Urban Oasis comes complete with a full kitchen, breakfast bar adjacent to your own private patio to enjoy a cup of coffee at, a dining room, deluxe Queen size bedroom in a lovely bedroom with a window seat (my most favorite place to sit and write in your journal), full bathroom and an oversized living room which features two seating areas, a working fireplace, and a Queen size pull out couch as well as a beautiful built in bookcase. You have your own private entrance and patio to enjoy dinner on. There's plenty of light in this daylight apartment. You also have your own washer and dryer. You will feel right at home!
You may also enjoy the beautiful grounds of Urban Oasis.
West Seattle Garden Tour quite agrees and has chosen the host's home for their 2009 tour! The grounds feature a water creek in the back area, a stone and grass study in the front area and several beautiful garden areas surrounding our home.
We so look forward to meeting you and having you be our guests!
OUR FAVORITE SEATTLE RENTAL!
Urban Oasis is the first rental we seek out when coming to Seattle! It is located in a quiet neighborhood in West Seattle overlooking Elliot Bay and the city. We love driving in to their off-street parking and very much enjoy the lovely yard and garden area as we walk to our apartment entrance. Ellen and Jim have created such a pleasant space … bright, comfy, very clean, with plenty of room to spread out. We were especially impressed and pleased with how comfortable the bed was. Meeting Ellen and Jim is just the cherry on top of this wonderful rental discovery. They are such warm cheerful folks. Urban Oasis is definitely a place we’d recommend to our family and friends.
Was very happy with all aspects. Great location for downtown activities; quiet residential area; grocery store close. All amenities required which made our 5 day stay enjoyable. Hosts were readily available to answer any questions. Recommend as a home away from home.
We enjoyed this newly remodeled and artistically designed place which had all the comforts of home. We could walk down the hill to get coffee or catch the bus a short distance to downtown or the beach. Ellen is a helpful and friendly host.
Our travel group including my parents, my husband and I, and our little 1.5 yrs old. Everyone had great time in this lovely place! It is located in a very convenient/safe area and it does feel like home. I choose this place based on the review (The Larsons' review) and I am glad I made the right decision! With little one, I was able to cook some food for her with fully equipment kitchen. The landlord live above us but it is not too noisy after dinner time. So, if you are travelling with little one and plan to rent a car while in Seattle, this is an excellent place for you! I will definitely come back! PS. Both Ellen and Jim are very nice and very approachable.
My family (myself, wife, and our 2yr old) and I are wrapping up a 3 month stay at the Urban Oasis and we could not be more pleased with our experience. We recently moved back to the Seattle area and needed a temporary place to stay until our new apartment became available. We are so happy to have found this place. The location is perfect. Just a short drive (maybe 5mins; or $10-15 cab ride) to downtown Seattle but also close to other area attractions like Alki Beach (a must in the spring and summer) and hip California Ave in West Seattle with plenty of great restaurants, bars, markets, and shopping. Or, take a quick ferry ride to Vashon Island for a little more nature. The airport is also an easy 15 min ride away and avoids all the downtown traffic. The apartment is tastefully decorated and has felt like a true home during our stay. The garden surrounding the beautifully restored craftsmen is in full bloom and is quite a site (kudos Jim). The neighborhood offers quiet streets for walking with some stunning views of the Seattle skyline. The owners, Jim and Ellen, are wonderful hosts (and people) and make themselves readily available for anything you may need. Bottom line, the apartment is spacious, comfortable, clean, and in a great location. We would (and will) recommend the Urban Oasis to anyone coming to stay Seattle. We would also recommend it to any locals needing some temporary digs. Thank you Jim and Ellen!
Urban Oasis was the perfect place for us to stay during our get away vacation in October. After a year of family illness and responsibility it felt emancipating to kick up our heels and be carefree for a bit. The apartment is lovely, contemporary and homey. Away from the hub-bub of the city, it gave my husband and I a chance to really relax and when we felt renewed, off we would again on another adventure. Ellen and Jim were fabulous hosts...meeting them felt more like catching up with old friends than a landlord/tenant encounter. They were available whenever we needed assistance but always respected our space.
As for Seattle....what can I say....we had a blast being tourists to the max! Even did the ferris wheel and I'm terrified of heights! Hoping that someday we will return and if we do, this will be our nest. Congratulations Ellen on your book publication, "Nothing Ever Goes On Here", and thank you again for the "limited edition" signed copy, lol.

This is a two bedroom suite in the basement of a home - cool and quiet during the warm summer days we were there. Beautifully furnished with everything we could need, spacious and comfortable. This quiet neighborhood is away from the tourist areas but close to drive to all the attractions. The owners were available - Ellen stopped by right after we arrived to offer advice and answer questions, which was nice, and we had cell phone numbers so we could have reached them any time. How lovely to sit outside late in the evening on the private patio and enjoy a glass of wine!
West Seattle is like being in a sweet hometown less than 10 minutes to the big city of Seattle! We are also about 3 miles to Alki Beach where you can rent kayaks, bikes, roller blades and see the city from the water. We have great restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops galore(of course!), a fabulous golf course with great views!
