About Paul Jannke
My wife and I met at grad school in Boston. We loved the area and decided to stay here after graduation. I grew up on the water and always wanted to get back to the ocean, so when this property became available in 2008, we jumped on the opportunity.
Paul Jannke purchased this House in 2008
Why Paul Jannke chose East Falmouth
Being born and raised by a marine biologist and boat builder in south Florida, I spent my childhood and youth on the water. Living in the Boston area, we are close to the water, but I missed being on it. I worked in Falmouth during the summers while I was in college and fell in love with the towns combination of beautiful nature (beaches, ocean, bike trails etc...), fun downtown (restaurants, cafes and funky shops) and classic Cape Cod charm. So, when it came time for us to buy a place, Falmouth was our first choice. In terms of this particular house, we have a boat and a dog who loves the water. We hated taking vacations without him and it was a hassle to trailer the boat every time we wanted to use it. So, we purchased the house to be on the water, have a place to keep our boat and be able to take our dog with us when we went on vacation.
What makes this House unique
The house has a deep water dock with bridge-free access to the Sound. It overlooks Washburn Island, a beautiful 330 acre undeveloped island that is part of the Waqouit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The house is on two lots, so it has a large yard with breathtaking views across the water to the Island. The house faces due east and the prevailing winds are from the SW in the summertime so the house is protected from the winds that usually blow on the Cape in the afternoon: you can be sitting peacefully on the porch while the winds are blowing 20 MPH just a few hundred yards up the peninsula.

Relaxing by the water
This is our second time staying at this property, and still remains at the top of our list. Host is always quick to respond, house is very clean and has a perfect view of the water.
Paul Jannke's cottage
My family has been spending a week here in E. Falmouth for years, and always enjoy it. The cottage is very comfortable, and well-equipped, even including kayaks (for an extra fee). Since last year Paul has added air conditioning upstairs, and made other improvements. The view on the back deck is spectacular- we spend much time out there.
Peaceful, clean, comfortable and spacious
We were delighted with our stay in this East Falmouth waterfront home. The view of the inlet from the large deck space with furniture was so refreshing. We found it enjoyable to watch the many boats, kayakers and paddle boaters coming to and fro while drinking our morning coffee each day. Lots of ducks, birds and butterflies to see as well. The neighborhood is lovely and allows for the perfect walking or jogging routes. The neighborhood beach is tiny but very close and often empty during the week. FYI: You have to drive about 30 minutes if you want a beach with big waves though.
The owner, Paul, was friendly, reachable and very helpful but did not interfere with our privacy. Our family of 8 enjoyed taking turns using the two adult kayaks and bikes. We also brought two of our own. It was a good sized living space, larger than the pictures make it seem. It was thoughtful of the owners to have start up amounts of "necessary paper products" available on arrival. We came prepared with it, having learned the hard way on a previous trip elsewhere, but it would be a lifesaver if you forgot! The kitchen was stocked with all the basic tools we needed for cooking when we didn't eat out at the many choices in town and nearby Falmouth. A couch, a loveseat and an over stuffed leather chair provide comfortable seating. We never had 8 people plus our two Cockapoos there at one time but the floor space and air mattresses available would have allowed it. There is not privacy in the loft area so that would probably be best for school aged kids only. It was so convenient to have laundry facilities right there.
The dock is sturdy and new. Wish I'd brought a boat! Next time.
The house rules were fair and reasonable. The cleaning list was fulfilled easily on our last day. We were so appreciative to find a pet friendly home in such a great spot.
If you're Italian or just eat like you are, you'll want to try La Cucina Sul Mare on Main St in Falmouth.
Would highly recommend your stay here. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Cape Cod Family Vacation 2014
We were once again happy with our stay this year! The views are perfect and the location is terrific. It was also nice to see a few updates this year (new furniture, TV, and refrigerator). Can't wait until next year!
Vacation to Dreamland
My husband and I wanted a place to retreat where we could relax--add relax we did.
The house was clean, the rooms spacious and bright, well-appointed and the views were beautiful. The only thing it lacked was sunshine (we had no rain) but we made up for that. We enjoyed quiet walks in the evening and sat on the decks when we could. The ducks were a joy to watch.
We explored the Falmouth area, which was abundant with shopping. The buildings were neat and the beaches nothing short of gorgeous. We are looking forward to our next visit.
At the time of our stay, our 3 children were ages 5 and under and this property suited our needs perfectly. We looked a long time for a waterfront house on the Cape and this is the best deal we found. The nearby islands provided hours of fun for the kids- collecting HUNDREDS of hermit crabs and just exploring and swimming. Surrounding the dock at the house, there are a bunch of big crabs and trying to catch these in the provided nets was a fun activity, too. We finally succeeded a few times, much to the delight of the kids (and adults). The house was very well maintained, updated and comfortable and the owner was very personable and easy to work with. All of the gear at the house was fantastic- kayaks, tubes, beach toys, etc. We had several family members visit during our stay and everyone had a wonderful experience.
The only drawback for me was that the shallow water area at the house was quite mucky, but pond shoes alleviated that problem for the older kids. Babies/toddlers really can't wade in this water, though. Additionally, there was some work being done on the dock by a crew while we were there, which we didn't expect. However, that meant the dock was brand new, which was a definite bonus. Overall, our vacation was fantastic. As 2010 came to a close and we reflected back, everyone in our family chose this vacation for their favorite part of the year, which is why I felt compelled to write a review. We are looking to vacation in NH this summer, and I find the reviews to be very helpful, so I wanted to do my part to let people know that this is a fabulous vacation spot.
The house overlooks the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve which offers kayaking in its 1000+ acre waters, fishing, clamming, water skiing, sailing, multiple beaches (many accessible only by boat) and hiking. There is a public boat launch and marina within a mile of the house. Martha's Vineyard is a 15 minute boat ride and offers days of exciting activities including beaches, shopping, and biking. Mashpee Commons and Falmouth Center are both within 5 miles of the house and offer great shopping and dining. In addition, Falmouth has miles of town beaches, bike trails, ferry access to Martha's Vineyard. Woods Hole offers a hands on aquarium and educational options for children. Other Activities: Boating
