Palm Springs has always been the place to go if you are fortunate enough to find a hotel room during the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament or the Coachella and Stagecoach Music festivals, various golf events, film festival etc. After so many of my East Coast friends bought properties in Palm Springs away from the snow, sludge and gloom of harsh winters, I thought- I must be crazy not to join in on the fun. As a Realtor, I had access to all the information, and after 9 months of intensive searching, I saw this house and actually lost my breath when I first walked in. After a year of decorating and redoing, I decided to share my find with people who will enjoy it as much as my family and I do.
Mornings in the desert are my favorite, so serene and quiet, I enjoy sitting by the pool with my coffee and watching the mourning doves drink water out of the spa. I always wake up happy, refreshed and feeling as though I don't have a worry in the world. The evenings are so much fun in Palm Springs, the cafe and restaurants in the area rival some of the well known Los Angeles eateries without the hype and attitude. People here seem to be much friendlier and more relaxed than in "the city".
Our family (Mom/Dad and three married children and spouses) spent Thanksgiving week at Marina’s house in Palm Springs. It was wonderful. We had planned a Lot of activities in the surrounding area, but, the house was so comfortable, we ended up spending most of our time hanging out at the house.
First: the house is huge.
Each family unit had their own bedroom suite. One of the bedrooms has a second bedroom attached-perfect for our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. And the Master Bedroom? Awesome!
The Living area is so spacious and comfortable. Room for groups to sit, talk, eat, read and play games all at the same time. Another review already said that the house is better than the photos, I agreed within the first two seconds of walking in the front door…
And then there is the backyard… Amazing…
During the day:
I loved the ¾ size tennis/paddle court. My youngest son and I played each day-when we could get on the court! It was a big hit with the whole family.
Of course, the pool was a major source of fun.
During the night:
Tossup between the fire pit, the barbeque, the hot tub, the lighted, heated pool (again!) playing board games on the many tables in and around the house and watching old family videos on the huge plasma TV with the semi-circle sofa!
Actually, we really only left the house a few times, “to do some things”, because we felt we had to … we had planned on the house being “home-base” for our trip; instead, it became our home for the trip.
We have to mention the kitchen, after all we did prepare Thanksgiving Dinner there (as well as a week’s worth of other meals and snacks): My wife and daughter-in-law are a professional baker and chef, they thought it was magnificent.
Marina and Ivan? Awesome! They greeted us at the house and within minutes made us feel like they knew us for years. The first Sunday there, I had a question on the pool, nothing major; they immediately sent over the “pool guy” to hold my hand… Marina called several times during the trip to make sure everything was to our liking-she really cared… and made us feel valued and special…
We wanted everything to be perfect for this trip-and it was! Thank-you Marina and Ivan.
I booked this house for a bachelorette party with a bunch of friends (10) flying in from all over. It was gorgeous with ample room. The pool area was incredible! We loved it!
What a wonderful home! We stayed here to celebrate my parent's 40th anniversary. We were 8 adults and 3 kids under 5. Every picture that Marina posted is accurate if not understating the beauty of the home because, short of a virtual tour, it would be hard to capture (and for perspective I certainly can't say that about some of the other VRBOs I have stayed in). The bedrooms are well furnished and each bedroom having their own bathroom makes all the difference. She has gorgeous art and furniture (we asked that a few of the more beautiful/delicate pieces be removed for safe keeping due to kiddos - no problem, she did it immediately). The kitchen/dining/family room is large and open which is perfect when you have a group as large as ours (and with kids). The perfectly manicured lawn in the pictures is actually that nice (bonus when the sprinklers would go on and the kids would run through). The bougainvillea provided a shady terrace with a beautiful pop of color. The pool and tub were great and we had pre-breakfast pickle ball matches every day. One of the really nice features is the very tall hedges (as in 15 feet? 20 feet?) that surround the backyard. It provides an incredible amount of privacy and we never even thought about the neighbors during our stay. We had a private chef prepare brunch one morning and other than that we mostly used the gas grill outside and prepped things in the kitchen (which is also beautiful). If you run out of anything there is a grocery store that is a 2 minute drive away. No car? No problem - the first of us to arrive didn't have a car and we were able to get an Uber with only a couple minutes wait to make one of those "forgot to put this and that on the list" runs.
Most important was the care and effort that Marina put into making sure that my parent's 40th anniversary was perfect. From booking, to updates, to speaking with different members of my family as we were each planning a special portion of the weekend, to personally welcoming us and making sure that we had what we needed, Marina truly wanted to make sure our family had nothing to worry about so we could focus on celebrating my parents. I look forward to my next visit to Palm Springs and cross my fingers that I will be lucky enough to stay here again.
This house is gorgeous! It was the perfect house for my sister's bachelorette party! The entrance makes a statement and we loved it! The inside of the home is so spacious that all 10 of us girls could get ready at the same time and not bother each other. Everyone also had a beautiful and comfortable bed to sleep in. The kitchen is stocked with any supplies you might need to make any meal you can think of. We had a private chef come cook for us and it was wonderful. The kitchen is separated from the dining room so we were out of his way and in our own space.
The backyard is the show stopper though. The swimming pool and hot tub are stunning. The fire pit sits in front of a stunning wall of bougainvillea and was our go to spot for our before dinner cocktails. There is an outdoor eating area we used every morning for breakfast. There is a BBQ area and a tennis court that we didn't use but plan to use next time :) We did however use the lawn space for a yoga class and it was so lovely!
Working with the owner, Marina, was extremely pleasant and easy. We had one mishap when the pool heater turned off, but the house expert/contractor Ivan drove two hours from San Diego to resolve the problem for us.
I highly recommend this house for your next vacation. It is so easy to have a good and relaxing time here. We can't wait to return!
Thank you Marina!
Me and my large group of friends (11 people) have rented this home 3 different times now we love it so much. Given that this most recent time we stayed there it was the week before "John M." I feel compelled to address his comments and say that I couldn't disagree more.
1) A couple stayed in the white room and had no temperature issues whatsoever. The A/C in the house works wonderfully and no one had any complaints. As such, we didn't touch the water heater and therefore had plenty of hot water whenever we wanted to shower.
2) The powder room -- it is true that the sink in the front hall bathroom sprays a little when you turn it on. This resulted in 2 people on the first day getting a little bit of water on their shirts. Water that dried off within minutes and then moving forward for the rest of the weekend everyone knew to gently turn the sink on and there was no problem. I can't emphasize that enough -- it is literally not a problem.
3 - the spa and pool were heated to our exact requests. During the stay we asked Ivan to change the temperature -- both of the pool and the hot tub -- and he did so quickly and without incident.
Not only has every stay at this home been wonderful, but every interaction with Marina has been professional, accommodating and ideal. I'm planning a trip to Palm Springs in a few weeks with some friends and am legitimately sad that there are only 6 of us and so not a large enough group to justify such a big place, because if I had my way, it's the only house I would rent. But I can guarantee we will rent it again at some point. No beware necessary.

My wife and I have enjoyed close to 20 VRBO rentals over the past 10 years, all without issue. We rented this property for a family gathering of 10 (ages 11-75) for Thanksgiving week 2016. Let me begin by stating the home is lovely, the resort style backyard even better, although on a very heavily traveled street. We encountered numerous aggravating issues during our stay, but I won't take the time to enumerate each. I will, however, share 3 significant problems that future renters should be aware of.
First: What the owner refers to as the "White Bedroom," is all but unusable due to extreme heat in the room, even with the AC on. According to her property manager, Ivan, a very nice and responsive guy, the main hot water pipe runs directly under the floor of that room and has a serious problem that requires a major repair job. In attempting to lower the heat in the room, he turned the hot water heater down, which didn't help, and caused yet another problem...too little hot water throughout the house. The room remained extremely hot and uncomfortable for the duration of our stay.
Second: The Powder Room, in the entry hall, has a severe water pressure problem...too much pressure! When the water is first turned on it shoots out and hits anyone in its way, and then onto the floor of the entry hall almost 5 feet away. Once again, Ivan attempted to fix the problem, but it continued to be an issue throughout our stay.
Third: The pool/spa was very nice for the first few days, but then the temperature in both hit about 100 degrees...fine for the spa, but not for the pool. The pool became unusable, and we asked Ivan to turn the pool heater off, but leave the spa heater on. He said he could do so remotely. Unfortunatley, for the final 2 days there was no heat to either the pool or spa...too cold to use. We had pre-paid an additional daily amount to heat the water!
Following our stay, given the significant issues our family encountered, we asked the owner for a refund of one nights rent and tax, plus the two days of pre-paid pool heating that didn't work. Her response was insulting: "You will be getting your security deposit back and nothing else. You have absolutely no basis for your bogus claims." Our claims are not bogus! As a result of her attitude, I filed a formal complaint with VRBO. She has yet to respond to numerous emails. The last time we heard from her was December 6, 2016.
I'll close as I began, beautiful, but beware.
