Bring the whole family and your friends to this bright and spacious beach-style-decor house for a true Maine coast vacation. Nestled in this small and quaint coastal village of Biddeford Pool, this beach style house has been creating memories for families for many decades. The house is a three minute walk to the water and beach.
Built in 1925, this stoic, typically classic Maine exterior shingled house is the perfect getaway for you and your family and friends. Lots of light, and cheerfully decorated, this house has history! It was used to house soldiers during World War II with the adjacent house being the mess hall.
There is plenty of room for your family to spread out with a main dining and living room, large eat in kitchen with bar stools and counter. A large, newly-refurbished deck off of the kitchen and Living room offers a great outdoor room for breakfast, lunch or cocktails, or grilling on the gas grill while your children play in the yard. Several TV's and separate kids rooms, and Wi-Fi offer a variety of activities for the whole group. This house has conveniences, and amenities without being fancy. This house is lived in, and has been enjoyed by families for generations for many summers!
Only a three minutes' walk to the nearby two-mile-long sandy beach, Audubon trail, and rocky South Point Coast. Plenty of bathrooms and the additional outdoor shower provide the perfect set up for a group. Order your fresh steamed lobsters and clams from our nearby Lobster Pound, or grill hamburgers outside and eat on the outside deck or large dining room table which seats up to 12.
Spend your days sightseeing, or soak up the sun at the beautiful pristine beach with your family, bring your sea kayaks or rent them at the nearby shop. Enjoy the beautiful outdoors that the southern Maine coast has to offer.
Just a 45 minute drive to Freeport's LL Bean and outlets, only a 15 minute drive to Kennebunport shops, spas and dining, and 25 minute drive to The Old Port in Portland where you will find shops, gourmet food, and activities for the whole family. 20 minute drive to amusement park Old Orchard Beach, putt-putt golf and public golf courses. Take the Amtrak train from nearby Saco (15 min drive) to Boston Garden, or Fenway park for a Red Sox game.
Go fishing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, golfing, or play tennis at nearby public places and take in the beautiful Maine coast scenery, or curl up by the fire with a great book. This house provides many rooms for privacy, large living room, kids TV room, sun porch, outdoor deck and three floors of space. Perfect house for a group, and cozy enough for three couples. Come and enjoy our favorite place in the sun!

Great House, perfect for extended family, grown ups, kids. Great place to ride bikes. We will rent here again.
Me and my long time friends had the pleasure of spending the fourth of July weekend and we could not have had a better time. The house is much much bigger than we had anticipated so people could have their own space whenever they wanted but also be all together in one of the family rooms or back deck. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is an older house as described but it is very well maintained and has a lot of character which we all liked. The house was stocked with everything we needed to make our stay relaxing and carefree.
The area is also such a beautiful place. It seems like a very safe and tight knit community. We went to the beach everyday which is maybe a 5 minute and even on a holiday weekend the beach area was pretty empty. We also walked down to the bluffs at the end of the road which is a 2 minute walk to catch the sunset or stargaze. I would highly recommend both.
We hope to be back to the Barracks soon as this house allowed us for an unforgettable weekend.
This was the most lovely vacation home for a large family. There were 7 adults and 5 teen children in our group. The house was warm, comfortable and allowed spaces for everyone. The beach was close by, and the teens and a couple of parents Kayaked down in the Pool. Location was perfect as well and be sure and pick up some local lobster, it was the best we have ever had. The large fenced in back yard off of the deck was ideal as we also had 2 dogs with us. As my youngest granddaughter said, "this was the best vacation, EVER"
Nice home. Very spacious. Great for family reunion. Liked the location.
Wonderful house and area - plenty of room for our large extended 3 generation family - heartily recommend it!!!!!!!!!! Lobsters from nearby store were superb - even cooked and cracked.
This property is located in a lovely residential area just a short walk to the ocean. Only steps away is a rocky coastline where both our dog and our grandson enjoyed exploring the tidal pools. A bit further down is a sandy beach where the adults enjoyed sunbathing. Right nearby is access to a gorgeous Audubon trail that travels along the coast with breathtaking views of a lighthouse and ocean front properties. Our family really enjoyed these early morning walks. The property is also conveniently located to Kennebunk and its offerings of tasty restaurants, we especially like 50 Local. And if anyone feels like staying in for dinner, the general store nearby offers a well-prepared menu of take-out options. The house itself is clean and well-appointed, but clearly loved and lived-in. Because our group included a toddler and our dog, we found the deck and fenced-in yard to be a real plus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, cheery home! My family and I couldn’t have been more pleased with our selection of vacation spots - this house is every bit as attractive as the pictures, and the window boxes were amazing! I have to admit that I was a little worried about having all twelve of us under one roof, but there was more than enough room to keep everyone happy (the grandchildren loved having their own TV room!). The dining room easily accommodated our large group allowing us to enjoy family dinners together which will be remembered for a long time. We loved having breakfast on the sunny deck in the morning, and relaxing with a good book (and maybe a little snooze) on the daybed in the late afternoon. I asked the grandchildren what they liked most about their trip and they said “climbing on the rocks at the end of our street, building sandcastles on the big, sandy beach, and taking showers in the cool outdoor shower!” We hope to be able to call this special place “home” again each and every summer, provided the owners will have us back!
Steps away from one of the Greatest Bird Watching spots in North America, great place for biking.
