The home is located on a 5 Mile Long by 2 Mile Wide (at its widest-1/2 mile at its skinniest) Lake located in the beautiful Carrabassett Valley Area. Have a boat? Bring it along since we have a 30 Foot Dock calling your name and very easy free boat launch access. We also provide at the home a canoe, two kayaks and all the paddles & life preservers you would need. Enjoy swimming and just being in the water? This is the place for you since Embden is one of the 10 Clearest and Cleanest lakes on the whole Eastern Seaboard. You can look right down at the bottom of the water pretty much anywhere you do...which is very impressive when you are kayaking not near the shore and you can see fish swimming! The access in front of the house is very shallow and perfect for small kids. Avid Fisherman? There is a fish hatchery (perfect for kids to visit!) right near the lake and they stock the lake with up to 4000 fish per year. Record fish have been caught here!
Big Families & Multiple Families Love This House!: The home is very well set up for multiple families with the bedrooms being located on different floors with multiple living rooms where the kids can enjoy one area of the home and the adults can enjoy another!
Outdoor Adventure Seekers Welcome!: Do you enjoy hiking? There are trails located directly behind the house that connect over to ITS 75 (Intertrail System) and we are right off of the Appalachian trail so if you are looking for a hike, there are tons of options to choose from. Like to Mountain Bike? Same as above and we also provide 2 Mountain Bikes at the house for rides around the lake. Want to give Whitewater Rafting a try? We are located 10 miles from Bingham which is where many of the rafting companies start from on both the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. We are also about 30 minutes from The Forks if you wanted to head a bit farther North for rafting. The Kennebec river is only 2 Miles from the house so if you have kayaks or canoes and you want to go on your own you can easily jump in the river right down the road. Want to go Golfing? You have a few options in opposite directions. In Madison there is Lakewood (also a theater there if you want to catch a live show) which is 15 minutes and also Sugarloaf-35 mile
Moose, Deer, Nature Alike...and Waterfalls!: Make your trip to Maine a vacation your family will talk about forever. Take a ride and look for Moose on Route 201 (beautiful mountain ride) or watch the deer as you take a walk on our little road. You usually see a couple coming into and out of the house on East Shore Rd. Like to walk? The road we are on is very quiet and you can walk for miles and only have a couple cars pass you. Take a trip over to Greenville (1hr 15 min) away and have lunch at the bottom of Moosehead Lake at one of the quaint little mom & pop restaurants--or take a boat cruise out on the 'Miss Moosehead' and experience the largest lake in Maine (bring a jacket as it can get Windy out there!). Want to see waterfalls in the middle of nowhere? We have directions at the home to two beautiful falls that even small children can navigate too. Both are only 1/4 to 1/2 mile into the woods on a trail and have the most breathtaking views! Looking for Shopping Centers/Chain Restaurants, etc? This Is Not The Place!
