home and all in all a perfect visit to Annapolis.

Outstanding

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this beautiful home with our family for our sons wedding at the Naval Academy. There were 11 adults and 5 children ages 4 and under. It perfectly fit my husband and I and our 4 adult children, spouses and grandchildren. Everyone had plenty of private space and every bedroom/bed was heavenly. All the amenities, supplies, appliances, games, outdoor equipment, views, spaces, location and Debbie's most wonderful warm and welcoming hospitality were more then we imagined. The weather that week was beautiful and sunny the entire time which provided for some fun on the water, paddle boarding and kayaking. Beautiful location for wedding photo's. We had a catered breakfast the day after the wedding at the house with additional guests. Debbie's recommendation for Kens Creative Kitchen was wonderful. They had plenty of room to work and display the food in the main kitchen and the food was fantastic and delicious. There just isn't one negative thing to say. Our entire family had an amazing time that week and loved the house very much. Thank you Debbie for providing a beautiful home with every comfort and convenience that made our vacation and stay a week to remember with fun, joy and happiness. We will definitely be back.
