The Bird Cage is a breezy and bright studio giving you clear views of the Koolau Mountains. With historic Waikiki Beach just outside the hotel lobby, the Bird Cage is the perfect home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu.
Double paned sliding glass windows greatly minimize the urban sounds of Waikiki, but let a lot of light in. An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.
One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Brid Cage.
Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Bird Cage has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.
The Bird Cage is at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

Born and raised in Honolulu, I currently live on the Mainland, but spend a lot of time in Hawaii. I have worked in the travel industry for over 35 years and have explored numerous countries around the world. I can relate to what travelers are looking for in a vacation rental because I'm looking for the same things - cleanliness, location and value.
Kevin Lum purchased this condo in 2003
I grew up in Honolulu and spent a lot of time playing at the beach and on the sea wall that is less than 30 steps from the condo. Kapiolani Park was a place for family gatherings, concerts at the Shell, and of course the Zoo. Waikiki was a lot slower and quieter when I was a kid, but even today I think visitors will still find it to be a special place. If you walk down to the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Avenue - it's still like it was in the old days.

While being at the 'end' of Waikiki might sound like you are away from all the action, that just isn't the case. Everything Waikiki has to offer is just a short walk away, but you don't have to be in the middle of the hustle and traffic. Being on the end of Waikiki makes getting in and out of the area, if you are driving, much easier than visitors staying in the middle of the high-rises. Saving the best for last, being on the end of Waikiki means there is nothing else between you and Diamond Head except the big green expanse of Kapiolani Park. Head up to the roof deck and see for yourself! In the morning it's an amazing place to have coffee, watch the sun peek over the Koolau Mountains and light up Diamond Head, listen to the monkeys in the Zoo, and see the elephants out for a stroll. Only in Hawaii!
“Amazing location, close to the beach, and everything you need. Front desk helpful. Plus the view from level 10, can't be beat”
Great condo within walking distance to food and shopping. Small but perfect for a couple! This was great value for our money.
My son and I had a great stay at the Bird Cage. Location was ideal--short walk to the beach and easy to come back to shower, etc. We rented a car and reserved a parking spot in Waikiki Grand,, really enjoying the convenience. It allowed us lots of beach time but also efficiency to do other things all over the island. As other reviews have stated, Kevin was great to work with for booking and answering specific questions before/after our stay. Thanks!!!
This was a great place. You are so close to several bus stops, right across the street from the beach and we had a very clean place to stay. Starbucks is right on the corner of you want something quick and easy or you have a fantastic place for breakfast a few blocks away - Eggs N' Things. The condo comes with all that you would need for your home away from home. We also took in the view from the 10th floor deck a few times. This was wonderful for a drink, have dinner or just to relax.
Thanks for a great stay Kevin and staff.

Excellent customer service by owner, and the location could not have been better. Studio apt needs updating and drywall is roughly patched, kitchen cupboards have seen better days, etc - but these were minor cosmetic issues. The unit was clean, everything worked properly, and the price was reasonable. If you want to be close to everything Waikiki has to offer, but in a quieter location a little bit off the beaten track, this unit is for you. Not suitable for families, but comfortable for us as a couple. Bottom line: we'll book it again.
This was a great place to stay. The location was close to the beach and lots of restaurants and bars. The room itself was clean and comfortable and the 10th floor deck amazing for breakfast and sunset watching. I would definitely recommend this property to a couple or a solo traveller.
we stayed 3nights at the Bird cage and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is comfortable with ac and so close to everything. We would stay there again. Kevin was quick to answer and Jeannie checked with us on our arrival to see if everything was good. that's service!!!! The view from the roof top was excellent.
