Northwest Washington Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Convertible bed(s), Sleeps 4

This charming apartment is the entire 3rd floor of an historic row house in the dynamic neighborhood of Columbia Heights.

Price INCLUDES tax and cleaning (for stays of 4+ nights.)

Clinton Inauguration 2017 - Price will of course be higher, but not yet determined. Please email me if interested.

From March-July, there is minimum stay of 4 nights unless there is a natural gap on the calendar.

The apartment is separate and private with a door at the bottom of the stairs, but the entry is through the main house where I live. You may come and go as you please. I'm a writer & work at home.

Location- only Half-block from Columbia Heights Metro station, (Yellow/Green line) it is only 5 stops (7-10 minutes) to tourist areas - Smithsonian museums, US Capitol, Convention Center, Zoo.

What's Nearby? - Within 2 blocks you will find dozens of restaurants and cafes, neighborhood pubs, coffee shops, grocery Store, CVS drugstore.

Shopping center with Target & Marshals. (Travel light and buy it all here!)

Other neighborhoods with similar vibrant nightlife & restaurants - Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Mount Pleasant & U st - are an easy 15-20 minute walk, or one subway stop away.

Just three more stops along (no need to change trains) is the bustling Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood, with the MCI arena, Convention Center, American Art Museum, Spy museum, dozens of shops and restaurants, a 14 screen movie theater, even a bowling alley!

Amenities- The apartment has one bedroom with queen sized bed, a full bathroom and a separate living room with a comfy queen-sized sofa bed. There is a TV with cable & DVD in each room.

High speed Wireless INTERNET.

In the living room there is a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, 2 electric burners, toaster, coffee maker etc. - everything you need to prepare light meals.

You have use of washer/dryer on 2nd floor.

Because of the open stairs the apt. is not safe for crawling babies and toddlers.

There is one Aerobed available, making it possible for 3 children to share the living room. This is very crowded however and not recommended for longer than 4 nights.

I provide a permit for free street parking.

Off street parking is available - $10.00 per night.

I accept credit cards through PayPal.

Please tell me a bit about yourself in your reply.

About Victoria

I'm a novelist. I was born in Washington DC and have lived here most of my life. I've traveled and worked all over the world and enjoy sharing my city with visitors.

Victoria purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Victoria chose Washington DC

Columbia Heights is an historic and diverse neighborhood right in the middle of the city, close to everything. Being 1/2 block to a Metro station makes everything easier!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our first real vacation to D.C. and we could not have picked a better place to stay. Close to Metro station - just a 3-4 minute walk - and close to good places to eat and shop. Just two of us so we had plenty of room - fully furnished with everything you need and very comfortable for resting up for the next adventure. Landlady was very nice and usually home to ask questions and give advice. Neighborhood was quite nice and we never had any safety / security concerns. We would very highly recommend you give this place serious consideration if going to D.C. For us, it was just about perfect.

Columbia Heights Rental

  • 4 of 5

The Heart of the City, Columbia Heights, is the perfect place to stay while visiting D.C. Victoria met us at the entrance to a lovely townhouse that was easy to find, even when we arrived in the evening. Victoria was welcoming and answered all of our questions, then got us set up with maps and restaurants and Metro Cards for our travel in D.C.

The comfortable apartment was up two flights of stairs and surprisingly quiet and peaceful after a long day in the city. The bed was comfortable, as were the sofa and chairs. The kitchen has the basic necessities only, which is great for breakfast and packing a lunch, then eating out for supper.

Everything was neat, tidy and well maintained. It was such a relief to be so close to the Metro, not even half a block to the station!

My husband and I, took in the museums, memorials and the parks around the Mall. Most of our site seeing was done on our own two feet. My husband enjoyed the Air and Space museum the most, while I loved the Art Galleries. What a treat to see many master works of art. We took in Arlington Cemetery on our last evening and ended the day in Chinatown for supper - fresh dumplings!

We usually saw Victoria at some part of the morning or evening, as one must enter the rental through Victoria's entryway/living room. There is no private entrance, but Victoria made it feel like we were coming home after a long day. It was great to meet her darling kittens that she was fostering, and of course Ginger, her cute dog.

An excellent stay in DC!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time in DC - and Victorias home was one of the main reasons!

We are a family with two children - and the apartment had absolutely everything we could have needed to make our stay comfortable.

The apartment is immaculately clean and facilities were excellent. Our children were extremely comfy on the sofa bed!

Victoria is very helpful with advice about DC and the area - as well as friendly and easy to communicate with.

The area is extremely handy to get anywhere in DC - the metro just a few houses down. So many shops and restaurants near the apartment also.

We would not hesitate in recommending Victoria's home for and visit to DC!!!

Une bonne adresse à DC

  • 4 of 5

A recommander !

conveniently located and well-maintained rental

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is OK for two, a little cramped for three, but we were out all day and never had dinner at home so it didn't matter. The location is very good, only a few steps from the metro, shops and restaurants. The apartment was very clean. Having to walk through the owner's private lodgings was no problem, actually. Victoria gave us Metro cards, which saved us time and money. Also, our son had fun playing with Victoria's four kittens. I would definitely recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thanks! I enjoyed meeting your family. And just to clarify about the 4 kittens (so people don't think I'm a "crazy cat lady!") I foster kittens for a rescue group, getting them ready for adoption. They mostly stay in one closed room and guests are always welcome to come in and play with them, but don't worry that you will have to dodge kittens all over the place!

Can't get a better location!

  • 5 of 5

I was in DC for work at the National Archives in College Park, and this top floor apt. right next to the Columbia Heights metro was the perfect location for me. There are a variety of restaurants and coffee shops (vegetarian and vegan) in the neighborhood, as well as shopping and grocery stores. Runners will enjoy relatively close access to Rock Creek Park trails. The apt. itself is very comfortable and clean, with a pleasant and comfortable bedroom and a sitting room/kitchen area that was stocked with utensils and necessities. Victoria was a lovely host; she was friendly and accessible, generous, easy-going and relaxed. As stated in the description, renters do walk through Victoria's home to reach the apt. on the 3rd floor. I didn't find this to be awkward or problematic at all. And of course, the kittens! There were two during my stay - what's not to love? I would happily stay at this property again during my next extended stay in DC.

Lovely rowhouse in great location.

  • 5 of 5

This was a great home base for exploring DC. The accommodations were value priced and just roomy enough for our family of 5. Victoria was extremely helpful in navigating the area and taking care of the details like parking and metro cards. She even let us do laundry every night. The zoo was within walking distance for us, and the metro stop and numerous restaurants and shops are less than a block away. Would definitely stay here again.

Non-crawling babies and children older than about 5 are welcome. It is possible for three children to sleep in the living room with one on an air-bed on the floor, but this is very crowded and only recommended for short stays (3-4 days.)
