Upgraded one bedroom oasis looking right over the ocean. You will love the unit, you will love the location, walking distance to everywhere in town.

Stroll down Alii Drive and you will find a variety of shops and restaurants. Nearby restaurants include Splashers Grill, The Fish Hopper, Huggo's, Don the Beachcomber, Kona Inn Restaurant, Kona Canoe Club, Outback Steakhouse, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Island Lava Java, and Bongo Bens Island Cafe and the list can go on.

But the town of Kailua also "hides" some very important Hawaii Island historic spots. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Ahuena Heiau are located on Alii Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. The Ahuena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.

The Kailua Bay pier is a short 10-minute walk, from which most of the boat excursions on the Big Island's west coast depart (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise). The pier is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (October) and a great place to watch the sunset.

Kona Downtown

While the property was centrally located the downside of that was that it was extremely noisy. We had trouble hearing each other or the TV with the door open due to traffic noise. The apartment itself was nice, and the property managment company was easy to deal with but I would not stay there again.

Owner's Response: Beth, I'm surprised to hear you found the unit noisy. The street below of course is frequently traveled however during our time at the condo we normally hear nothing with the doors closed and more the ocean when the doors are open. Understandably the TV could be hard to hear with the back ground noise however we hope that overall this didn't take away from your overall experience. Many guests favorite channel tends to be watching the waves break from the direct ocean facing lanai.

We arrived and the place was beautiful and ready to go. Only bummer is no a/c for those that are used to having an a/c unit. The place did have plenty of fans which was nice. Would definitely stay again.

The condo was great. Great location and view! Love being right in town. The one problem was the appliances are in bad shape. Frig sounds like a fog horn at night and the microwave sparked and smelled so bad we didn't use it. The layout is a little weird, too.
