About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners

This photo is of the owners, hiking in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon. We love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore!

Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Utah

We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. We finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah, and you will love our cozy and friendly cabin in Duck Creek.

What makes this cabin unique

There is something magical about this cabin. So many of our guests - and we ourselves - have said that the minute you walk into our cabin, you can feel it. Instant relaxation comes over you! And a feeling of warmth and coziness and welcome. Come experience it yourselves!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had SUCH a wonderful time here in your cabin. After a week here, we are really sad to leave. We enjoyed several day trips to the surrounding areas, and the cabin proved a cozy and comfortable spot to come back to. We loved the winter snow, and have already been talking about a return trip here in the summer to do more hiking. We cannot thank you enough for your friendliness nd hospitality! This last seven days were AMAZING!

Cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely, cozy cabin! We had a great time here, and the owner is super friendly. Being roughly equidistant from Bryce and Zion made is easy to explore both parks. As a bonus, it was nice to have simple things like salt and pepper, soap and toilet paper provided. We loved the cabin!

Cozy, welcoming, and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful cabin in the winter over New Years. We spent a week and it just wasn't long enough. I cannot say enough great things about this place. It was just absolutely amazing!! I was apprehensive to book at first and had a lot of questions but Jan the owner was such a delight. She quickly responded to all of my emails and answered all of my questions before booking. When we arrived at the cabin we were in awe of how beautiful it was. It exceeded all of our expectations. The cabin its self was cozy, CLEAN, and had everything we needed! We enjoyed being able to cook, relax by the fire, and enjoy the beauty surrounding the cabin. We loved the location as we were able to take day trips to surrounding areas (Thanks to Jan sending us info and directions to beautiful sites in Utah) we had never visited Utah before so we where grateful to Jan sending us information on more than just Bryce and Zion (Both breath taking) Also the cabin had a little corner self with guides and maps so we were explore each day we where there doing something new. We were sad to leave and look forward to going back!! If you are thinking of staying at this cozy cabin please DO IT!!!!!! You will not regret it!!

This area is wonderful in summer, and in the fall (my favorite time) too. Thanks again for staying at our cozy cabin! Happy Spring! Jan

Great cabin! Cozy in the winter :)

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! My family will absolutely return. All we needed was available to us. Plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, blankets (comfortable pillows), cooking basics, restroom amenities and of course plenty of snow! What a great and peaceful place. We arrived during a little snow storm and Jan made to sure keep us on the safest route up. Our family had the best time, and enjoyed all that nature had to offer that weekend. What a great way to reset from life. The family takes wonderful care of the cabin and it shows. Book here you will not regret it!

So sad we had to leave!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to visit Bryce and Zion, I really cannot imagine there is a better place to stay. With so many great reviews, it's tempting to not bother with writing another but Jim and Jan are deserving of every kind word and all should know. We had everything we needed and stayed in complete comfort in a beautifully decorated, super cozy cabin. If only we could have packed the couches and taken them home with us. Jan is very responsive and helpful in trip planning and shares a wealth of wonderful recommendations. We enjoyed many of them. The cabin's guide books also proved very useful, giving us confidence to find and try a less trodden trail not originally in our plans. I long to return to the beautiful state of Utah. If I am ever afforded the chance, I'd certainly stay here again. We visited so many amazing places (Cedar Breaks, Bryce, Zion, North Rim, Kodochrome, Red Canyon, Paria Canyon, St. George) and so enjoyed having one place to call home. Many thanks for a memorable family vacation.

I could live there...

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place between Zion and Bryce, and this was a great location! We stayed 8 nights and could of stayed 8 more. We The cabins has a great homey feel to it and the owners have thought of every detail in both their instructions prior to arrival and everything being labeled at the cabin. AWD vehicle is needed and their "winter" goes at least through April, we got snow flurries and some accumulation while there.
