Guestbook comments from the manager

Many thanks to all of the Brown family. We enjoyed the peaceful time we spent at your wonderful home. The beauty & craftsmanship of the cottage make it my favorite of places. The horse ride in the morning and the hike on the trail was a great blessing. Thanks again.

If only I could I buy the house and the land!!

  • 5 of 5

Without a doubt it is a place I’m pretty sure I’d go again each year. We stayed here for two days with our 3 kids as we drove through some parts of Tx doing the tourist stuff and visiting family from Dallas. The rooms are great. The master worked well. The downstairs bedroom was great for our baby (18mo) and our older two LOVED having the loft to themselves. This place could easily do two families or three that are close. If your going to be traveling down south from anywhere north of Waco this place is it 100% Make sure you drive through and allow an 45min to 1.5 hours at Fossil Rim(about an hour away) check it out! Totally worth it. It’s like being on an African safari, but your able to feed and pet the most interesting animals from baby deer to giant giraffes from your car as you drive through by yourself!!!!! Anyways...

Also we went to the Fixer Uper silos and the wood carpenter guys place. Both were cool. My wife really enjoyed it and I though it was pretty cool too, as I stuffed my face with amazing cupcakes. Only 18 min at 5pm on a rainy Tuesday driving there. Much different traffic then we are use to. You can quickly get everywhere in this town

As for the house and land it rests on I don’t think there’s too many of these hidden gems left. There’s no WiFi no TVs and just enough cell service to call in and out and get a message out and back, all Verizon. You can walk two or three minutes toward the river and have full service. In the crazy connected world we live in we couldn’t have been happier. Surprisingly our three kids didn’t care about no tv or WiFi, they ended up playing and exploring together for hours and hours every day. I didn’t tell any of the family until we got there there’s no WiFi or tv lol, you should too.

We had horse back riding lined up, but had to cancel. Others we saw riding looked to be very happy and enjoying it. If your staying in the house you get a pretty good discount. There’s endless trails, I’m just wishing I could have brought our dirt bikes.

Being from out of state CA, it is weird not having any mountains, staying on this property I think has some of the biggest hills I’ve seen driving through the state. Everything is green and lush. The pond on the property outside of the front door looks like something out of a post card.

If your on the fence about booking just do it already! You’ll be glad you did.

Your to the heart of Waco within 10min, rushhour 20 min tops. Do something fun, hotels are boring

Cabin in the Woods

Beautiful well kept home in a secluded peaceful setting. Kitchen is furnished with anything you may need to prepare a meal. Or you can enjoy The Homestead Cafe which is a short walk from the house. We would love to spend every weekend there!

Great! Exactly what we our family was looking for!

  • 5 of 5

The great outdoors in the great state of Texas! The only flip side, which the owner mentioned, is that wifi is very spotty but we were out and about away from the house a lot so it wasn't really an issue except for my husband who needed to be online for work and our son who 'needed' to connect with all the happenings of welcome week stuff at Baylor. We were here to move our son into Baylor so most of our time was spent doing that but had moments to catch-release-fish in the river, hang out by the pond, jogging through the property and of course browsing through all the great workshops and stores on the property! We'd stay here again!

Private, Peaceful, Pretty

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed touring the Homestead Heritage community. The Sorghum ice cream will live on in our memories. The home was clean and well appointed. We admired the tasteful decorations, enjoyed the perfectly country front porch, and noticed the quality in most the furnishings. Our only complaint was with the King mattress which felt quite worn out and left is a little more sleepless and sore with each night.

Owner's Response: We were so surprised to hear you weren't comfortable in the bed. We've had nothing but very positive feedback about that bed. One review said it was the most comfortable mattress they had ever slept on. We wish we had personally heard from you while you were staying in the house so we could have tried to make you more comfortable. We understand that everyone has their own opinion about what makes a mattress comfortable, so a few years ago we bought a very expensive latex mattress that was not too firm and not too soft, hoping it would be comfortable for most. We have checked with our guests since you were here and they said the mattress was comfortable. We will do our best to provide a relaxing and wonderful stay for all of our guests.
