Texas Hill Country House Rental Photos and Description

1 king bedroom, 1 queen bedroom plus sleeping loft with 2 twin beds

The vacation cabin at Brazos Bluffs Ranch is a comfortable and beautiful log house for couples or the whole family who want a quiet get-a-way. This is the only guest house on our 300+ acre ranch.

Located 5 miles north of the Waco city limits and 10 miles from Baylor University but feels like you're in a state park.

Guests enjoy fishing, canoeing & kayaking in the Brazos River. We provide Canoes & Kayaks. House guests get a 20% discount for a guided horseback ride on the ranch.

See the photos of the aspen wood ceilings, granite counter tops, American elm wood floors, antler chandelier.

Propane BBQ grill provided!

The house is accessed by a private road through gated private property.

To look at the house you must call for a reservation and meet the owner at the property entrance.

There is not a telephone or TV in the house. Most cell phones have service in the house.

(No smoking on property)

Location Details: Brazos Bluffs Ranch is accessed from Halbert Lane through the Brazos De Dios Farm where the Homestead Heritage Craft Village is located.

This is a short drive to Baylor and the City of Waco.

The map on Yahoo is not correct. See the ranch website's map for directions.

You will need to call us before you come so we can provide directions to our ranch.

Horseback Riding: Brazos Bluffs Stables, LLC offers western horseback rides year-round along the Brazos River and on the rim of the overlooking chalk bluff plus miles of other scenic trails on our ranch. The ride is normally $40 per person but as a house renter you get 20% off!

Horses, tack and helmets are provided.

No experience is necessary.

For your comfort it's best to wear appropriate riding apparel: jeans or riding skirts and closed-toe shoes or riding boots. Most of the horses can carry a maximum of 225 - 250 lbs. up the steep hills. If you will need a larger horse, please mention that when you call for reservations.

River Pavilion: The ranch's 800 sq. ft. screened-in river pavilion and 1,330 sq. ft. deck (35' x 38') overlooking the Brazos River plain is an ideal place for family gatherings and business retreats.

We offer a volleyball net, horseshoe pits and a ping pong table for you to enjoy, along with an outdoor BBQ pit and gas grill for parties of any size.

The kitchen inside the pavilion includes a refrigerator and sink. The pavilion, deck and separate restrooms are all easily handicapped accessible.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Many thanks to all of the Brown family. We enjoyed the peaceful time we spent at your wonderful home. The beauty & craftsmanship of the cottage make it my favorite of places. The horse ride in the morning and the hike on the trail was a great blessing. Thanks again.

We really enjoyed the vacation home/cabin at Brazos Ranch.

Walking distance to breakfast, lunch, and icecream at Cafe Homestead.

Would recommend for anyone who is looking to unwind!

Our stay was wonderful!! Will be returning with entire family!!

  • 4 of 5

Brazzo's Bluff is a beautiful place to stay! There are many things to do for the entire family! From horseback riding, canoeing and hiking (which we didn't get to do because of rain). Just sitting outside on the front porch is enough reason to stay here!!

I will mention that when we stay again, I will bring everything I need for cooking! They have lots of things but there wasn't enough good sized pans and NO can opener!! It was very difficult to fix meals without these things!! Another positive was plenty of towels and washcloths!! It's a beautiful home!! We will return!!

Very clean and well kept

Very nice cabin, a little deceiving on the pics and description of the location of the cabin in relation to the Brazos River, we were under the impression the cabin was on the river, which it was not. Otherwise pleased with our stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us! We try to make it very clear that the house is built on the bank of our small lake and a short walk or drive (a couple hundred yards) to the Brazos River. We post this in writing and have an aerial map showing the layout on our website. I apologize that this was not clear.

We stayed here for a girl's getaway and it was very private and relaxing. I loved the fact that there was no tv and phone, it made reconnecting with my friends easy. I will be back.

Most peaceful and warm place to be.

  • 5 of 5

Very Private, Very serene and very peaceful. The days we visited it was cold and raining, but i cannot believe how much fun we had. The house offers a warm welcome and the pavilion is fit for all weathers. We are already thinking about booking it for summer. Thank you for everything.

Above & Beyond!

  • 5 of 5

The location is beyond beautiful and the accommodations are way above anywhere else you might stay. I definitely recommend staying here and if we are headed back this way it's the only place I want to stay.

The Brown family seems to have thought of every detail for the cabin. It was wonderful for our family of six (our children are ages 11,9, 2, & 5 months). My parents also stayed for part of the trip. There was plenty of room and everyone was comfortable. We rode horses and my husband and 11 year old son canoed the Brazos up to Baylor's new stadium. The Homestead Heritage Village was great! We ate at the Cafe three times and bought beautiful pottery. You can make a day out of touring the village.

There were so many great things to do in Waco, and it was nice to have a clean, safe, & home-like environment to come back to, especially with little ones that needed naps and big kids that like to play outside.
