About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners

This photo is of the owners, hiking in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon. We love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore!

Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Utah

We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. We finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah, and you will love our cozy and friendly cabin in Duck Creek.

What makes this cabin unique

There is something magical about this cabin. So many of our guests - and we ourselves - have said that the minute you walk into our cabin, you can feel it. Instant relaxation comes over you! And a feeling of warmth and coziness and welcome. Come experience it yourselves!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had SUCH a wonderful time here in your cabin. After a week here, we are really sad to leave. We enjoyed several day trips to the surrounding areas, and the cabin proved a cozy and comfortable spot to come back to. We loved the winter snow, and have already been talking about a return trip here in the summer to do more hiking. We cannot thank you enough for your friendliness nd hospitality! This last seven days were AMAZING!

The tail of two dogs in a lovely cabin in beautiful Utah.

  • 5 of 5

What a charming place to stay for a week with two vacation-loving labs and my husband!! The cabin is located high up on a mountain in the beautiful area of Duck Creek Village, Utah. The cabin was more than adequate for all of our needs with many "extras". This included a huge deck for an evening glass of wine where we enjoyed the birds, wildlife and scenery. The deck is even gated off so that our dogs could be out in the sunshine and we didn't have to worry about them running off. This is in a perfect location between Cedar City (where we enjoyed the Shakespeare Festival), Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary . . . which was a great place to visit if you are an animal lover. Thank you Jan for providing such a nice place to stay!!!

Perfect retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our family of four. Easy access to all of the parks and was a comfort to come back to each evening. The cabin was well appointed with lots of amenities. Owners left wonderful advice and tips on hiking, dining and shopping options locally and near parks. Would love to come back again. We had a wonderful time and built lots of good memories here.

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was the perfect retreat from our busy lives in California. It was cozy, very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The kids loved seeing deer right from the porch. Perfect distance to explore Bryce Canyon and Zion. A highlight of our trip was renting a UTV and exploring the trails around Duck Creek. You can rent these from 2 places in the village. Everyone in Duck Creek Village was warm and friendly too. The owner of the cabin was also really helpful and easy to work with. We would certainly come again!

Cozy comfortable cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin; it was a great halfway point between Zion and Bryce national parks. We enjoyed seeing wildlife and had a deer come right up to our cabin while we were there and also saw some on our walks. Our kids had a blast at the cabin!

Relaxing mountain retreat near Zion and Bryce

  • 5 of 5

We felt immediately welcome and at home at the cabin. It was close to many activities, but was quiet and far from the hustle and bustle.
